I do think that atmosphere will be something to watch it's affect on how we come out in the opening quarter.  It will be different that playing at the Roy.  We cant afford to make mistakes.. and we dang sure can't get down early.  I think the more the game goes that we are even.. or hopefully up..or at least within a score... the more our chances can grown.  Getting down 17-0 (ala against Scecina in 2017) early... and it's hard to climb back on the road.  We have to be able to move the ball.  Mater  Dei is definitely a disciplined team, and they've played some difficult competition... big fast competition.   I've said it a lot these past 2 weeks... these last two games have seen the best Linton has looked since the 2016 championship run.  They definitely are playing at their most confident level...and are executing solidly in every phase.  But Providence and North Posey are not on the level of Mater Dei.  But we did take care of business as we were supposed to.

I remember how I felt going into the games with Ritter....and I can remember how in both cases Linton "didn't stand a chance" against the athleticism, or the speed, or the size, or the history, or the magnitude... because back there I don't think there was the respect for Linton in big games.  Both Ritter games we lost, but both we very well should have won... but that's not the point... which is that we played nose to nose with them.  Scecina much the same scenario...other than getting down 17-0 in the first meeting.  That second meeting was one for the ages, and we couldn't get it in from 1/2 yard away.  Lutheran was supposed to come down and tear up one year...  I guess my point is that you have to buy in 100% that you can win a game like that.. against the odds.  I don't have doubt these kids have that same feeling within them that I've seen in other years....

Dang! I hung it up too soon! Hate not being at the Bowl Friday! Semistate-type game in the sectional semifinals!

Oh well, I’ll be watching and listening

If I remember correctly, last year's game wasn't really that close.  However, this is a different year.    Will go 34-6 Mater Dei.   Once again, would love to see Linton win and be wrong about this outcome.

And last year’s Linton team wasn’t quite the same as this year’ team.

As you said, this is a different year.

Have you every considered the respect for Miner Football after we Won the State Championship? No longer a need to play petty arguments about this an that. Thats where al the posts came from. Miner Football is STRONG and the whole State knows it. I as a Miner Alumni have no reason to engage in crap. We Play   We Win. We Play   We lose.  Dont need much board talk other than Miner Prides weekly report s a Blessing. That should be all we need NON COACHES!

Maybe this game thread never got going because somehow the conversation turned to Mater Dei 😜

  4. I’m with you on this.

North Knox is a known quantity. We know they’ll have big boys up front and employ a power running game. As they usually do. And Holtman Doades has been impressive so far.

I’ll admit the Warriors got my attention when they caught Boonville sleeping. NK is capable. And they pushed Sullivan.

But the Miners handled Sullivan pretty easily. In the end I think Linton’s speed and quick-strike, big play capability will be too much for the Warriors.

Definitely hate to see my friend ts32 head out.. but I KNOW we will still get to hear his thoughts...perhaps even more-so right here.. no matter where he roams!

So I am hearing the starting QB at ND suffered a Concussion at West Vigo and will not be playing this week. Hopefully he will be ok as the year progresses.. Certainly been a terrific start for 2019 in Coach Fine's 2nd season at ND.

As you mentioned Townsend filled in at qb tonight. Good athlete and a hell of a basketball player. Playing football for the first time this year I think.

Nice to see good athletes multi-sport!

  6. Watching the Greene County Sports Network webcast tonight for the first time.

I get it now. I mean the “shortcomings”

Guys, just give me down and distance, ball on whatever yard line, time remaining and I could cover Miner football remotely from the comfort of my kitchen!!! On scoring plays, how many yards did it cover and how much time was on the clock! Instead of all the jibber-jabber!

I don’t mean to trash GCSN.Rocks. Like Phil Harris Golf Course, at least it’s something, it’s there and it’s convenient.

But for crying out loud, at least give us the basics!!!

Considering North Daviess is 4 - 1 this year instead of 2 - 3, 0 - 5, and 0 - 5 like the past 3 years, that would suggest "improvement".  However, let's not forget, the Miners are improved themselves.  They haven't been sitting  back just waiting for other schools to catch up.

Gotta admit, you were right. Linton has improved much more than North Daviess has. 41-8 Miners at the half
