It’s just a matter of time before the kabosh is put on for everyone unfortunately.  Once there reaches a limit of so many schools not having in-school instruction and suspendIng athletics everyone else will follow suit.

Kabosh?   We all know teams will have to suspend practice for week or have player quarantined.   Jesus Michigan just announced fall sports will happen.   Will every school participate.   Probably not.   Will there be a fall season?  Yes

I haven't heard about anything about it around here. If they do limit the number of fans, who do you let in?? You can't have hundreds lining up at the gate and turn most of them away. It should be done in advance. Let the parents and close family get first dibs and the remaining go to the public. First come, first serve after that until tickets are gone.

Parents then lottery?  Maybe 6 tickets per player then lottery?

  3. Here is where I think ihsaa is screwing up.    Set attendance at on 50% to start the season.   Schools should charge $10 to enter instead of $5.      I'm not a technology advanced person but can you charge people to watch a YouTube channel?  If so stream game and charge each person $10 to watch.    I think everyone would be willing to help out the schools by paying 5 extra dollars to have football in fall and also get money to schools that need it.

General question: can anyone find an AAU basketball, travel soccer, or travel baseball tournament that has been cancelled due to COVID concerns since June 21st?

I can’t find one. Therefore, I’ve come to the conclusion that you can only catch the coronavirus Monday - Friday at an IHSAA sanctioned event.

    That’s the only explanation.

Well that's a great question and can't disagree with the conclusion.

You cant have your cake and eat it too. It was first responders and nurses time to step up in all of this....and they did and are..  now its the teachers turns to be the heroes.. and they are complaining about not being able to be in the pj's all day at home in front of a computer.. guess I hit a nerve with a few of you.. but its all over facebook.. there is a petition on Facebook made by Indiana teachers with a long list of unacheivable demands. Now I understand its not all of them. But its a very loud group. My wife and I can not afford to elearn again. We both work full-time with jobs that we can not adjust our schedule.. so what now? Go to a private school? Idk it's unreal.

I went 3 houses down from mine july 3rd at a teachers house for party.   She is high school teacher and her husband did phenomenal job on the grill.    Great food all day, lots of drinks all day, and not one peep from her that there was more than 30 people in her back yard.   Fast forward to monday where on a tv stations Facebook page pronouncing how scared she was to go back into the classroom.   We have to get these kids back in school.  I'm not trying to demean teachers but I've seen first hand the agenda of some of them and I do not like it.

Its been very interesting to watch teachers bashing parents on Facebook that support going back to school. Teachers were "devastated" in March. All I saw was "our kids were ripped away, it unfair." Now they are being asked to step up and help take precautions and help kids get back in the classroom and they are like "there's no way!, its not safe!" as said teacher goes to 4th of July parties, Meijer, out to eat... its sickening.

Been saying that for week.   All of sudden it's time to go back to work and the I'm scared starts.  Somehow these people survived 5 months with never leaving their homes.

My superintendent was adamant Washington Township acted independently.  Every other Marion County superintendent plus some from Hendricks and Hamilton had a conference call with city officials yesterday and were told to proceed as planned but be flexible.

Good decision by rest of schools.

Just wait until parents really begin speaking up.
The science says schools need to be open.
This is not good, but not for the “virus”.

I can’t wait to see the schools that stay open and move forward safely.

Parents need to speak up.   This has gone too far.

Does this force Valpo to do the same?

Northern Porter County:  Portage    Suspended activities

    Mid Porter County:   Valpo/wheeler

Southern Porter County:  Boone Grove  Suspended Activities

Unfortunate for these athletes that the word not to be spoken (politics) is more important than them getting to live their life.      Only good thing I see is suspended not canceled.

I see a weekly rate of hospitalizations that peaked on May 23 and May 30th for ages 5-17, (0.5 per 100,000) and May 23rd for ages 18-19 (3.3 per 100,000).  Both have fallen since then.

Doesn't matter what you numbers you throw out or facts.   People are dead set for a shutdown no matter what you show them.  People just want to stay locked away.  It literally is sad!!!!

when you look at hospitalization rates, what do you see for the age groups that would include high school and college football players?

What did mortality in the US look like yesterday for COVID as compared to April 2020?

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

Risk is just not the probablilty of incidence....it is also severity.

Just so the people in back can hear me.  ONLY 380 PEOPLE DIED IN THE UNITED STATES YESTERDAY FROM COVID!!!!!!!!!!!!!   20 percent of those were from arizona.   By shutting down season you are taking jobs away from people and part of life these kids will never get back.   STOP BEING RIDICULOUS AND WAKE UP!!!!!!!

I see a herd mentality developing here that desires that the season commence regardless of the cost.  That is not prudent.  Its very Trumpian actually.  Ignore the facts and the experts and go with your "gut"

Ignoring facts????   2 people died yesterday in indiana.    Apparently you are the one ignoring facts.

If we don’t push back and say no, the powers that be are going to keep pushing things on us the vast majority do not want.

I just went to CDC site myself and saw that 15-24 year olds, nationwide have had 142 deaths.  All of which had PE conditions. It’s out of control what the Govt, IHSAA, schools and so on are doing here.  Missing school, work, being locked down, missing sports, band events, Cancelled/postponed weddings, not having visitors when you are 80 years old in Nursing Home and lonely, cancelled family vacations, Church closings will all take a mental and physical toll on people.  What is going to be the long term effects from these things?   A lot worse than the virus.
I’m not even taking into account that during the lockdown, alcohol abuse went up, as did spousal abuse, suicides and many more unintended consequences.  It’s time to say no and say what we all know to be true.  Let’s open everything up, use common sense and move on.  It’s life and we can’t live life in the state of fear from the unknown.

Can I get a AMEN on this one!!!!!!!!

Honest question but how can schools be liable when sending them is an option and not mandatory? At least around where I live E-learning is an option. How can schools be liable when parents CHOOSE to send them?

No school should be held liable when a kid get covid.   Every parent has a choice whether to send your children to school or let them be involved in extracurricular activities.
