According to current schedules with Madison and making it easiest on all Athletic directors in the MSC, logic dictates Salem drops Valley. That would leave week 7 and 9 for non conference. Assuming again, what makes it easy for ADs, Salem would keep Eastern and WW. I find it hard to believe that WW would be eager to drop Salem and vice versa but maybe Eastern is looking to drop Salem week 7. If so, that could pose logistical issues for Salem and maybe Eastern. Currently Valley plays Tecumseh week 7 so that could be an option for them to drop Tecumseh and play Salem week 7 and they play North Daviess week 9 so another Non Conference they could potentially play Salem should WW end up off the Salem schedule. This is mostly speculation, but with some logic built in with current schedules and knowing a few ADs, I’d say they would like to make transitioning in Madison as easy as possible.

I have thought about this a lot recently. How is it that Corydon played close games and had chances vs both Charlestown and Scottsburg also with the win over NH but get smacked by Salem and Madison? It’s the offensive play style of their opponents. Those 3 close games vs NH, Scottsburg, and Charlestown you don’t see as much “get to the edge and sprint to the sideline” vs Corydon’s defense. Salem and Madison lived outside overloading and tossing outnumbering and sprinting. Sure Nh overloads but they are still a between the tackles run team. Charlestown has a ton of speed, but they tried to be more balanced throwing it and running a variety of things. Same with Scottsburg. So based on play style I’m not hopeless with Corydon’s draw. Week 1 will be a tough rematch in Ramsey. Then we will see from there.

Week 9 Games Crawford County @ Clarksville The way Crawford lost to WW makes me hesitant to pick them. I haven’t seen them at all this year but I did see Clarksville both live and on tape. Young Hawkins can be the difference maker, but I think I’m gonna side with Crawford having a slight edge. Mitchell @ Perry Central I have no clue how to choose this other than Perry is the home team. Very similar offense and defensive numbers. I think it will be a multi score game from both teams and I’ll just take the home team. North Knox @ Paoli Paoli had a couple losses early in the season to good teams but since has benefitted from an easy schedule. I think they are far and away the second best team in the PLAC but they are not last years Paoli squad. North Knox has 5 losses to solid teams and a couple nice wins too. Every thing analytically tells me to pick NK, but I’m not going to pick against Dittmer this week. I like Paoli to squeak one out here at Cook Field. Salem @ WW When I looked at Salems schedule to start the season, I figured they would beat Eastern and that’s all. So they have made a believer out of me. I don’t think it will be an easy win against county rival on the road but I think Salem has won my pick this week. Springs Valley @ North Daviess Someone has to take a loss this week. Neither have an overly difficult schedule. I like ND win over Washington and the fact they are home this week. Brownstown @ Scottsburg I know BTownQBCoach won’t like my jinx here. But he is a logical guy. The closest this game will be is at kickoff. Brownstown is so much better than Scottsburg. Scottsburg needs this win for a share of the MSC trophy, instead Brownstown will gift them with a running clock. This Braves squad is better than last year and the Warriors, record aside, aren’t playing better than last year. They haven’t beaten a team with a winning record, played close with mediocre teams, and got beat by the only team with a winning record… which got blown out by the Braves earlier this season. Charlestown @ Eastern Charlestown will have a chance to get their JV in this one late in the game. I respect coach Williams and what he is trying to build at Eastern, but we all know this isn’t their year and Charlestown has some absolute athletes that Eastern won’t be able to contain. Corydon at Silver Creek I’ll start with this. I am not going to pick against Corydon. But logically, if Pap watched the Salem and Madison film, and I’m sure he did, he knows what he needs to do to win this game. Corydon has some very obvious weaknesses on the defensive side of the ball and offensively, with the their QB1 going down, they have some things to iron out. Silver Creek built some confidence with wins over NA and NH, then Brownstown reminded them who was king of the MSC. Does that motivate the Dragons on Senior night or will it have a lasting negative effect. Corydon wins in a tight one. Kick the FG. North Harrison @ Providence Early in the year this was a really easy obvious choice. A couple losses in and I wonder if this won’t be a better game than anticipated. I think the Pioneers win either way. Bonus Game: Northview @ Linton Another solid Bonus Game selection. I know nothing about Northview. I see they are 4A and have a history of winning seasons. So does Linton and I am not going to pick the Olivers here. I’ll save that for a regional matchup with Brownstown. I imagine it will be a really nice Friday Night Lights matchup and I think both teams offense will be on display, but give me the Duel Headed Dawg of Paul Oliver and Russ Goodman. (Although the Bath kid at NV looks like he is a dude, 1700 yards of offense)

I think Madison studied Salems game film vs Corydon. They took to the edges with numbers and was very effective. I heard Madisons radio guys say "Madison has already eclipsed its season best point total and it's only the first half." That hit me and I was like holy smokes, he is right. They definitely came in with a solid game plan and executed and all props to them for that win.

Womp Womp... Congrats Madison, those kids at the end of that game after the handshake line were PUMPED! Great game plan tonight, Cubs. Shoutout to Salem as well. 3 and seems like 4 should be expected. A much better Salem team than I thought would be fielded in 2025. I also heard from an assistant coach that they expect several of the kids who went to WW to come back. I won't go into reasons but, seems like that is plausible for next season. Brownstown, NH, Scottsburg, Springs Valley, Paoli, WW... as expected.

