    I can - 2019.  Chatard won 53-7.

    I expect a close game.

This Chatard team looks more like a classic Lorenzano team than any since his retirement….probably not quite as big as some of his lines, though.  Not as much passing, yet, as a typical Doyle team but a shifty, scrambling first year starter QB.  I anticipate they’ll pass more as the season goes on.

    Should be an enjoyable game.

The WR that is up at PU gave Roncalli fits that game.

Roncalli will play hard, but will not be able to push teams around up front like they did lasy year.    I think they are still trying to find their identity.

I have been hearing about this Chatard SR class since they were FR and how solid they are.

  2. The do not have big good linemen this year.  Graduation really hit them hard.

The few big ones are still developing as all of the starting linemen are Jr and So.   A rebuilding year for the Royals.

Roncalli has 3 SRs on the roster with numbers between 50-79 where linemen should be.   By comparison Chatard has around 12.

I think a rough one for Roncalli, but should be back strong next year.

WR:  Joe Walker - Warren Central

QB:  Mason Wunderlich - Ev. Mater Dei

RB:  Micah Coyle - Center Grove

TE:  George Burhenn - Mt. Vernon

    OL:  Leighton Jones - Brownsburg

DL:  Josh Mickens - Lawrence Central

    LB:  Drayk Bowen - Andrean

    DB:  Dillon Thienemann - Westfield

K:  Elijah Slibeck - Warren Central

    Who did Roncalli piss off?

It is not the first time.  Mike Bohn led the nation in rushing in 1993 while leading Roncalli to a State title.  Award went to an O-lineman.

Yes exactly. They already have determined the dates this year instead of waiting. I've posted this before, but I'd rather they do 1, 2, & 3A on Friday and do 4, 5, & 6A on Saturday permanently.

I think it is good to spread out the large and small schools evenly with the crowds.  Helps with parking and everything else.

Though it does not always work out.   We were down there is 2016 and it was a mess with Center Grove and Roncalli on the same side

I have a friend with a kid on the team, I know this group has been watched since CYO. Just curious how they stack up. That is as impressive of a OL as you run across in Indiana HS.

I have coached a lot of the kids on the team or my son has played sports against them. You are right.  This group of lineman was talked about for a long time before they got to Roncalli.

***IF*** Roncalli were to run the table here, where does this team stack up in the Parthenon of Rebel teams? And yes I said Rebel teams, no Royal football titles yet. Lysander you’re one of the more Indy Catholic league in the know than most, what about the Roncalli faithful, what say you?

Kind of a side topic that shows you how big the Mt Vernon upset was last year.   It applies because some of the players are still on the team.

    Last years team:

QB who holds every single Roncalli passing record

WR who hold every singe Roncalli receiving record

RB who at the end of this year will own every single Roncalli rushing record

4 division 1 lineman and another who is playing at U of I. (three this year)

2 Mr. Football position award winners.  (My money is on Lauk for OL and Hanesn for RB this year)

Team that holds the all time Roncalli consecutive winning streak.

If Lockard is not concussed in Sectional final vs Chatard, Roncalli is in 5A and headed for  a three-peat.

Curious to hear who everyone thinks will win the rematch. First time around EC had 4 turnovers and still almost won. Can’t play like that in big games and expect to win. In my opinion whoever wins this will take home the blue rings.

My prediction: EC 27 Roncalli 21

I thought there were a lot of holding penalties called on both sides.  Roncalli had their second drive stall out that resulted in a missed FG because of a holding call.  Also had a TD called back because of a hold later in the game, though they ended up scoring on that drive.

It was a big contrast to the New Pal game that had very few called on both sides.

Not so sure, they lose a very strong senior class, including four starters on the OL.  I think NP probably takes a step back next year.  They have a really good freshman class.

NP lost starting RB two weeks ago, starting CB last week, and had on OL go down in practice this week and played on a bad leg.  But honestly, I'm not sure it would have made a difference.

Roncalli takes a huge step back next year as does Brebeuf (according to one of their fans I talked to here ) .  I think next year is all East Central unless Evansville Reitz figures it out.

this game was dominated on both lines of scrimmage by the Rebels.  period.

    Congrats to Roncalli.

I am kind of stunned how one sided it was on the line of scrimmage

The NP QB and his scrambling and passing to Thacker  kept NP in the game when the running game was not working.

NP should be very strong next year when the RB comes back from injury.

Unfortunately it happens -  great season, great program!  Your D did a nice job containing the explosive plays.  While the Trojans chunked the yardage they weren’t able to hit the home runs they had all season.

Looking forward to the Rebels next week….

Hey, hey, hey, be careful with the R word……

Luke Hansen went for right at 200 against New Palestine tonight. He started the game with one of the most violent sacks I’ve seen and continued to be a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball all game. He also broke Roncalli’s career rushing record tonight.

I ran out of allowed likes on posts, so my like does not show up on this one.

the kid from Andrean is a star, but what the heck does Hansen have to do to win it?   If he manages to carry Roncalli over EC next weekend, he willl run for 400 yards against whoever comes out of the north

Yes and No.  As far as SOS and only 1 win against top 64, the answer is yes.

EM's overall lower Sagarin rating is due to losing weeks 1 & 2 against teams that are lower rated.  Here is what it looks like on CalPreps. It doesn't matter at this point, but I would be curious what the rating would look like if the results in red were different.

I think North was definately a bad loss for EM.   Different team at that time, but those factors are not measureable data.
