You mean in all your years of coaching you don’t know how to embed a video clip? Or are you just using that as a way to get an abstract answer you might be able to twist around to use later?

What I’m saying is you have to read “intent” in order to call the foul, and you can’t do that in the abstract. Show me a video clip and I’ll be happy to give you my opinion.

Please keep in mind that another type of false start is action which simulates the start of the play. Again, got to see it.

Lineman peg on hard SET, Hard count with a quick motion on 3rd and 4 with no play intended to run. To my understanding the hard count alone isn't a foul but mixing hard or quick actions could be a foul, given the specific scenario. Am I close?

As long as the ball does not break the plane of the goal line, it can be advanced by the defense.

Punts and FG's are both scrimmage kicks. Several years ago at a coaches' clinic in Indy, this staff from a small school in Wisconsin did not have anyone who could punt well, so they chose to line up in PAT formation and kick away. It looked funny on film to see a team backed up at their own 20 or so lining up to kick a FG. lol

    I remember reading about this.

If it lands on the 3 yard line and nobody touches it what happens?

If treated the same as a punt would it be declared dead and spotted on the 3? If it goes out of bounds at the 5 is that where the ball is spotted?

Aside from the higher possibility of a kick being blocked if the snap is at normal 7 yards (although that distance can be extended if desired) and the lower trajectory as well as being a little harder to cover what other disadvantages are there?

Seems like the place kick could be more accurately kicked if you have a good kicker. Could be a good weapon if used correctly.

Silver Creek isn't going any higher than 4A (if they stay there), Ctown may get to 4A some day; but the approved development ration between Charlestown and Sellersburg is currently 6:1.  Ctown has approved over 3k new units over the next three years.  Plus, the number of parents bitching about the headache of Sellersburg school traffic every morning continues to grow, while they basically remodel the existing school instead of building a new like needed.  Not hating, just saying.  Wish them well, but they are behind the curve for the next decade.

I can appreciate this opinion, but I definitely do not agree with it.

There is as close to zero chance as you can get that SC will ever drop from 4A.

Proportionally if Ctown moves to 4A, SC will have grown as well.

If you build it...they will come.

Silver Creek is a far cry from 5A.

I beg to differ. When they fill the new school they are building they will likely be 5A by the very next class re-alignment.

SC is growing exponentially. I've heard year after year they turn students away because there is no room.  The area is filled with industry and the new school and sports facilities will be very appealing.

Changing my pick to Charlestown over Brownstown

The big question to be answered this week is, how good is Charlestown?

Would also shed some light on how Corydon is this year. 28 points is nothing to shake a fist at against an always sound Brownstown team. That's considerable improvement considering they only scored 64 points all season last year.

Clarksville seems to be improving each year. Jumping out of the MSC was a good move.

I wonder how long b-town will be able to run the conference being in 2A

Moving down a class doesn't hurt BC. They've ran it in 2A before and it helps them move through the tourney without having to face Lawrenceburg, Gibson, Southridge, or Heritage Hills.

The big question is how long until SC joins the HHC. Their numbers will explode when the new school is finished.

Again...this is a blog.  I have said numerous times.....

Contact Commissioner Faulkens and get a definitive answer!

I am not here to haggle over minutia!  Perhaps you are

Minutia is what makes football such a great sport!

Not to be confused with Menudo, which is a delicious Mexican soup...

Why do school members get a say in this? Shouldn’t the athletic director have final decision? In the real world a direct supervisor would decide hiring decisions.

School systems are not "real world". Rarely are they ever ran like corporate America. Good or bad that's the way it works.

I would think/hope the AD's input would be highly regarded. They are the ones who know the programs and kids needs the most.

Absolutely a UR in my opinion.  I can't understand why its even a thought otherwise...

I'll be that guy, for discussion reasons.

I've seen plenty of actions similar to this that have not been flagged. Some way worse. What makes this UR. Does history of the particular player have anything to do it? Has he made this type of suplex style tackle earlier and been warned? Was the whistle blown before the foul occurred? I faintly hear what sounds like a whistle and suspect this is the case.

What exactly constitutes UR during an effort to get a runner down that wont seem to just go down?

Hopefully the young man involved is recovering well.

    PAOLI

Haven't heard a lot on Paoli. They have only played a couple games with a win against a struggling Corydon and a loss to kind of an unknown Perry team. Harrell has this week coming down to the wire.
