From a Jimtown Insider, Coach Stoner had family ties to Fairfield, his father in law coached there.

Knox has talent back for this year, they truth will come out the folllowing years when this group graduates.

LaVille graduates leaders, but has a few pieces in the lower grades.

Bremen has some good seniors in Laidig and Graverson. They may be mid pack. I have no faith in Coach Leeper to increase the numbers, has been an issue for years.

I don't know what to say about Glenn.

Tippy will challenge Knox for the title.

(my views have no value, and are likely to change based on how hungry I am)

The real thing is....will Radtke be there 1 more year or 2?

Back to football. Has Knox played anyone this year? It looks like their regular season schedule is mostly 1A and 2A teams. They only beat 1A North Judson 22-18 and the best team they played all year, West Noble, they only beat 15-13.

Are they forced into their schedule due to conference rules or is it just too far for them to travel to play decent competition? I realize that it is easier to find tough games in the urban areas but wouldn’t it be worth it for some of these teams to travel just to test themselves?

If Chatard wins this game it will be the 10th hardest team they have played this year. Just a huge difference in preparation for the kids.

Tradionally they haven't been a good team until here lately. Radtke has that effect on programs. He almost instantly turns them into winners.

They are moving to a bigger conference next year with mostly 3a or 2a teams. Their current conference is mostly 1a or 2a schools but it's a pretty good small school conference. The Judson game is typically a terrible game to gauge them on with it being their rivalry.

Knox may play a perfect game and still get blown out in this game. I think the whole town realizes the uphill battle they face with playing the juggernaut of Chatard. Them trying to schedule a Merriville or Valpo (which i doubt the DAC schools would schedule them with them trying to prepare for the indy teams as well) wouldn't make that much of a difference for them. Except maybe cause a few more injuries and add a loss on their scheule.

In last years state finals it really looked like Lawrenceburg was determined to use this game plan. They had physical LBs to counter Chatard’s running game. They had a running game of their own to control the clock and keep Chatard’s offense off of the field. They got a timely turnover to keep Chatard out of the end zone and went into the half with the lead. Then they got behind. One solid Chatard drive (after a Lburg TO) on a short field changed everything. Chatard adjusted and widened their DEs, Lawrenceburg couldn’t hook the end and get the edge so they had to pass.

Astonishingly, it looked like they had never practiced the forward pass all year. It was unbelievable. They fell apart in the third quarter because they couldn’t throw the ball. I think they threw interceptions on three straight passes. Not possessions. Passes. I have spent the last year wondering why a coaching staff would spend an entire year in pursuit of a state championship and think that they could just run and play defense (I know Chatard circa 1956-2008 or whatever). It was as if they never thought that they would have to play from behind. Had they developed even a moderately complimentary passing game they probably win the state championship last year.

Honestly, I’m curious to know if Knox has the ability to not get behind and, if they do, throw the ball well enough to claw their way back into the game without crumbling under the stress.

    No they don't.

My apologies for the earlier multi spam of my comment. The submit button never registered that my reply was submitted. I thought I had website lag. Kept hitting the button. I’d already asked the mods to delete the long one.

Are you secretly a knox poster? I thought only rural communties had to deal with lag. lol

Were up 40-0 on Tippy Valley (similar enough) and will adjust to whatever Knox does.  Coaching staff is terrific, lots of seniors, lots of speed, lots of depth.   Knox's style won't be what gives them a shot if they have one.   They'll have to bully a better team for 4 quarters and do it without making mistakes or giving up points on defense.   Knox will have to score 3-4 touchdowns to have a shot and Chatard's "1's" on defense have given up 2 touchdowns since Labor Day.

I think you are out here arguing with yourself on this game. There is one Knox poster in this group and he/she has only said that the team has to believe they can win in order to win.

we have 37 of our 42 players coming back and some 8th graders coming in.   We had to play 3a football this past year with an enrollment of around 445.   2 years ago, Count Day, we had 528, by Xmas we had under 500, migrant workers and their families showed up and left, which left our school playing up.

So it goes, but we are a 2a school thru and thru

I miss the old Judson/RC sectional matchups,It's weird seeing Judson in 1a and RC in 3a. Seemed like every year it was the sectional championship game.

Context my friend. That scrimmage was played the week before the season started and Knox held out at least half their starters on both sides of the ball. Not to mention their top two RB’s. Maybe Tippy did the same thing, maybe they didn't, I don’t know. Tippy was good, had a great season and they should be proud of what they did but to say they would beat Knox by at least a td based on that scrimmage and using that logic to establish opinion against Chatard is premature.

