From what I’m seeing in the twitter verse....Central is definitely the favorite...and that Evans kid y’all have been arguing about....yeah...have fun stopping that kid 😂  RIP SIAC defenses

Not denying their ability but you still need an O line now matter how good.  Plus cant go back to getting 4 and 5 personal fouls a game like 2 years ago.  Thats ultimately what done them in.

I continue to hear good things about Bosse.  Would be nice to see them have some success. The more I hear it’s Central and maybe really competitive for the rest.

Bosse always has athletes, if they could ever get the numbers to come out that probably would be the biggest boost for them to move up the ladder.

Is it possible that he served the suspension by sitting out of a track meet while enrolled at Princeton? Or would the suspension have to be in the sport he got ejected from?

    Great week for the #FaceOfSportsmanship

Has to be in the same sport.  Even the IHSAA wouldnt come up with that dumb of a rule.  Was he even at Princeton long enough for that anyway?

He never played at either school B or C and he is now back at A where he was kicked out of regional game. By the spring of that school year he was suspended from school and sent to alternative school. I won’t mention why , but it falls under code of conduct. The family moves anytime they get in trouble.

    Central

    St. Louis

    Central

    Princeton

    Somewhere in Illinois

    Central

The best part the dad always ends up with a job in what ever corporation they’ve landed.

I’m all for second chances but this is comical and you can bet Paul Neidig and Andy Owen have everything to do with this family making a mockery of IHSAA, the SIAC, and high school sports.

No suspension served there but they did quit after a couple games.

I know they only played a partial season in IL but didnt hear the reason.

I have not followed the Evans brothers careers so I don’t remember what school they were at last, but IHSAA transfers deem the penalty be served at the next school. So if he had a suspension at School A (and didn’t have time to serve the penalty), School B must have him serve the penalty before allowing him to play.

Hope that makes sense. (I’m not saying it’s right just the IHSAA rule.)

They havent played at another IHSAA school though but Im not sure how the rule specifically reads.  Im sure there will be a special exception for this though.  Eisenhower in Decatur, IL is the only place they have played since last being at Central.

Sounds like one Panther fan has not adjusted well to the new norm of Central kicking Panther butt. Seems you are taking out frustrations by demeaning the entire program because of your perceived dislike for a couple of well-traveled teenagers who have had a difficult life. Only one team in Evansville boasts a better record over the past 3 seasons than the Central bears. A lot of good coaches and players should have earned respect for that.

First off its not the "new norm".  Its a very small sample of 3 years out of the past 75.  And look at the facts, Central was much better when the brothers left in all phases of the game.  And still will be better without them than they would be with them.  Central has 3 RBs this year that is just as good as the drifters and way more disciplined.  The proof is in the pudding from last year.  And look what Central done to Reitz without them compared to with them.  Even more proof.

    Two words: Paul Neidig

He will make sure it’s approved.

    If I am correct

Central to St. Louis back to Central to Princeton to somewhere in Illinois and now back to Central. All to avoid suspensions and all for sports. Seems legit to me!!

It was Decatur.  If I remember correctly it was to Princeton because their dad got a job there.  According to the article that was the reason for moving to Decatur but he is staying there and not coming back.  Crazier than a soap opera.

Princeton vs GS in semi state!  Lol. Just because it can actually happen 😂 oh lord ihsaa what have you done

I didnt realize that but thats insane.  I know there are alot of 3A schools in the south but to have 2 in the same county no in the same sectional, or even regional is crazy.  Especially when both sectionals have such far off teams.

Like it so much I reposted twice.  🤪

Siac has two sets of bylaws.  Central's and then the rest.

Worst part about it are the RBs from last year which are still on the team will get screwed over to let these back in.  Funny how they are here when with a coach with no discipline, he leaves and a tougher coach comes so they also leave now that coach is gone and they are back.  I sure hope for the returns at Central more than anyone that the IHSAA doesnt approve this.  Dont have facts in front of me but I would be willing to bet that over the years no school has had more kids in trouble than Central.  All points back to leadership, or lack therof.

Just don’t see kids over coming coaching flaws enough to win state a couple regionals and 3 sectionals.  Reitz has never been short on talent.  I could be wrong but it just seems like a few years ago they had a really really talented group. Can’t remember all the names but Mahan was QB and had a phenomenal year.  Maybe around 2015 and 2016.

That was a very good team but ran into East Central.  Big bruising running team as they usually are but couldnt pass a lick.  But somehow came up with a hail mary at the end to stop us in the regionals.

Got to wonder how “today” Hape would’ve faired in 2007-2011.  My guess is the knowledgeable Reitz fans think they have that answer.

