Really, who are you? Never seen you before and you show up and pick Snider to lose?? How dare you.

Ha, kidding. Good to see another Snider person here. You are incorrect in your pick !!

lol I used to have an older profile back when I was at Snider (2016 grad), but I was too lazy to remember what the username and password were so I just made a new account after falling away from the GID for a few years. I try to look at things as subjectively and analytically as possible, but I do have to consider some X-factors (rivalries, win/lose streaks, etc.). If I remember correctly (I don't have the paperwork in front of me rn) I had Snider as a 7.5 point favorite with the o/u at ~60 points. Dwenger isn't the caliber of past teams this year, but they come into this game more fired up than any other game so far. I think they have what it takes to pull it off, but the Panthers could also certainly bet them as well, which is why I predicted it to being down to a field goal ala weeks 1 & 2. Comes down really to how bad the Panthers want the Victory Bell.

Scheduling is not as easy as you might think. At least with a slate full of conference games, you don't have to fill the other ones.

I never said it would be easy. But would you rather have the easy to set up schedule that gives you the same competition year in and year out, or put the effort in to construct a schedule that gives you the best opportunities for your young men to grow and become more competitive? I know when I was at Snider, I really looked forward to the Penn games. It was something different, something exciting, and brought out the best in our players.

  3. South Side at Bishop Luers

Knights roll, and are rooting for the Saints. Final Score: South Side 10 - 56 Bishop Luers

    Northrop at North Side

I know I said the Legends were better than their record last week. I know I said rivalry games play tough. But I really expected the Legends to play better. I think the Bruins have the better defense, but Chambers is a really tough environment. Final Score: Northrop 21 - 24 North Side

    Carroll at Concordia

Not sure who has an easier matchup this week, the Chargers or the Knights. Neon Nation rolls. Final Score: Carroll 49 - 3 Concordia

    Wayne at Homestead

The Spartans come back home for this game pissed after last week. I see them coasting to a win, but something in my gut tells me the Generals could make this competitive. Maybe that's just the frozen pizza I had for lunch. Final Score: Wayne 13 - 42 Homestead

    Bishop Dwenger at Snider

The only people more ticked off than the Spartans this week are the Saints. But while Sparty lost on the road, the Saints lost at home... AND have to travel to another bitter rival this week. The Saints would like nothing more than to play spoil to the Panthers and what little SAC title hopes they have left. As much as it pains me to say, I think they're capable of doing it. If you miss this game, you're going to miss another classic. Final Score: Bishop Dwenger 30 - 28 Snider

Not sure there is an argument against it as much as a lack of agreement on HOW to do it.  I could be mistaken however.

Sagarin is not an exact science and doing it based on win/loss record would give schools incentive to schedule meaningless regular season games to pad their record.

I could be way off base here though.  I’m willing to admit that.

Maybe we could go the route of the CFP and seed based off of the AP or IFCA Polls?

Always is. As a follower of 6A and 5a football mainly, I miss the days of 8 team sectionals. The draw was always so exciting to see. Always had chances of new matchups and different schools traveling to different places. You just don't get that anymore. It is the same teams and same sectionals year in and year ou.

As a Snider fan, I am also sick of our Sectionals just being "SAC Regular Season 2.0" ever since 2013. We get no out of conference play until Week 13, which is absolutely atrocious. SAC needs broken up into East/West or North/South divisions, 5 teams to each. Play 4 games against all other teams in your division, 2 each of cross divisional games and out of conference, and save week 9 for championship week, where each team plays the team from the other division with the same ranking.

Then, rather than seeding each class and then basing sectionals off of those seedings, I have a different idea that would preserve the excitement of sectional drawings: at sectionals drawings, instead of telling each sectional which teams are playing each other, randomly pair teams from one half of the state together into sectionals, then seed those sectionals based off of who is in them. It would be wildly chaotic, but would mostly eliminate the issue of teams seeing the same competition in sectionals that they do in the regular season. It would be possible to have Indy teams and South Bend teams in the same sectional, or Fort Wayne teams and West Lafayette teams. There could be a sectional with the top teams in the class. Smaller teams could actually have a chance to build momentum and even make it to a State Championship game. I know a lot of people would be opposed to it, but I can't think of a more exciting way to do things.

  6. Concordia at Wayne

This one is a toss up for me. Generals have Coach Haydock, Sagarin rating, and homefield advantage on their side, though, so I'm giving it to them. Final score: Concordia 17 - 24 Wayne

    Luers  at Dwenger

Knights are a very good team. They play with heart and desire. Saints plays like they're ready to go home. However, The Saints usually play tough in rivalry games. This one could be close. Final score: Luers 49 - 31 Dwenger

    North Side  at South Side

I think the Legends are better than their record. I wont be surprised if they win out the rest of the season. Archers had an okay showing against Northrop, but are down again this year. Not sure if they are still feeling the virus bug from a few weeks ago, but they looked abysmal against the Chargers last week. Final score: North Side 23 - 7 South Side

    Snider at Northop

Spuller is the Panthers' house. Bruins are cruisin' for a brusin'. Final score: Snider 42 - 7 Northrop

    Homestead at Carroll

This is the best game in the North that doesn't involve teams name Merriville or Valpo. Sparty is 7-1 against the Chargers since 2015. This season, they are 1-2 in games against the top half of the SAC. Tomorrow they have to go into a hostile environment against a very good QB. My money goes to those records changing to 7-2 and 1-3, respectively. Chargers will still have a shootout ahead of themselves. Final score: Homestead 42 - 45 Carroll
