What? Who has 45 D1 players? That’s ridiculous? What Indy school has that many. And how does that refer to Andrean? Or Merrillville? I stand by what I said both of these schools should be on this list. As both of them realistically have a shot to be in a title game. Not saying it will happen but they realistically have a good chance. Andeans only comp in the north will be probably Adams central at semistate which on paper there is more talent on the niners. Merrillville on the other hand? They just demolished who they would see at regionals. Semistate?? Lafayette Jefferson?? Maybe? I don’t know a whole lot about the 5A schools outside of NWI. Concord maybe? But not sure concord can hang with the athletes the pirates have? again not saying they are state champs but they realistically are favorites in the north to get there. And at some point Merrillville has to break there semistate curse? Andrean has a better shot to win state but both can be there. I’d go out on a limb and say 4? 5? NWI teams make state this year. crown point, Merrillville, Hobart, Knox, Andrean, north Judson, are all probably favored to get to semistate at the least

Merrillville is a top 12 team that’s all I’ll say. And where is Andrean 🙅

As someone who has seen them close and personal. They have a great secondary and alotnof weapons on offense. But they have an issue on both sides of ball. defense line is horrible against a power run team.. and offense line struggles to open run lanes. Great at pass blocking but issues in run game. If they get the Oline solid in the run they have 2 1000 yard rushers from last season that will start to hurt everyone. They have been quiet so far. Defense is solid against the run unless you got a line like crown points and they are toast. Why not? Who honestly stands in the way

You don’t think valpo can correct it by state tourney like they did a few years ago?

They need to straighten this out because there are over half the coaches in state saying you can move up and they do accumulate over 2 classes. It doesn’t reset to 0. Guess we will find out.

As I was told by a new pal coach if they make state this year they move to 6A next year. They don’t have to stay on a class for 2 years. Now your right they can’t go back down because they have 4 points but if they make a run to state they move to 6A even if they don’t win state just making it pushes them to 6A. that’s the same reason snider didn’t move back down. They had 4 points year prior and you only need 2?? To stay up. teams can move every year up. But down they gotta lose in sectionals two straight years if he told me correctly.

Maybe city can shock everyone and beat the bulldogs end of year and make the DAC a 3 way tie lol 😂

To correct you it’s a 2 year rolling cycle. So it’s not this year and next year. It’s last year and this year combine for the next year. Teams can move up and down yearly now.

New pal is definitely the favorite. But I wound t count out cathedral and east central in south. They have the talent to make things a fight. And in the north. As much as we all hate to hear it. I wouldn’t look past Lafayette Jeff or Merrillville. Both have the speed and athleticism in the spots needed to beat new pal. But yes new pal is the favorite

Andrean is a cake walk to semistate as long as healthy Merrillville sound be at least at semistate. But there game this week will tell a lot. crown point as much as I’m not na fan probably will get there unless Penn shows up. Hobart is the only one I feel will walk into state as long as chatard in south. (Don’t remember) north Judson can do it I have Knox falling before semistate. Just not a fan.

I can see Merrillville running the rest of there schedule with ease. With maybe a small challenge from The wolves this week. Merrillville shouldn’t have another competitive game till regional/semistate depending on how city and valpo show up over next 3 weeks. we will have 5 NWI teams make semistate this year

Exactly the reason they showed yesterday. There defense and offense is better. The only thing valpo has on city is coaching. Everything else goes city’s way yearly Merrillville @ city next week could Be a good one. I’ll be at valpo Chesterton

Gibbs came off all game here and there but still played 90% of snaps

Not sure Merrillville puts the jv in lol they don’t have a back up QB. As there back up QB is a starting WR right now. They gotta work with the O-line id keep the varsity offense on the rest of year. And work work work But no backups came in. They are people that rotated from the first snap of the gsme.

Depends how you view the game. Merrillville sent them backward the first 2-3 drives. and were easily moving the ball down field. Merrillville was running ball to outsides very well. But then when they got to a 3rd and 1 2 straight drives they tried to throw deep instead of taking what was given to them. That’s coaching. But also Merrillville wouldn’t allow there very mobile QB to use his legs the first half that’s a game changer. It was 13-0 at half. crown point literally just lined Gibbs up under center in 1st half after Jere offense did nothing and just basically ran a Gibbs push from under center that averaged like 5-7 yards a carry. Every time Merrillville shut down something they went back to Gibbs under center. Thats how I viewed it. But to each their own. Merrillville put up over 350 yards in just the 4th qtr almost. they found what worked to late but they pulled it close in 4th. I left with 7 mins to go it was 28-7. I got home with 2 mins to go it was 28-21. Not sure how or what happened. Just know ther eQB threw for over 290 in the 4th. They are missing a OT and 2 WRs but not sure that would have made a difference ce Merrillville coaches not being able to adjust to Gibbs and not allowing there offense to play off each other ruined it. but outside of Gibbs im not impressed with bulldogs at all. They gotta find something or the duneland will rely on Merrillville to make a run in 5A

Why is everyone doubting Michigan city?

I don’t think so portage is horrible. They should be able to have a running clock of not close to a running clock by half. From what I understand they are healthy now since week 1 outside of missing a WR that’s still out a few more weeks

Week 4 duneland conference spreads. Merrillville(-35) over portage Wolves (-10) over valpo Chesterton (-17) over slicers crown point (-28) over lake central

Merrillville has been in top 25 for last 3 weeks. Yall dropped them out for losing to a top ranked Loyola team that they should have beat. (If you watched the game you know the truth) and to a crown point team that can’t defend the pass. Not making excuses for Merrillville but down a starting LB and 1 DT. That changes the fact crown point can run. Crown point can’t do anything but run but they won fair and square. All I’m saying is this team is top 10! And will be in state finally after the last 8 years. Now they will lose at state but they will be there

As I said. im not a big Merrillville person. But there team is different than years past they don’t quit and they get stronger as game goes on. I believe there QB is top 5 in passing in state? And they have 2 RBs that were a top 3 duo in state last year that haven’t gotten going yet. This team is definitely a top 10 overall in state. But time will tell fully expect the purple and white to win by a huge margin this week with a shutout

The following schools I think lose to them by 2 TDs LJ, Warsaw would be close, east noble, and all of 21-25. Andean could beat 23-25

I’d have Merrillville in. I know they are 1-2 but the lost to two top teams. a 3x back to back to back state champ in Illinois and then top 5 in 6A crown point. I mean they would beat all of 19-25 I think. also how about some Hobart love? Or Andrean?

I mean I like the sport now more than ever. Love the ever changing landscape. The unpredictability. And if coaches are promising things. So be it I guess. It’s about the title and always should be about the title. There is no place for loyalty in sports. You need to do what’s best for yourself and your career and your job. That’s how I look at it.
