I’m not sure if this is really a hot take or not…but I think Chatard beats Roncalli

they lost 21-28 earlier this year and Chatard has 5 straight wins coming into sectionals

im not even sure where Chatard and roncalli stand for the playoff picture…I assume they are in the same sectional…but yeah I think Chatard gets revenge and throws the entire 4A bracket off.

    lost by 5 to Brebeuf

    10 to Warren Central

    7 to roncalli

5 dominating wins since losing to cathedral…I’m not sure roncalli is a lock

AGREE 100%.  I think Chatard surprises everyone.

I'm not sure if they are a favorite. I think New Pal and Cathedral are right there at the top as favorites in 5A. That being said, I think the numbers that the percentages come from are skewed only because of some of the conference opponents New Pal has (not in New Pal's control). Also there are 8 teams that can boost or drop for New Pal by the numbers in Sagarin and only 5 for Cathedral (since sagarin does not include out of state teams).

Actual talent and play between the 2 (New Pal and Cathedral) I think it's a toss up. Just my personal opinion.

Lets not forget, New Pal lost to Brebeuf by 4 touch downs!  Not sure what you are talking about.  I hope New Pal makes it to Regionals to play Cathedral.

I’ll stand by my claim.  Just because it was equally pitiful for both teams doesn’t mean it was the right decision to play this game at Arlington Middle School.  I don’t care what Cathedral deems it’s home field.

It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out when the 10 day forecast showed the amount of rain Indy was going to receive that this was going to happen.

Game could have easily been moved but I have a sneaky suspicion one team didn’t want it to be for obvious competitive reasons.

I’m all for what some folks above consider “old school football” but that was pathetic last night.

Its not hard to understand, this is our home field and it was a home game.  You obviously dont get it.  Enough said!

I am curious how they even managed to get 70 points in first quarter.  Is there a box score posted with scoring plays?

I read the scoring plays but the time left in the quarter is not accurate so I cannot tell how it happened, especially since there were not pick sixes.  All offensive TDs.  When it is 63-0 in the first quarter, how about we run the ball.  They threw a 35 yard TD to go up 70-0.

I was there, Bob, and the running clock started midway in the 2nd half.  I don't know why this would fire you up so much.  Morton had only one first down in the entire game and that came when a young man caught a long pass, late in the game, and although he was 10 yards behind our DB's he dropped the ball at about the 40 yard line.  It was the most one sided game I've seen in many years, maybe ever.  Let the coaches decide when the clock runs in this kind of situation!  It's cruel to score 90+ with the running clock.  There's not a good reason for it.

I was also at that game and agree with everything you just said!

The Mercy Rule is the exclusive manner in which normal game-timing can be altered. It doesn’t start until the 2nd half. Anything other than that is an error.

That’s correct. No exceptions. No agreement can alter that.

Well, Cathedral ran a running clock in the 2nd quarter last week.  I KNOW that I was there.  So obviously there are expections.

Regardless, its tough to justify 91 points

Running clock starts at half, and from the looks of it, everyone of the backs up played.

Not true.  When Cathedral played Morton last week, we started the running clock in the beginning of the second quarter.  Coaches agreed to that it.  Regardless, why score in the 4th quarter.  Whatever the circumstances, it looks really bad IMO.

Typically it does start in the beginning of the 3rd Q but can start earlier in these situations.

Cathedral played extremely well last night. My only concern was the number of injuries. 4 of the starting skill players are injured- both WRs Tibbs & Page, starting TE Spellacy and starting RB Mencer. On defense, Gilbert sat 2nd half with shoulder injury. Irish need to get healthy for Center Grove.

Thats not good...Had no idea those 4 skilled players got hurt.  I saw that 99 was sitting in the second half.  Hope the get healthy.
