  1. Congratulations to Kyle Buresh on his appointment to the Head Coaching position at Muncie Central. I'm a big fan of Kyle and I'm excited for what he will do there. He did an absolutely wonderful job at Mississinewa over the years and I'm sure he has a plan for the Bearcats. Coach Padgett laid a great foundation for him and I have no doubt that he will continue to grow and improve that program. I would share the link but it is behind a paywall and I'm frugal. Go Bearcats!
  2. Figured someone would have posted about this already. But this absolutely one of the coolest field designs in the state. Hats off to the Speedway folks that incorporated the IMS logo and the "yard of bricks" for the 50 yard line. Great job over there on the west side.
  3. Well, my humor was lost on everyone. Was referring to THE Ball State University Cardinals. Sometimes referred to in the phrase used above. Anyway, it is expected that they announce today. I doubt Coach Martin would leave for Purdue. All he does is win games/conference titles in Oxford. He has it pretty good there. But money always talks so it is not implausible. Back to the original thread, Noblesville has a good pool of qualified coaches interviewing, this week, multiple titles under their belt as assistant coaches and HC's. It will be a tough decision for the AD and the committee.
  4. Interviews are currently underway. I believe there are 4 candidates being interviewed, yesterday and tomorrow. They kept it open to get applicants and allow the process to play out. It will be decided this week, and go to the board for approval first week of January. The pool is very notable and there are some rings associated with the names. The supposed front runner initially took another job so this will definitely be interesting. Should know something very soon. The real topic should be focused on when the Harvard of the Midwest will finally choose their new HC? Word on the street is that there is a team meeting at 1pm today, and it will be announced. But we shall see. Tired of waiting. Chirp Chirp!
  5. That's fair Jets. But honestly, winning is the ultimate fix to anything. Systems don't matter. If Noblesville had ripped off 5 straight HCC titles and a bunch of post season success then we wouldn't be posting about it here right? Community interest never waivered in that town. They still show up, cheer, tailgate and follow the team. Support would have come if the wins were there. If they ran a system that everyone wanted and lost, we would still be talking about the same thing. Winning is the answer, especially in the HCC.
  6. Hebert is a great football coach. He won a lot of games there as a player, assistant and HC. He deserves a lot of respect for what he has accomplished at Carmel. And from what I have been told and my interactions with him, he is a great dude. His comment on the relationships that he has built over the years speaks to that character. And him saying that he is not done with coaching should ring out with other coaches around the area. If you want a great addition to your staff, I would blow up his phone this morning and get him hired now. He would bring a ton of value to any program. As far as who will take over there, I think it's very early, and they will most certainly get a ton of interest. I would think that they will want to stick with someone that has "big school" on their resume due to the volume and sheer ancillary factors that go into running that size of a program. We are talking well over 200 players and a plethora of non-coaching related items that have to be dealt with in a program that size. Being a program at a mega-school is not about x's and o's. It's about managing the program and hiring the right guys to do the actual coaching. Almost a CEO type position. That is a different dynamic.
  7. Got some info on this job. Noblesville will hold interviews and do their vetting process as normal going forward. If a coach wants that job he will have to apply and sit for the interview. Those are happening in early December. Decision will be made and will go to the board for approval in early January. So it's going to happen in a relatively short period. It's not a given on who will get hired. The names I have been told are good coaches, have won at other schools and range in age and experience. I know this is vague but we can't name dudes on here. The Carmel job opening will probably change things slightly in my opinion. While the other HCC powerhouse schools are doing their thing year in and year out, the Miller job is prime for some success. As I stated in an earlier post, they have the facilities, community interest and administration support to be a winner. From what I have been told they don't want to hit a home run here, but the absolutely want to to get the right guy. Getting the right guy will be imperative on how they move forward. If they settle on a name or a "flash in the pan" guy then expect to see more of the same from Cumberland Rd. But in order for them to overtake Westfield, Brownsburg, HSE and Fishers they will have to make sure it's done right.
  8. I don't post on here a lot, but I'm done coaching now. So I feel more comfortable talking in an open forum. But I have also heard that they have their guy, and he wants the job. Just speculation. You never really know until it is approved by the Board.
