Noblesville Job is almost filled.   Kevin would be a good fit at Fishers.  If he was there, the competition for athletes would hurt HSE, not Fishers. 

I think this can still be a great job....... There is no reason they can't rise just as Lafayette Jeff has.  

Carmel may not win their sectional......... Sagarine has this game almost even.  Fishers was a 3 point favorite last week against the rocks............

A number of schools now have a full week of Fall break now, so it might be good to have the bye weeks scheduled the same week. 

Outstanding idea !! If only we could get all the schools to go on fall break at the same time.

That is not true, most of us would love to have a 10th game. Our Athletic departments would love to have a 10th game. The IHSAA won't allow it.

James Banks was probably the best player that I ever saw in person.  Rex Grossman was pretty good  too.  I didn't see him play in person, but saw some video of Sheridan great Brett Law (wow!!) Former North Central RB Lars Tate was very impressive too.... Went to Georgia and was the Hiesman runner up.

 I won't  justify your claiming to be a coach comment.  I did not realize we weren't allowed to have opinions.   Not sure this is a disagreement and not sure why its a big deal. This forum is all about opinion and speculation. Compared to the old days, this forum is extremely tame (remember Rome).  Not trying to anger or argue with anyone. I just simply based on experience stated an opinion.  I have been wrong in my opinions before as have most of you.   My whole point was that 6A is more balanced then ever. 

BTF: Westfield will be ok in Sectional 4 and I appreciate your well wishes.  Good Luck to you and Snider as well.

I state that like it is my opinion........  We are better offensively then we were in 2016 and close to where we were in 2013 minus a Nick Ferrar. Would be happy to play either.

Westfield is not average, if in 5a they would play in the State championship.......  Probably better offensively then they have ever been.  I think the top of the HCC is better then it has ever been and the winner of the Avon- Brownsburg sectional will have a very good chance to be in the State Championship.  Give credit where credit is due.... Westfield always plays Avon very well.  Avon is absolutely a top 5 team.  Defensively Avon is better then Brownsburg... Offensively its a toss up. IMHO NC is over rated.  For the first time ever, there is more balance in 6a then ever.  Upsets could happen in every week.

They actually did, but had to forfeit a victory to Ben Davis because they played an academically ineligible player on one special team late in the game.  Most places would have not reported it.  NC did.......... it was in the like 1999 or 2000. So yes you are right, but with an *.   I Believe Jason Lee was the QB that year and Marion County Sherriff ( now IMPD) and frequent JMV caller Bobby Jefferson was a starting LBer.

About 5 tears ago the MIC wanted the HCC minus the Lafayete schools to join them. At that time, there was not interest by the HCC. It did go for a vote though.  I do not think there would be an interest now either  by any of the HCC teams. It doesn't make economic sense or does it make sense across all sports. The HCC is probably the second best Conference in football and gaining, the second best in basketball and probably the best baseball conference in the state.

Center Grove @ North Central - A true toss up game in my opinion as I think every week that passes means Steele is more likely to play as he has been practicing according to people I have spoken to.  NC won at CG last year for the first time in an eternity and CG has revenge on its minds.  I see this one coming down to the last possession though.  Gimme NC 20-17 in a "slight" upset.  NO Upset here, NC has been  bit overrated all year.  CG by 10.

Lawrence Central @ Pike - I have NO clue what to expect from LC at this point as I inflated expectations for the Bears from the get go and have been wrong nearly every week.  I thought their win over LN would catapult them to a battle with Warren that just never came to fruition.  Pike continues to improve and I see them pulling this one out.  Gimme Pike 33-24. I'll take LC by 6.... A bit of a grudge Game for LC.

Lawrence North @ Carmel - Lawrence North looked like an upper half MIC team after the first couple of weeks but have come crashing back down to earth since.  Carmel rolls here 27-13. Carmel wins here.

Warren Central @ Ben Davis - Two programs headed in opposite directions, which makes me sad as this used to be the premier rivalry in big boy football.  BD surely remembers last season's regular season trip to the east side but will it matter?  They cannot continue to turn the ball over and expect to remain competitive, let alone win.  This one will be one sided once the home crowd energy wears off.  Warren wins on the road 34-14.  Warren wins in a rout here.

