I see talk on here about Ft Wayne fields and now see 3 private schools and the talk of upgrading their fields. The question that I am curious of are how many fields are used in Ft Wayne and are they at public schools or private. Here in Evansville all public schools now have their own field but the 2 private schools do not.

It was the best from this side of the field though. Thats the same year we beat Columbus East 61-60 the prior week. After those 2 weeks winning state seemed odd. Although it was state it had no ways near the excitement. Just now noticed that was Paul McIntosh that helped take him down. For all he did on offense, he didnt usually play alot on D as I remember.

Not sure I would define it as best, maybe craziest. Cathedral trailed Reitz 35-34 in the 2007 semi-state final (blew a 13 point lead with less than 4 minutes to go). Now Indianapolis Colt Jack Doyle catches a Hail Mary but is ruled down inches before the goal line.
Edit: Found a better angle right down the goal line. Doesn't get much closer than that

I'm going with this one (@ 5:19 mark) in 2000 to win the 3A State title in OT for Heritage Hills over Zionsville! (Jay Cutler on the receiving end from Cole Seifrig)
Considering the situation it cant get much bigger than that.

Sounds like Mt Vernon loosed their Coach.
Brunson to Reitz
Moe Sutton to Harrison
Along with Ganaway at Bosse, I think the SIAC Coaching openings are filled.
Loosed?

Find it hard to believe but talk at the basketball game last night was that Rietz has not even started interviewing yet. Need to get someone in both positions soon.
Come on, you are a REITZ person I assume by your name and you mis-spell it. I heard one name mentioned for Reitz but probably was just talk. I dont believe anything I hear until its official.

I see Reitz football is challenging IU basketball for most unreasonable fan bases.
Good thing MD and EM didn’t replace Goebel or Hurley after their first losing season.I agree with the first part. We get spoiled by the success and some expect it every year. Things are on a down turn but we will be back on top like many times before.
As for your second statement, get your facts straight. Andy wasnt fired. From things Ive read it appears he has no desire to go somewhere else to coach in the near future. More towards spending time with family and having a normal life. Anywhere a head coach is, even consitantly losing schools, takes alot out of you and alot of time away from family.

If you’re saying All-time then Reitz has to be up there. Think they have 11 state titles... 9 before the tournament I think...
Correct. Plus 2nd to Cathedral in all-time wins

Memorial 20-14. Kind of getting tired of the talk the last few weeks about no one gave Memorial a chance this year. I for one, said at the start of the year Memorial would be the best in the SIAC yet again. Not saying they couldnt have made it back to Lucas in 3A but 4A was an easier path this year. No real tough teams except East Central, which got knocked out prior to facing Memorial. I was lookin forward to that matchup. D has been good for Memoiral the past 2 years but overshadowed by the offense. Offense is still pretty good but the D is shut down. I would be stunned if East Noble score more than 14.

Pretty bad when you have to travel to a different TIME ZONE for a SECTIONAL contest...
Not really, depends on where you are. About anything north or east we have to do that. Next year with Vincennes and Jasper joining the SIAC we will be going to a different time zone twice every regular season depending on how the schedule falls. And those 2 teams will be doing it several times a year.
As for the distance for a sectional game...I know you are talking this year but a few years ago we had Northview in our sectional and had to go up there. 126 miles.
The alignment this year is insance. If the teams would have won out Princeton and Gibson Southern could have played in the semi-state. Not sure the distance but 10 miles apart at the most. The 3A must have been set up without looking at where the schools are. Ones near the Illinois border going to the Bloomington and Salem area in 3 different secetioanls instead of keeping east teams in east and west in west.

I would be surprised if that were the case. I expect MD, Central, and Memorial to all advance in very competitive games.
I said possible, not likely. Memorial shouldnt have much trouble this week but if Mater Dei and Central win I would be very surprised if its by more than a touchdown.

Week 11
Jasper 28
Central 21
Memorial 24
Boonville 7
Very possible memorial will be the only SIAC team standing going into sectional finals week.

Too bad it took until week 9 for the coaches to figure out Brickey can throw if you keep him in the pocket instead of this crazy roll out stuff and passing behind the line. Havent seen any numbers but he probably had a fourth of his season total in passing yards in the past 2 games. Keep him in the pocket and he can throw. Few high school QBs can throw accurately on the run while rolling out. I know a loss is a loss but at least it was respectable unlike the regular season game. Now time for basketball. Odd saying being from Reitz but the next couple years could be something very good for us there.

If Central and Memorial were to meet again, I'm pretty sure the game would be at Central, now Enlow.
Should be at Enlow because at that point Central would have had at least 1 home game and Memorial none.

