Week 4 Picks! Central at VL Central hasn't been looking too hot this season and VL has been looking pretty good early on. Central may will have a better passing game against VL, but I'm going to take the Alices in a running clock Harrison at Castle Harrison finally put points on the board last week against North, while Castle battled it with a good Bosse squad. Harrison may put up a TD, but I think Castle will likely win pretty big in this one Bosse at Jasper Bosse's high-powered offense is something to look out for, as they can put points quickly. I'll be expecting some onside kicks from the Bulldogs tomorrow night. Jasper is likely going to control the time with their offense and run the clock down to keep Bosse off the field. Bosse is a legit team for what happened with Castle last week, but Jasper has a slightly better defense. Bosse will put up points, but I'm going to Jasper in a close game, won't be surprised if Bosse wins it. Mater Dei at Memorial Everyone loves the Catholic Bowl, Mater Dei has started the season off pretty slow and still figuring out a few things offensively and defensively. Memorial has a lot of great players on both sides of the ball working hard. I'm not really expecting any type of blowout in this game, as in the last 20 years or so this game is usually around with 14 points or in single digits. I think Memorial wins this one by 2 scores, but Mater Dei lingers around in this one. North at Reitz North definitely has a team that can win games with their OL and offense. But being shut out against Memorial in Week 2 does raise questions for the Huskies. Reitz has a very good defense that can choke teams out, while the offense has seen a decrease (has been missing a couple of players), they still get the job done for the Panthers. Panthers have already taken care of their first 2 tests, can they carry on? Give me Reitz by 17 in this matchup

TF20's Power Rankings 1. Reitz (3-0)- Coach Brunson has a scary defensive team, still #1 until dethrones them. Big test in the trenches this week against North 2. Memorial (3-0)- Memorial's D has been stout the first 3 weeks of the season and the offense is improving 3. Castle (2-1)- High-powered offense for the Knights, as they have a good amount of skilled players, but still a lot of time left to figure out the defense 4. North (2-1)- Big matchup this week with Reitz, which should determine their position in the SIAC with a win 4. VL (2-1)- Still think VL will have a good season, especially with Hunt behind center 6. Jasper (1-2)- Seems like the defense is still beginning the figure out a few things, offense took a slight setback 7. Bosse (1-2)- Beat Jasper this week, and I think the Bulldogs will see a rise in the rankings with the #1 offense in the SIAC 8. Mater Dei (1-2)- Very young team for MD, but shot themselves in the foot last week. Big statement coming up this Friday against Memorial 9. Central (0-3)- Going to be a long season again for the Bears.. 10. Harrison (0-3)- Finally scored some points, but in the same boat as Central Castle/North/VL is still pretty tough on where to place them

About to say, there’s been a few 25+ points or more outliers, but it’s mainly within a 2 score game at the end

One of the major reasons is that it seems like there has many HC coaching changes the last several years, transfers leaving (not many this year), Youth Program in a rebuild, newer players not buying in and some other inconsistencies (some stuff I have heard over the years). After Any Own retired after the 2017 season, they had a lot of success when Burgess lead them to a 4A State game in 2018. Definitely one of the better teams in 4A, since their OL/DL was college sized and their playmakers were very good. 2019 and 2020 seasons were really good when Coultis was there. And it appeared that Central had their long-term guy, but resigned a few weeks prior to summer practices for personal reasons. After that, it has been an immediate downhill for the Bears and looking like a long-term rebuild. It’s pretty strange how quick they dropped down, since they were consistent in the 2010’s. Central may eventually get back to their dominant role, but who knows when that will happen. I’m sure someone will provide a long term explanation, but that is the whole gist of it.

What we learned after Week 3 Harrison at North (52-12 North) North had a nice bounce back to beat the Warriors. I’m assuming North tan all over them the entire night. Looked like Harrison score and made it a 10 point game early on. But it was all Huskies tonight. North will travel to a big matchup against Reitz. Harrison will head to Castle. Memorial at Central (56-0 Memorial) The Tigers dominated the entire game and score 35 points after 1.25 quarters of football. Each areas played very well on Friday. I thought Central’s QB had a nice arm when he completed, and glad to see Graham playing again. Memorial will stay at Enlow (for the next 3 games) against Catholic Rival Mater Dei. Central will head up HWY 41 to face VL. Castle at Bosse (52-42 Castle) Wasn’t this a game, as it went back and forth in the final minutes. Both teams had around 500+ or more total offensive yards. Bosse’s Wagner had around 500 total yards by himself against Castle. Bosse will head to Jasper and Castle will be at home against Harrison. VL at Mater Dei (28-20 VL) Look like VL was going to pull away from the game early on, but MD rework themselves and have VL a game. However, MD had a few mistakes that would cost them. Looks like Hunt had another good night on the stat sheet rushing for 125 yards and throwing for nearly 100 yards. VL gets Harrison at home, MD heads to Enlow to face their Catholic Rival Memorial. Reitz at Jasper (23-7 Reitz) Similar to the VL/MD game, seemed like Reitz was looking get away early on after the 1Q. But Jasper’s D sounded like it was solid for the rest of the game, however, Reitz D was stout and again and held Jasper to 7 points. Reitz is looking like they could have an undefeated regular season again. Jasper. Stays at home against Bosse, Reitz is back at the Bowl against North in a huge matchup.