100% this. Drawing comparison of 2 teams from a preseason scrimmage that maybe happend 15-16 weeks ago is a bit of a stretch.

Now will Chatard beat the tar out of Knox like they did TV? Probably, but we all hope not.

North Judson's results have been weird this year. Competed really well with Knox who is playing for a chance to represent the 3A North at LOS. Lost to Culver Academy who doesn't look like they were very special this year. Lost to Triton big and then turned around and smoked them in sectional. I'm assuming they have dealt with some injuries??? It's hard to compare seasons, but the losses this year were wins last year with the exception of Laville.

It was a mixture of having one of their top players out and the team finding their identity. Not saying they are a better or worse team than the previous 2 years but they are a much different team compared to those.

  9. Chatard has been the preseason favorite for a reason. Knox wasn't expected to do much this season but here they are.

Knox are still heavy underdogs in the game but they are a team that won't quit. Radtke is one of the best coaches all time and will have his team ready. Can he gameplan enough to stop the juggernaut that is Chatard? I don't think they'll have enough to keep up with them but that's why the game is played.

I'm happy for LaVille that they reached Regionals but sometimes I wish fans would know what size schools their opponents play.

West Lafayette, Guerin, Hamilton Heights and Western are four teams LCC played and are bigger than Knox and Glenn (two biggest LaVille played)

I do think LaVilles new conference will help with them adding Jimtown and my alma mater Tippecanoe Valley though.

think this is a bad take.  CC was just a better team and most knew it. Really don’t think the new conference will help LaVille that much.

West Lafayette played those same teams and Knox beat them without completing a pass. LaVille had a good season and had some big boys but didn’t have the athletes to compete with CC.

Definitely a great year for the HNAC!  There seemed to be a lot of balance in the top half with many close contests deciding the final conference standings.  Congrats to Knox, LaVille and Judson.  Great seasons for all of them!

In the 1A contest, I'm not sure either defense will be able to stop the opposing offenses.  This one will likely come down to ball security and costly penalties.  Should be a fun game for spectators!

LaVille slayed one parochial giant.  Can they take care of another one in the same season?  I don't think the Hoosier was as tough of a conference this year as it has been in years past.  But I would lean toward LCC at home.

This may be where Knox's strength of schedule catches up to them.  At this point they've played the weakest schedule of the remaining 3A teams.  On the road at West Lafayette will be a challenge.

Too bad they can't play the 2A and 3A games in the Lafayette area with a double-header on Saturday!  They would likely get a great following from Marshall, St. Joe and Stark counties!

Is every team the favorite this week at regionals? No.

Do i think we could have a similar post next week with all 3 teams at semi state? Yes.

All 3 of the HNAC schools will have their hands full with their opponent this week but I think all 3 have a chance to pull it out.

Knox- Must find a way to get stops and play mistake-free football. WL will be the best team they will have played and is a team that just understands how to win. It shows in their big comback win against Hanover.

LaVille- They need to contain the big play. I don't like their chances if it starts to turn into a high scoring affair.

Judson- Game plan needs to be similar to last week against Triton. Like LaVille, there has to be a big emphasis on preventing the big plays.

Everyone overlooking Park Tudors and thinking they’re a one man show are in for a surprise. I swear to God they are

I don't think Park Tudor is being overlooked at all, they are undefeated for a reason! They'll have the best athlete on the field on Friday with their future Harvard QB.

Judson has to win the trenches of this game and it starts up front with their 2 big DT's.

I imagine Park Tudor will have a hard time with the physical run game of North Judson, so it'll come down to the Bluejays' ability to contain the QB. I expect North Judson to (finally) have to make the trip to Adams Central for the 3rd matchup in as many years between the two schools.

AC is able to attack teams on the ground and through the air (a few times a game), which makes them more dangerous than last year in my opinion. The defense will have to be ready to stop the run game again this week I imagine. They've done it well all year outside of 2 drives against Madison Grant last week. If they get off the bus ready to go, I feel good about their chances to make it to their 5th semistate appearance in 6 years.

@FlyingHigh I don't follow rosters much, especially ones that are pretty far away from Judson but does AC return a lot from the previous year? Do you think this team is better than the 2 previous years and the one that finally takes down Lutheran?
