I suspect that the fingernails of the Lutheran fans will be intact after the game.

In each of the last two years, the Sagarin predictor had Lutheran as 28 point favorites.  One TD game, for (2021) and against (2020).  To claim LuHi fans have Covenant PTSD might be a bit dramatic, but not far off!

Sectional 45: Sheridan @ Hagerstown (JH prediction Sheridan 42-14) - I don't know much about the South this year, so I'll need to rely on other GID posters for these matchups.

Sectional 46: Knightstown @ North Decatur (JH prediction ND 42-0) - I expect North Decatur to advance and will be surprised if they aren't Lutheran's semistate opponent.

Sectional 47: Lutheran @ Covenant Christian (JH prediction Lutheran 49-21) - This is the matchup I'm most curious about, as AC pulled off a 42-19 win against CC in week 3. As an AC fan, this will be the only chance for me to compare the Jets to Lutheran if we make it back to state. The AC game easily could've been a much larger deficit.

Sectional 48: Tecumseh @ Providence (JH prediction Providence 31-30) - Congrats to the winners of sectional 48, but whoever comes out on top will only play 1 more week.

    1A South:

Sect 45 - Sheridan has been running over teams lately with their big back, and that should continue against Hagerstown.  The run will end with a sectional title, as North Decatur awaits them in the regional.  The Blackhawks have some athletes, but not nearly as many as the Chargers.

Sect 46 - The title game occurred in the first round (Tri), the second round (Milan) was a challenge, but the third round (Knightstown) will offer a nice break for North Decatur.  JV players will see their last signifcant snaps of the year.

Sect 47- Forget the JH prediction (49-21, LuHi).  This game will go one of two ways:  1) a one-score game favoring whoever has the ball last, or 2) Lutheran triggers much Facebook angst by hanging 80 on the Warriors, throwing deep for the last two scores.

Sect 48 - Rooting for Providence in this one, but think Tecumseh is simply meaner.  Tecumseh's #25 looks like he's 5 years older than everyone else on the field.  Should be a good game.

I was just toad Park Tudor and Clinton Prairies  have to replay their sectional game due to PT having 12 on the field the last 3 plays on defense. CP was in the red zone and lost by 6. Has this ever happened before?

I just wanna know who was able to take drone footage of an IHSAA tourney game.

Why would Tri beating North Decatur be considered an upset?

Tri beat them last year and both teams returned the majority of their players.

Based on the current Sagarin ratings, ND would be two TD favorites over Tri.  The game will likely be much closer than that, but I think the ND defense gives them the edge.

North Decatur?  I don't even think they could beat North Judson.  Sheridan fans thought they could beat 5a Champs (Ben Davis) in 1988.  Sheridan beat Breman 59-0 in the 1a state finals game and was ready to take on Ben Davis.  Most people thought Sheridan could not beat Ben Davis in 1988.  Some things never change.

I think North Decatur could win the 1A north.  The question is, can they win 1A south?

    South Putnam.

No one has talked about South Putnam, but they might be the toughest out in the 1A south.  The way the ping pong balls bounce, Lutheran/South Putnam might just be the first round game in sectional 47.

I shoulda bought a lottery ticket right after posting this.

Lutheran/South Putnam in 1st round is almost as bad as North Decautur/Tri in the 1st round.

But many in the northern latitudes of Indiana think anything south of I-70 is Kentucky anyway, so...

    Can confirm.

I like their picks for sect 46 & 48, but I take exception with their ranking of the top two teams from 48 (Providence/Tecumseh) over the top two from 46 (North Decatur/Tri).  If 46 met 48 in the regional, 46 would be moving on to semistate.

Wondering if anyone has seen sheridan play this year?  seems like they r rolling and no one is talking about them?  they are having no issues with 1A schools so far.

I don't think anyone will challenge Sheridan in sectional 45.  But after watching them recently, I still don't think they'll be able to hang with North Decatur in the regional.  If Tri were to upset North Decatur in sectional 46, I think they'd also beat Sheridan.

With this last weekend, Lutheran seems to have fired a shot across the bow to anyone from the south who might be thinking of traveling to LOS for anything other than the popcorn ... the rings will be off limits.

There will be some good games along the way in the south side of the bracket:

Sect 46 - North Decatur will face Tri at some point.  Interested to see that ND defense face the Tri run game.

Sect 47 - Covenant/South Putnam/Lutheran should provide two good games.  Personally hoping the ping pong balls put South Putnam/Covenant on the other side of the bracket.

Sect 48 - Tecumseh/Providence should be a good game.  I know so little about this sectional that I was unaware there were any Catholics left in 1A.  I thought that was the point of the success factor.

South Semistate - Sagarin would have Lutheran facing North Decatur in a battle of two great defenses.

Should be a lot of fun to watch!