 

HCC: 

Fishers @ Brownsburg - This is a VERY underrated game as the Tigers are ready to prove that they may be the forgotten team in the conference and has the Dogs fresh off of a rivalry loss in which their offense was shut down by Avon.  Meanwhile, Fishers is riding high after a rivalry win of their own.  That being said, Brownsburg's talent and home field wins out.  Brownsburg 24-20.  Fishers has been a surprise thus far, but don't get it done this week. Dogs win a close one.

Franklin Central @ Avon - The up and comers versus the established contenders.  Avon will need to keep their eyes open as FC is vastly improved and they will be coming off of a rivalry win too.  They cannot take the Flashes lightly.  Avon still prevails.  27-14.  FC is improving, bur would have to get some breaks to beat Avon. 

Westfield @ Hamilton Southeastern - A true pick em game in my opinion. Westfield is the better team, HSE is at home.  I'll take the Rocks to win but am not extremely confident in this pick.  'Rocks win 20-13.

Zionsville @ Noblesville - Noblesville HAS to have this one to prove to their fan base that they are pointed in the right direction.  Zionsville has been slightly disappointing in their own right.  Both teams need this one badly.  I'll take the Eagles 27-17. Noblesville defense is not bad and will contain the Eagles run game.  Can the Eagles throw this week?? Zionsville scores just enough to win.

I agree with the top 5 in the 6A Poll, but after that its IMHO way off. Seen a lot of these teams in the summer.  Lets seen how it stacks up in week 3.

It's been a great off season for the Rocks...... Maxes coming in. Probable starting line squat numbers are:  655, 600, 545, 545 and 475.  We got some Beef!! Strength Coach Tavio Henson has done an Awesome Job!!!

Westfield is not rebuilding.. last years junior class has been one of the best in Westfield history. They were undefeated in JV as Sophomores. Last years JV lost once.

 I am hearing Westfield, NC, Carmel , Zionsville are going to be together. Jeff going to region, Noblesville to Ft. Wayne and HSE/ Fishers go South.

 Anything in the MIC or HCC is a great 6a job.

Tiny Mite and Mighty Mite are "supposed" to be instructional.  They're not even supposed to keep score at the Tiny Mite level (of course everyone does).  

Getting into a 3 point stance and firing out with your hands making initial contact and with your head up is just a difficult set of mechanics to get a 7 year old to get sometimes.  Are there kids who can do it?  Of course.  But a lot have difficulty with it because their bodies just cannot do it because their arm and leg proportions are so out of wack for some kids at that age.

When I teach it to those kids, I  don't over complicate it.  I just teach: step, punch, RUN RUN RUN!! LOL.. Seems to work.

Teach the block backwords : start them in a good run fit and practice the Run ( drive) part

                                                    then work the step and punch

                                                    work the step

                                                   Then try the whole block......

                                               You can work  step punch on air as well.  You will be amazed if you repeat the same drill several days in a row, how well they will eventually get it. Just teach the drive step and don't worry about which step to punch on at this age. just get them off the ball stepping, punching and RUNNING:)

We never talk about low man winning, because that tends to encourage kids to have their heads down and lead with their heads. We talk about striking with a double upper cut, landing our hands first on a specific  target and keeping our eyes below our hands. Some people like the 2 pt. stance, but you rarely see it amongst the best in college football.  I would argue as well that the older and better an athlete gets, the easier it would be to get away with the two point stance. I just think most younger players like to play high already, and do tend to stand up too much and I have found the two point stance encourages that.  Just my experience. If you can make it work for you, awesome. However, against the dudes we have to play,  want to have strong and quick footwork out of our stance and like to strike our defenders on the rise. We use a balanced stance with little weight no the hand.

I work a number of Youth Camps at our High School and Coordinate the O-line portion of the Bishop- Dullahan Youth camp and have not had much trouble teaching stance. I do agree that with kids below the 3rd grade level, it does tend to get more difficult though. I have played with the thought of going from a two point stance with my varsity guys, but it is my opinion that you lose your angles of leverage when coming from a two point stance in the run game. I also will say, that we never lead with the head. We lead with the hands and want our eyes below our hands.
