2025 Duneland Conference Preview
Flyingangel replied to Flyingangel's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Not gonna defend the guy, but Cody is more often than not correct. Especially when it comes to injuries. If I’m not mistaken he is a volunteer coach at there practices all week but he chooses to be a fan in stands on Friday nights. So I have been told. But enough about his. lowell/crown point on the other hand. I remember an article about them talking about taking a break for a short time but I believe buses was the one that commented that the rivalry was more important than upgrading that game to his team. -
Pre-Season Poll (inspired by Temp)

Not disagreeing just hearing cathedral lost almost all there jv to another school so they have no “experienced up and comers” -

Cathedral to high for how much they lost. And with all the merrilvillle talk I would put them top 17. Zionsville I don’t see as a top 25 team. -
What’s there not to hate? To many touchbacks. More injuries worst starting field possession. I’d penalize teams for putting it in end zone like the nfl is talking about doing. Probably won’t happen but has been brought up in the owners meetings

Unless you have a Indy address your not an Indy school in my book.

Westfield is always a threat. And if Carmel has the right coach they will be back in contention

Merrillville 2025
Flyingangel replied to 23andCounting's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Kid looks good on the film I have seen. But other people around the team said all he is is more mobile while the QB last year is head and shoulders better on throwing time will tell -
Merrillville 2025
Flyingangel replied to 23andCounting's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Seen him post on Facebook that they had a transfer but he supposedly is best friends with the QBs dad from last year all he said was they were told if the kid would of been eligible last year he would of started all year. Still don’t make sense to replace a kid that led you to semistate. Unless the transfer is miles ahead of him -
Merrillville 2025

Guessing no one had an answer to why the pirates are benching the QB that got there to semistate? -
Exactly. Pike isn’t a threat to anything. There are only 4 real threats in 6A 2 in south 2 in north
-
What does pike actually have? I mean you can take the bottom 2-3 teams in the MIC and place them in duneland and I’m not sure they would be blow away winners. On paper all pike has over the 3 is a tougher schedule, but when it comes to talent and coaching I’m gonna go with the other 3 And if crown point wins by more than 14?
-
As much as I want to see them lose to pike, I just don’t see it happening.. I think Merrillville and valpo both would walk through pike with little to no issue. I’d say both win by 10-14 at the lowest. crown point should win by 21+ but time will tell. Just don’t see pike as a threat
-
I mean definitely not counting them out. But they are nowhere near on talent of teams of past coaches don’t make the team gotta have talent also. And between you and I I think there TEs are just overhyped they are both really good for DAC but put them in hcc or mic and they are probably rotational players
-
Crown point is gonna be nowhere near the level of talent the last 3 years. Outside of the TE I’m not sure they have anything else. Saw some footage of them so far and they don’t look superior. They look like the crown point of 4-5 years ago. The two teams in the DAC that stand out right now are of no surprise Merrillville and portage still has a good amount of talent
-
Valpo won’t be top 50 this year 😂
-
Come on temp I hear it’s legendary. Take the stab do the top 5 for each class. Instead of top 25 overall to start season

Personally I don’t see the major hype in crown point. They had a great senior class come through now we need to see if he can continue to build it. Time will tell the story -

If im not mistaken from what I have seen through articles I think the front runner at QB is incoming junior chase Horton if I’m not wrong. And running back I heard it’s by committee as no one stands out. Crown point should take some steps back this year, still believe they are the top of DAC They lost an incredible senior class. The jv over last 2 season might have had 2 losses with the most recent loss being to Merrillville jv last season 20-14 @ crown point. there freshman team was 5-4 -

I feel like 6A is a stretch and they might be top 10 in 5A but not a threat unless they have a special class coming in. Just can’t see them beating cathedral or east central consistently -

Interesting makes me wonder if they can compete at the higher levels -

How good will dragons be this season? -
It makes allot of sense to bring it to high school especially if college adopts it. Personally hate all kickoffs and think it should be taken out the game
-
There were 7 last season compared to 4 the year prior. touchback rating in 2023 was 74%. Which was a record high for nfl compared to 2024 it was 61% lowest in last decade almost. avg return 2023: 23 yards a kick return 2024: 29 yards a return or something like that. the new kickoff works in every aspect they wanted it to work. And they are considering now penalizing teams for putting it in end zone. It was a rule discussed this offseason but was tabled for December???
-
It’s highly unlikely as they changed this to allow more kickoff returns and returns are up over 60%! also the owners and a lot of players are said to love the new kickoff as it allows for more chance to return for a TD.
