Officials are not the only ones who read the Officiating Forum. There are a lot of people on here, some of them coaches, who learn things here they wouldn’t otherwise know.

i am one of those others here that have learned a lot from this forum and am ever grateful as I have become a better informed fan because of it.
A big thank you to all of the officials that contribute to this forum.

That was a good game.  Lapel's offense just seemed to struggle with penalties and D/D.  THree times inside the 20 and no pts.  Tipton had their running game going and there wasn't any answer for the short pass game.  Lapel kicked squibbed their kickoffs a llot too, must not have wanted to kick deep.  That gave Tipton the ball near midfield a lot.  On to somewhere else next week.

Thanks for coming, hope you had a good time.

I was watchin'... too slow on that Lapel 45 yard run with 4 mins left in 3rd and their hurry up offense.... sticks weren't in the ground when they ran next play AND refs clearly placed ball on 22 and sticks were on 23. Come on man !

    Fred was slowing us down.

They really slowed down the offense of powerhouse Eastbrook.  If I come watch this game, can Lapel compete with them or will this be a blowout and I should go elsewhere?

Get your ticket here..... Tipton's allotment is sold out but Lapel shows tickets still available.

Note that it states these are "non Bleacher" seats so you must stand or can bring your own chair.

  4. Situation: Team A has scored a touchdown, while coming on the fieldTeam A's kicker pulls his helmet on, lifts his helmet up off of his head, does something to it then pulls it on and fastens the chin strap. Ball was being placed at this time and had not be signaled as ready to play.  Team B coaching staff argues the kicker should be ineligible to play because he removed his helmet while on the field.

What is the helmet rule for a player coming on to the field while ball is not ready to play?

Sideline penalty on the biggest score of the game for Eastbrook!  That official should never call another game!!!!!

    Did you see the game???

That penalty was for assisting the runner. Two of Eastbrook's coaches were just to my right when it happened and one of them had remarked about a player pulling the ball carrier right before the flag came out.

Those players must not have been to LOS the last few years 😉

Two are old enough to be my boss and the customers that played at Eastbrook have sons that have or now do play for Adamson.
As one of the bosses said.. "I had more opportunities to catch passes on defense than I ever did on offense"

i find it hilarious when people say ...  they dont throw enough to keep good teams off balance... If you run the ball well enough,  guess what,  you dont need to throw. Why would I want to throw the ball if I can average 4-5 yards per carry. Im sure Eastbrook probably does that easily., just looked it up, 6.3 yards per carry on the year.

When it's former players for the coach saying that? You find that hilarious?

Funny how the Debbie Downers say this year in and year out yet the Panthers find a way to win. Granted they've had their share of "hit in the mouth" moments but, then again, EVERY team has that at some point. Last year's game against Tipton came down to conditioning. IMO, that's what won the game. The CIC is weak.... everybody can agree on that. However, Coach Adamson makes these kids believe they can win and they treat every game like it's a state championship..... regardless of how good or bad the opponent.

I work out of Gas City and two of my bosses and a fair number of customers (most are named Roush) played at Eastbrook. They all have said the same thing repeatedly over the years... Adamson doesn't throw enough to keep good teams off balance and win big games. With Jett Engle in the fold that seems to have changed.
Looking forward to Friday night, will be my first time chain ganging on an Eastbrook sideline. Ought to be a dandy of a game.

Folks walk to the football game at North Newton, Ball.  Havent been there for many years but I've been there and they do./

. I've never been to a school where, kids didnt walk to the game. Neutral site games take that away.

When I was in high school in Illinois, we didnt have a home field and I walked to all our 'home' games. But the field was only 14-15 blocks away.

I dont understand the reason to try neutral site games in Indiana but you do so you may be missing my larger point.

When I was young, I thought I knew everything so I'd go downstate (for my newspaper) with teams and I'd give them a piece of my mind. I'd ask someone from the IHSAA about seeding. Or Saturday football. Or a 10-game regular season. Or the all-inclusive state tourney. Or the horrible overtime format.  Or neutral site games. I would tell them what I think.

Then the very pleasant HSAA fellow would look at me, ask me where I was from and smile politely. And then he would sound like 'The Rock' on the old wrestling shows when he would say very kindly,   "It doesn't matter what you think!!!!"

The answer was: We want games played on home sites. We want that home sellout. That atmosphere.

Then the nice IHSAA fellow would remind me that I got in for free and that if I ever wanted to ever get in for free again, that I should sit down and shut up.

Where do they walk from to get to North Newton High School? it's 5 miles to Enos, doesn't appear to be any homes there, to the south southwest and about 4 miles up to the Prairie Chicken Refuge. There are two homes across the road from the school.

Yes, HCHD has been a pain all year.  Most we've had is around 600 total so far for a home game.  Then we play road games and the stands are full(ish).  Our athletic department is taking a beating from lack of gate revenue.

Thank You, I thought that was the issue and not just a Heights thing.

I believe Coach Nowlin is referring to the incident in 2005 when Heights beat Tipton in the last couple minutes of a sectional game and a certain mother of a player came onto the field after and planted something on it. To be honest, I can't remember what it was that she planted. I've always thought that time period was when the rivalry was at its peak.

It was a tombstone. There's video of it somewhere.
I considered that era of the rivalry as an embarrassing low point. It got too nasty.