Obviously no one knows but quite possibly the same results Lewis had.  We were blessed in that stretch with exceptional talent on the field that overcame alot of coaching flaws.  2007-2010 ranks right up there with the best 4 year stretch in Panther history.  The current coach biggest flaw to me is not putting a team away when you have the chance.  Im not saying run up the score on teams but when you are playing a good team dont change the plays and sit on it when you get a 2 TD lead.  Thats happened time after time in recent years.  That directly lead to 2 of our losses last year and nearly cost us against Henderson.

  12. As for the topic of this thread, it will be interesting to see how the schedule is set up.  I hope not like Ft Wayne where you play the same conference team year in and year out.  I know its much easier for the coach and AD not having to come up with games but I really like having a couple non conference games to have something different from year to year.

  13. Sorry but I have to add my opinion on Tony Lewis.  He DID fall into a great team.  Year 1 was a sophomore starting QB with many other sof and juniors with major playing time.  The stretch before Lewis arrived and while he was there was probably the greatest collection of athletes Reitz has had in 50 years.  There has been some better indivudual ones but not so many at the same time as in that time span.  Nearly any Smoe Joe could have came in and coach that team to a very high level. Lewis ran the same 3 plays over and over at both Reitz and Henderson.  We just had the athletes then that could over power and outrun the competition.  If he is so great why couldnt he manage more than 1 win at Richmond?  I do agree there are alot of rediculous Reitz fans with unreal expectations but no more than any other school that has had success.  The stretch from 2004 to 2010 has spoiled alot of us but at the same time many teams would be thrilled to go 6-4.  You leave 4 jobs within that short of a span you cant be pointing fingers at the admninstration saying its them.  Maybe once or twice but after that many times the coach has to look in the mirror.  He will last no more than 2 years at Jasper.  No knock on the kids but just imagine a Lewis spread offense and no run game when to player he has are slower powerful country boys.  The 2 just dont fit.

As far at the heat goes with daylight savings time you could move the start time back to 730 or even 8

That really solves nothing with it only like maybe 3 degree cooler at a later starting time.  Being down here right on the Ohio River alot of times those first 2 games you feel like you are sitting in a sauna.  So miserable in the stands and cant even imagine how it is pads for the kids.  Ive lived in both Indy and Evansville and its amazing in that distance how much hotter and more humid it is down here.

Being a coach I agree with the sentiment above. Coaches preach to players "never give up, fight till the end". Going to a running clock no matter how out of hand the game is makes you feel like a hypocrite. Having been a coach on both sides of a blowout I think it's a respectable way to get games over with and having a rule to enforce it would take it out of the coach's hands. Though I think there would need to be some discussion on how it's implemented.

Ohio's rule is that at any point during the game if a team gets up 30+ they go with a running clock. I saw a game where this hurt a teams chance to come back. Running clock went into effect near the beginning of the 3rd and basically ran off the entire quarter on two consecutive drives. The losing team closed the gap stopping the clock, started to come back and literally ran out of time. Would like to think if that time hadn't ran off would they have had an opportunity to tie or win.

I few years ago when Bobby Cox was pushing this I heard someone suggest no running clock in the first half. Running clock would only begin when leading by 42+ in the 3rd and 35+ in the 4th and would end if the score was brought back within those ranges which I think makes more sense.

I do agree there should be no running clock in the 1st half.  Also feel that it shouldnt be left to the coaches because we have had some games where it continues to be a regular clock when it is way out of hand.  We play Kentucky schools often here and their rule is at a 36 point deficit the clock runs.

Man, that is harsh. Nobody needs to be in the meat grinder every week. That would be just stupid, especially in a state like Indiana, where the regular season means very little. Be nice to arrive at tournament time with at least some healthy players.

Did I not give them credit?  But they used to schedule even tougher, every game.  Noblesville and Jeffersonville are the 2 teams I was referring to.  I never said anything was wrong with that, just point out the fact of the change.

Interesting on Bosse possibly going 3A.  Their overall team speed can cause problems.

Biggest thing for me on Lewis will be if that community will embrace an outside hire. He has been pretty good at most stops.

First year at Henderson was good and went down each year.  I dont know about FL but only had 2 wins last year at Richmond.

This will be quick turn around for this program. I think it is a sleeping giant.

Im not so sure about that.  First I dont think he will stick around long enough and second, his success at Reitz was mainly becaause a once in a generation QB he had.  Well, 2 in a generation because we had the McIntosh brothers back to back.  But Lewis only coached Matt.  When that was gone here the success went down and followe dhim to Henderson.  4th job since he left here in 2012.
