I can only assume he took the risk (if one assumes its a risk) because they had done their homework. I trust that he believes in his Oline coach to assess potential. I don't know his history...could he have had injuries, etc that limited his ability to have been seen at camps, etc.? I don't know. I am just not ready to say Allen and his staff made a mistake. We will have to see if the young man becomes a steady contributor in the years ahead. Allen knows how to recruit...I can only surmise that they felt offering the young man would make their team better.
Would I prefer 3, 4 and 5 stars? Sure. But that doesn't mean that there can be other excellent players that simply needed a chance to shine.
BTW, it isn't like 3, 4 and 5 stars are risk free.....on and off the field.
There's an analyst that's already said VF will move up. I have no idea why someone would debate "stars".
Micah McFadden was a 2 star and he's an absolute stud.

Indiana was recruiting against Ball State, Eastern Michigan and Columbia College for this player. That sounds like the "old" IU.
Louisville literally offered last week. Actually a day before IU did.

Hello Mcfly! Anyone home? I referenced the Top 5 programs on ND's schedule over the last 8 years.
Clearly you're not even smart enough to have a debate with.
Taken out of context............run along little boy.
Most people, including Bleacher Report and Sporting News go back 5-10 years when rating a program. You go back one year. You're silly.
They've been saying USC is a sleeping giant for the past few years. But I agree, with the right coach, they could be dominant again.
This is all you could come up with? When you have to resort to attacks.. you probably need take a step back.
ND isnt overly relevant. I'm not sure what to tell you? The south doesnt fear ND at all, OSU yes, ND no.

Since 2012
2019 Georgia 23, ND 17 at Georgia
2018 ND 21, LSU 17 Neutral
2017 Georgia 20, ND 19 at ND
2015 Clemson 24, ND 22 at Clemson
2014 ND 31, LSU 28 Neutral
2013 Oklahoma 35, ND 21 at ND
2012 ND 30, Oklahoma 13 at Oklahoma
Yeah, yeah. Clemson waxed ND in 2018 like they did everyone else. Alabama waxed ND in 2012. Looking at the seven games above and you can honestly say that Notre Dame "isn't a player, not even a threat?" I hope Clemson feels that way when they come to South Bend, the Irish should win by 21...............but they won't, because Dabo Swinney isn't stupid.
Conversation over pal, you obviously have a bias against the Irish.
You cherry picked 7 games 😂😂😂
You get zero points for coming close lol... ND is so irrelevant you're referencing LOSSES. Oklahoma beat you by 14 at home and you're referencing that? C'mon man.
ND "should" beat Clemson by 21? What world have you lived in the last 30 years? Michigan WAXED ND last year and Michigan was the 5th best team in the B1G.
58 minutes ago, WolvesOnTheProwl said:Ummm notre dame has beaten LSU last two times they’ve played.... but as a notre dame fan I understand what you’re saying. They need to win a big game. Period. Until then, people can and have the right to say whatever or just say Michigan (I still don’t know what happened there). As far as the conference exclusion, I kind of like it so they can keep playing whomever they choose and still keep the National brand of playing rivals and across the country and on NBC. But I’ve been waiting since Lou holtz was on the sideline for them to win a big one.
Fair. Obviously those LSU teams your beat recently havent been anywhere close to their better teams though.

By name only due to a weak schedule and not having to play in a conference title game. They did not belong on the same field in their 2013 game against Bama or their 2018 game against Clemson.
100%. Look at NDs record in "big games" the past like 15 years, its staggeringly terrible.
LSU, Bama, UGA, OSU, Clemson, and Oklahoma
At this point in time that's the only teams who matter. No ND is not a player right now, they aren't a threat, even as much as their fanbase wants to believe they are.
And honestly.. what's with the not being in a conference?
3 minutes ago, BTF said:Fair enough, I can't argue with that. Notre Dame needs a signature win and they'll get it this fall when Clemson comes to South Bend..................keep the receipt on that one. I'll happily eat crow if I'm wrong. I don't even think Notre Dame will win against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field. The Badgers will be jacked up. Clemson will face the same fate in South Bend when the Irish will be jacked up.
Agree with Oklahoma. The playoff should consist of Clemson, the SEC, and the Big Ten.........................period. Big 12 and Pac 12 can forget it unless something changes.
How does a ND fan even act arrogant in big games anymore? I dont understand.