Able to watch Memorial the last two weeks. Well coached club, but they just don’t have the horses this year. Central will win by 14 plus. North RB might be the most explosive player in city. Bosse should take applications for a new offensive line coach. How is Harrison so incompetent? Large student body, athletes, no excuse for what they have become. Considering what they were under Coach Marsh. Just a down year over all in the SIAC. Maybe MD, and Gipson Southern can make a run.
And large student body? At 1250 only Bosse and Central have a smaller enrollment than Harrison in the SIAC, of the public schools.

Gibson, not Gipson. And what does them moaking a run have to do with the SIAC? Just wondering.

Fighting with the other RB on the sideline, yikes. Hasn’t this kid had a history of in game blowups that lead to penalties? Sounds like he has anger management issues that I hope he resolves.
Yes. Actually got kicked out of the regional game 2 years ago.

No offense to Reitz Bowl, but I think The Pit is the coolest venue I’ve seen. Was it standing room only?
Another fine performance by Cathedral. Trinity took Moe to the woodshed last night, so at least Cathedral easily handled the Crusaders as well.
IMO, Cathedral is the team to beat in 5A right now.
Coming from a Reitz person its nice to see the Bowl mentioned on a thread not about them. As awesome as it is I am sure there are some better out there. Just havent seen them personally.

Here is my take. The coaches don’t have a clue as to what they have at QB. He is not a scrambler (although he is mobile enough to get away from pressure), but is a step into pocket passer.
Watch him. When he actually steps into his passes, they are on point. However, most of the time he is throwing on the run and off of his back foot. When he does that his passes sail resulting in the bad turnovers and badly overthrown receivers. (Also, he really needs to quit locking in on one receiver. I know where he is throwing it from across the field, so any defender paying attention would know the same.)
I believe that the offense needs to be constructed more along the lines of what the Colts did when Manning was QB. One back pro sets doing stretch runs and play actions bootlegs, but basically keeping him standing tall in the pocket and throwing the ball down the field.
Totally agree. Especially when they call that roll out to his left. Have seen 1, maybe 2 high schoolers that can make that pass. Just putting him in a bad spot. And throw the damn ball downfield. We have some receivers and some height, USE IT. Stop throwing behind the line and expecting to get the blocks after the catch to gain yards.

Bottom line. Reitz is a bad football team. See them winning maybe two more games this year. Without being able to field a freshman team this year where is the program heading. They are hard to watch this year. Even being that critical I still love the Blue and Grey. Go Panthers
Not meaning to point out any one kid but there needs to be some adjustments at QB. Way, way too many turnovers and looks like it has blown his confidence up. Even to the point of effecting his punting. He was much better the little he played last year. Poor play calling doesnt help. 3rd and long and call a pass play behind the line of scrimmage. Happens many times a game. Not taking 3 at the end of the half with a short field goal with a very good kicker. However it goes down though will still be there rooting them on but looks like a long year.

@Coach Jennings can you give us SIAC fans some info about Clarksville NE football?
I dont know much about them other than they got blown out last week 42-6. Was 8-2 last year but lost 5 games by forfeit because of an ineligible player. Most of their scores last year were very lopsided in their favor.

Central was at full strength with exception of the kid that transfered from THS, he was suspended. Centrals big problem was they have no Oline and they had almost 80 yards in unsportsnan like penalties.
So if your info is true, which Im not disputing, the IHSAA dropped Evans' suspension from being ejected from the last game he played? I know it was 2 years ago but as far as I know, and under everyone elses rules, that still applies. He was ejected in the regional for 2 personal fouls in the loss to East Central in their last game in state. And if you have no line to block it really doesnt matter how good your runners are. Not going to be very successful.

My understanding is 1-2 players were not allowed to participate. So the Bears were not at full strength.
Not sure about 2 but 1 shouldnt have been due to being kicked out of the last IHSAA game he played in. But even missing 2 or 3 or 4 its surprising to get shut down by a less than average THS team. Unless they have made drastic strides from previous years. And the Courier article said they got 4 personal fouls so.... Pretty bad start to the SIAC all around. Only 3 winners.

Any correlation to the arrival of certain ex players?
Most likely so. And they have a much tougher opponent next week. A usally big and hard hitting Owensboro Sr. team.
Fort Wayne Concordia adding turf.

Unless I am wrong they dont pay rent. They used to but that stopped several years ago. They both have as much room to fit stands as they did at Harrison. I agree the field itself is good at North and Harrison. My biggest complaint about Harrison is the way and where they gates are set. With the poor choice on where to put the tennis courts the parking is horrible. Its as close to part across the Llyod and use the overpass but when you do there are no gate near that end.
