Out of IFCA's hands.  I am sure that the players mentioned were invited, but their college coaches didn't/wouldn't let them play.  To be honest, it was good to see the players who were on the field Friday night.

From what I have seen in games across the state, the QB playing defense is most prevalent at the 1A and 2A levels because of numbers.  It occurs occasionally at the 3A level on a situational basis.   I have not seen any QB's play defense at the 4A or 5A level.  At those levels, why would you put one of your most valuable and important players at risk?

What a moving tribute by Coach Mannering's daughter and those who did not know what kind of man, Coach Scott Mannering is, this should give you all you need to know.   

I have been fortunate to have been able to coach against him from his time at Lewis Cass and now at Twin Lakes, he is what this video depicts, competitor through and through but also does not lose sight of his purpose in  life.   Cheers to you Coach Mannering

 

A very good man, excellent coach and even better mentor.  He had a very significant influence on my nephew when he played for him at Cass.  I believe to this day, that my nephew would not have finished HS if not for the encouragement and trust Coach Mannering had in him.
