  1. Was really concerned when I found out Friday that we would be playing without our starting running back. Perhaps playing so many games short handed during the season actually helped us last night and despite being handicapped Concordia acquitted themselves very well. Chatard really won the field position part of the game forcing the Cadets to start deep in their own territory. Pinning Concordia back on their own 1 yard line late was perhaps the winning play of the game. Will be interesting to see if any other 3A team plays Chatard that close the rest of the tournament.
  2. Not very much difference in SOS according to Sagarin. Chatard #27 and Concordia #41. Of the remaining teams in 3A that Chatard will play, Concordia has by far the best SOS. I think the game comes down to depth. Halftime score last year was 21-14, but the second half was pretty much all Chatard. This was the only game last year, other than Cathedral, that the opponent was within 7 points at half and where they gave up more than 21 points for the entire game. Hoping for a close competitive game.
  3. Had a good time talking to some of the Chatard fans at the ACME Bar and Grill last year. I will be coming down for the game, but will be going to my daughter's home (she lives close to Butler) to visit so I probably won't be needing the food recommendations. As you mentioned, Concordia had a large number of Juniors last year so expectations were pretty high for this year. Unfortunately we fell victim to the contact tracing quarantine situation and were without a fair number of starters for about 5 of the regular season games. Losing the Homestead game without our QB and 4 other starters really was disappointing and set the stage for the poor performance against Snider the next week with the same starters out for that game. It wasn't until the Oak Hill game that we started to gel back together after playing with constantly changing lineups. If we play like we did against Norwell I think we can be competitive, but who knows what is happening with Covid, by Friday we could be missing more players again. Really looking forward to Friday no matter what the outcome, this is the first time in Concordia Lutheran High School history that we have won back to back sectional football titles.
  4. This was not a Summit Athletic Conference decision it was a Fort Wayne Community Schools decision to not have fans. Concordia is an independent parochial Lutheran school and therefore does not need to follow Fort Wayne Community Schools guidelines. As of last night we will still be hosting fans. Could this change later in the week? In these times anything can change.
  5. Coach Mannigel has not tested positive and is in quarantine because of contact tracing.
  6. Carroll Wayne Dwenger Homestead The Snider Concordia game is the tough one this week. Snider offense is questionable and the Cadet defense is for real. It seems that Concordia will still be missing at least 3 of the offensive starters that were out against Homestead. Does the sophomore QB improve enough to give the O a chance without starter Brandon Davis? This game is a toss up but I will go with my heart and pick the Cadets. Maybe the real question is "Who knows who might be quarantined for this weeks games"?
  7. They do have very good chili. The smoked wings are great and their pizza is really good. On Friday nights they generally also have a bluegill fish special. I know that you are coming from out of town and may not want to drink, but they also have 26 beers on tap.