24/7 Sports has 31 five star players. Nineteen of them are going to Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Ohio State. That's hard to compete with.

Not to sure what is going on in this state when it comes to recruiting! I have heard from most of the in state d1 colleges and they do not go to games anymore. They just watch highlights. D1 schools in this state are missing on alot of in state talent.
Indiana is at games all the time during bye weeks. You do realize how hard it is for schools to be at HS games on Fridays, right?

Well, I'm just saying no difference. I hope he does go to IU, ND can get other players when and where needed, I like IU getting these high end in state kids.
I realize there is no difference between Valpo and SB weather wise.

Don't you think they've already eliminated ND as a possibility given his Dads affiliation with the school?
Gf is a ND fan, bought tickets to VT/ND for her. She is an AT and had to work the state championship soccer game, I had to go to that God forsaken place with my best friend. Wore my IU sweatshirt, cold as balls, rooted for VT the whole time.
That experience wasn't half of what it's like to go to a Tennessee game. (Been there three times)
I'd eliminate ND for how effing cold it is up there. Jesus, y'all live in the Artic circle up there.

Lol that’s what people think but Wisconsin historically doesn’t land top recruits at QB. Over the last 10 years or so...if a QB starts all games for them (so 12-14) they finish usually with 2400-2800 yards on about 320 ish attempts...which is about 22 attempts per game on 14 games played.
Graham Mertz though...he was a top 5 QB recruit. The reason hornibrook transferred to FSU was because he thought Mertz would come in as a fresh and play. But it was Coan.
I would expect to be surprised this upcoming season in just how pass happy wisconsin becomes. Ground game will still be great but watch what happens when there is a high level recruit behind one of the best OLs year in and year out.
Over the last two years.. Indiana has thrown it 14 more times per game than Wisconsin has and has completed about 2.5% more passes than UW.

With our current health situation and past history of infections supposedly cause by turf, what do schools need to do to get their turf in shape for next season (I would assume there is someone here who is an expert on turf management).
We haven't had any infections. Bacteria is different than a virus.

I could be mistaken, but didn’t Seymour get turf installed on their football field the year before Brownstown did?
If my county rival improved their facility, I would want to do the same. That’s all I meant. Nothing negative implied. But as you said being such a pro-sports community, maybe the plan was already in place for BC’s upgrades before that.
2 years I think. I don't think Seymour having it was ever brought up. They have awesome facilities. A couple of our renovations were replacing facilities that were built in the 60s, some of them were simply things that had to be done.

In your opinion, was the awful condition of the 2016 regional field the reason BC got turf?
Or was it more keeping up with Seymour?Regional certainly played a part. Keeping up with Seymour? I don't understand?
I would say the majority of the reason we got the turf
-Getting an 8 lane track at the same time/saved cost there
-We have a pretty pro-sports community/They saw the community understood the overall impact our football program has had on other sports
-We understood the benefits for the community/overall sports program of getting the turf
We also upgraded tennis courts, new baseball locker rooms/coaches offices, new baseball concrete bleachers/backstop, AC in both gyms, new bleachers in the gym, renovations to the gym to make it wheelchair accessible, new football stadium/pressbox. They are also currently replacing the gym floor.
Bleachers have been replaced since this picture with concrete ones that are built into that bank behind the backstop and they turfed the batters box.

Mud and muck should be part of the Indiana H.S. football experience. Random elements such as field conditions give the game character, and force coaches and players to adapt to the elements. With every single football field in Indiana going to artificial turf, part of your agenda IIRC, that random element is removed. And the game overall suffers.
Your snarky attitude gets really annoying(bolded). Stop quoting me. I do not care for your opinion (see the underlined).
Telling me that I have an agenda is quite honestly absurd. Again.. stop quoting me.

I remember picking mud out of my teeth... and I remember washing mud out of my eyelids the regional game in 2008 vs. Southridge.
Willing to bet that's as muddy and mushy of a field that's ever been played on. I've heard that game was the reason they got turf. Absolutely insane.

So you don't care how your taxpayer dollars are spent? Are you currently employed, if your are employed, in the private or public sector?

No this is likely a recruiting service not doing its job, correctly.
You cannot honestly believe recruiting, especially with rankings, are all that good at all.
Feeney was ranked 980th in his class.