I fully expect them to win 2a. I think last year they would have made it to LOS but Linton gritted it out late in that game. I do know this. Whomever represents the South in 2a will have had to play a tough Regional and Semi State game. But I also know Adams Central will be a TOUGH TOUGH out for anyone playing them. (Bluffton and them this week should be interesting.)

In conference play you get what you get. Ask Brownstown about that (PF 252 PA 46 and outside of a couple few of those scores, they were not against BC varsity). for non conference, they need to go find some better teams. Easier said than done. I get that. I know Providence had a bye this year. as for my thoughts on it possibly being weaker, it won’t benefit them come playoffs. But hey, when those kids are in their mid thirties telling their kids about how good they were, they will say we were 9, 10, 11-1 and will be able to relish in win after win. Since most of them will never play after high school, which is the case for most all HS football players, maybe playing an easier schedule isn’t a terrible thing. I just know it won’t benefit them for a deep post season run.

Crawford County @ West Washington WW defense will be too much for Crawford to overcome. Paoli @ Mitchell Perry Central @ Springs Valley Springs Valley continues with an easy schedule on route to a win and will remain undefeated. The schedule will do them no favors in sectional where I suspect Providence (in a down year) will take 48, but it sure does look cool to be undefeated going into the playoffs anyways. I had to go double check by according to Harrells site SV hasn’t won a sectional dating back to atleast 1993, have they ever won one? Clarksville @ North Harrison Clarksville won’t be able to stop NH. Unless NH has some injuries and stuff I don’t know about. Shouldnt be much of a contest. Madison @ Corydon Junior 3 year starting QB Bobby Sharp lost for the season due to injury. Corydon wins easily on Senior Night with backup Sr QB Dane Naiman leading the way. Naiman is a Swiss Army knife and is more than a capable QB who is a true duel threat with some incredible athletes to throw to behind a BIG line. Salem @ Charlestown Id like to say that following Salem’s thumping of Corydon 2 weeks ago, that Salem can pull this one off. But I don’t think they will. Prove me wrong Lions. Scottsburg @ Eastern Pekin Scottsburg will look like an offensive juggernaut this week, but which continues to happen vs the bad teams. They will need a little momentum and confidence this week because next week they are gonna get drummed by the Braves on Senior Night. Silver Creek @ Brownstown The only question here will be how many points will the Braves score on Elm street Friday night? This is far and away the best offense Reed May has ever produced and I’d argue the best defense too. Coaches aren’t supposed to look past this week, but I can. The 2025 MSC Champs will roll through sectional with exaggerated ease, then get the much anticipated rematch with the Miners of Linton. Paul Oliver and Russel Goodman are the duel headed beast for the Miners and if Brownstown can slow them down they could be looking at a stout defense in Lapel where if they are up the challenge, they will be heading to Lucas Oil to take on the defending 2a state champ, Adams Central. Bonus Game of the Week Lawrence North @ Center Grove I dont know anything about these teams other than they are both dang good. Center Grove is home so I’d lean towards them. But I suspect it to be a great Friday night football game.

I went and did a fill in and to get Salem, Silver Creek and North (only MSC teams not already playing Madison) this is what will need to happen. So, Silver Creek would lose NA, Salem would lose Springs Valley, and North Harrison would lose Providence.
-
For instance, Corydon dropped Providence this season and slid Madison into that slot. Similarly, they dropped Eastern and slid Clarksville into that slot. So, I believe that we can expect Corydon to keep the same schedule, likely the case for Scottsburg, Charlestown, and Brownstown too. But with that said, if there has to be some movement due to it not working with other MSC schedules, it would be interesting to see how the schedules shake out otherwise.

Week 7 Games Mitchell @ North Daviess - running clock implemented in this game. North Daviess with the win. Paoli @ Crawford County - Crawford with its first losing streak of the season. I’m predicting a running clock here too. Tecumseh @ Springs Valley - Springs Valley continues its undefeated season. Although, with one of the easiest schedules in the entire state, it’s not surprising they look like a top 1a team. West Washington @ Perry Central - I know how bad Clarksville is and since PC lost to them, I can’t imagine that WW will lose this one. Brownstown @ Madison - I am assuming Brownstown has a JV and Freshman game to play too, so, the varsity has to play atleast the entire first half right? Charlestown @ Corydon - you gonna try and stop Daniels run game or his pass game? If Corydon wants the win here they will have to outscore Charlestown similar to last year. The best defense for the Panthers this week will be an offense that can keep the ball out of the Pirates hands. Thankfully senior night is next week vs Madison because the Pirates are likely to steal the night Friday in Corydon. Eastern Pekin @ Salem - Salem had just short of 500 yards last week. The only reason they won’t this week is because Eastern will have a running clock the entire second half. Scottsburg @ Clarksville - nice game for Scottsburg to bounce back after a really tough. Silver Creek @ North Harrison - Cougars, start your engines… North Harrison with a big win at home. Bonus Game of the Week: Castle @ Jasper - Great choice for the bonus game! I wanna say Jasper but my gut is saying Castle. Should be a fun one for anyone getting to watch it.

I kept checking back every now and then. Glad they got it running again.

The owner of the Culver’s in Corydon who also built the one in Jeffersonville but sold that lives in Floyd Central Schools bounds, his kids went there. So no, but as close as they can get otherwise 🤣 -
