Yeah the DB being out could make it difficult to defend the pass with the threats they have at WR. To answer your question, I think the Reitz offense is what you would call balanced spread. They mix up run and pass quite a bit out of shotgun. They start a sophomore QB but have experienced talent at WR and RB. If they have a weakness I would guess it is their run defense, which is why I would predict a high-scoring game.

Might come down to line play. Can Jaspers line get to the QB or can Reitz protect him.

This is going to be a fun one. I'm ready to watch.

I agree. I think we see a heavy dose of the fullback and maybe even more passing. However, I will disagree on the scoring, I think it will be on the high-scoring side. Reitz will definitely score points with the talent they have on offense, but it's a matter of how much can Jasper score. You are right, it comes down to turnovers in that sense.

Is Reitz pass-heavy? Because I believe Jaspers's best DB is out hurt. Jasper's strength is definitely their defense. They need to be able to stop Reitz. I don't believe they can win a shootout.

I think Reitz was missing some starters on defense against Vincennes, so another question will be whether those guys are back too. If they play Jasper tonight at/near full strength they have a good shot. I would guess the Jasper starting QB will try to suit up tonight but how effective will he be? We shall see. Either way I think it will be a great game and I expect the bowl to be packed.

Should be a fun one. Jasper HAS to hang onto the ball tonight. If they have 5 lost fumbles and 2 turnovers on downs like last week, they are in for a long night.

I would look for them to maybe go less option tonight to cut down on the chance of fumbling and keep it between the tackles. I predict a low-scoring game. If it's not low scoring then it means Reitz is up big.

First home game for Linton and should be the first test for the Miners to see what kind of a team they have.  Linton is playing a lot of young players along with some seasoned veterans  returning at key positions, namely at QB, receiver, and running back.  Three tall receivers are good targets for senior QB Gennicks.  Gennicks is the leading rusher as well, taking one 96 yards last week at North Vermillion.  The first two games were running clock games and the varsity offense put up 106 points in the four quarters they played while the varsity D allowed 13 points.  Monrovia is much improved so we'll see if the Mines are deserving of the high rankings they have in the polls.  On a personal note, I didn't travel to the first two Miner games but I will be in attendance at this week's game, marking the 85th consecutive season I have attended Linton Miner football games.

What kind of size does Linton have across the o line. Any idea? And 85 years. That's awesome!!

It seems Harrison's win over Jasper might have quieted the PAC is just as good as the SIAC crowd.  At least temporarily.

From what I've read in the paper Jasper's QB didn't play the whole game and they lost Bair and then his backup during the game. Running a triple option offense with injuries to two out of three is really bad, no matter what Meatloaf said.

I've always felt week 3 was the turning point in a season. Maybe that's a carryover from the 8 team/7 conference game mentality. All code of conduct players will return and we start to see more connections for SOS type discussions.  I have known one team who had a goal to start the season 2-0, but that was a rare exception.

Hopefully Jasper will be full strength this weekend and come into the game like a bat out of hell.

Thanks for this. Has John Purdy decided what he is doing next year?

If you have a good program, good assistants, why would you leave?  What else are you going to do?

Look at Bud Wright at Sheridan.  He has been there 57 years as HC.

I thought that because he retired from coaching wrestling. I played for Brewer. I know some coaches stay a long time. It wasn't a knock.

He was the coach when they won state in 2000. I believe he has 10 wrestling titles as well...

I didn't think he was the head football coach then. Yeah. I know all about his wrestling titles. I wrestled at Jasper and team wise we received some real beatings by his teams.