  9. That's not an unfair comment. When you rolled in there on a Friday, the place would be packed, tailgating had been going since 4:30, and there was a buzz about the place. The scheme did not produce wins, and in the HCC without those it's tough to justify. The HCC is loaded with really great coaching. And teams/coaches just figured out how to get over on them, a lot. They never got ran over, they just couldn't finish at times. Tough sledding for Dave for sure. Not winning doesn't make a bad coach. They were competitive every single week. And Boiler is right, they played hard and never quit. It's hard to win even if you are doing everything right. Every Friday is a bloodbath in that conference. At the end of the day, if they would have found a way to produce W's then we wouldn't be talking about this today.
  10. Dave is a great family man and you will not find a nicer guy in HS sports. I know he is passionate about his scheme and he worked tirelessly to get it going there. It was always great to see him on a Friday night and catch up. Having lived here in Noblesville for almost 24 years, this program is primed for a breakthrough but it seems just out of reach for every coach over the past few seasons. They have the pieces with facilities. If you haven't laid eyes on them, drive by when you're in the area. The Athletic Dept. is as good as there is in the state. They win in every sport. I think last years graduating class saw 11 state titles while they were students there (in multiple sports). Community support is great.
  11. Wanted to get this post back to the top and remind everyone that we are only a couple of days away from our clinic. Registration is still open and there are some open spots left to spend a day with some great OL/HC from around the state. We are really excited and look forward to seeing everyone Saturday. Contact me if you have any questions. Chris Radican 317-473-0096
  12. The 2023 Hog Talk has come and gone. I am so excited for what happened on Saturday. We had 5 great speakers. Coach Hardwick from Westfield made a huge impression on everyone and one thing is for sure: that dude is playing chess while the rest of us are playing checkers. All the coaches were impressive and I'm not sure how we can improve for next year's event. But we will sure try. I've already begun prep for next year's event with a long list that I will work down to a solid 5-6 guys. It'll be about the same time of the year and probably at the same location. If anyone has any ideas or input I am open to suggestions. If you were one of the 5 dozen coaches in attendance, please feel free to provide input and ideas for next year. I'm hoping to get over 100 coaches there next year and I'll keep working to make that happen. Have a great off season fellas! Chris Radican
  13. This will be the final post for this clinic. The 2023 Hog Talk Clinic will be taking place at Launch Fishers, located just off I-69 and 116th St. It's a great venue and the clinic lineup is very solid to say the least. Click on the link above if you are still interested in attending. I am excited for this event and we've been working since last year's event to make this one better than ever. We will be taking walk up registrations but if we run out of food I'm blaming those guys. Just kidding, I way over ordered just in case. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
  14. Let's get a few more coaches registered between now and Saturday. What a great opportunity to listen to 5 great football minds! Let's go. You won't regret attending that I will assure you. Coach Weitz has agreed to wear one of his special Grey T-Shirts for the event. That doesn't happen too often if you know Dave!
  15. Last and final bump. Until the next one. Great clinic coming up in Fishers next Saturday. Myself and David Weitz will be hosting the clinic at Launch Fishers, with a great lineup of speakers covering several topics in the OL game. Make sure and get registered. Also, great for youth and middle school guys as well. Nothing better than talking about OL play on a Saturday in the off season.
  16. Punttheball That's a great idea. I will definitely look into that for next year's lineup. Zone blocking is boring anyway. We need to mix it up😁
  17. I know Dave Weitz is going to post this also, but I want to get a jump on him. February 18th in Fishers we are hosting the 2nd Annual Hog Talk Clinic. This is a unique Offensive Line only clinic. The lineup is pretty diverse and specialized with multiple types of schemes and a dynamic speaker list. Here is the link for registration https://www.60secondclinic.com/hogtalk Speakers are, in no particular order Darrin Fisher-Whiteland HS Whiteland A Gap Power Scheme Jimmy Graves-Warren Central Inside Zone vs. Multiple Fronts Brad Wilson -U Indy: Uindy Perimter Run Game Michael Curtis-Warsaw HS: Fast, Fun and Fysical: The Three F's for Flexbone OL Success Nick Hardwick-Westfield Pass Protection in Detail We have about 150 years of football experience and knowledge in this group and it is a great way to spend an off-season Saturday. A light breakfast and hearty lunch will be provided along with a social afterwards at a nearby watering hole. I'm excited to be co-hosting this event with Dave, and he works tirelessly to make sure all the logistics are handled each clinic. This clinic was developed to offer the OL Coaches out there an opportunity to develop their skills and tools to ensure success on the field in the fall. Sharing and collaborating has always been a staple of Indiana football coaches and I am proud to offer this opportunity.
