TBD vs. Traders Point Christian* (this makes the LCC vs. Clinton Central semifinal game for the sectional title, with the winner getting a bye to the regional championship)

    * - had to pull out due to COVID-19
** - had initially pulled out due to COVID-19 but was able to play the game after all
*** - had to forfeit due to not having enough players

Cloverdale*** ----  has forfeited to Parke Heritage

  3. Western Boone vs North Putnam (3rd year in a row) -- Western Boone

    Seeger vs Cascade -- Seeger

This sectional has produced 25% of the State Finalists in the last 10 years - WeBo (2-time defending Champs); Monrovia (State Champ & Runner-up); North Putnam (Runner-up).  I am saying that this could happen again this year as WeBo has the experience and is gaining the confidence to get back to Lucas Oil to defend their streak. (Sorry Herb/Seeger or Cascade).

Being one of the very largest 2A schools, having D1 athletes, and a coach like Barrett.....and it’s a success to win the WRC in its weakest year in the last 15 years, by a single touchdown.

Hopefully Barrett is pushing for more, your kids and community deserve it, and so does his legacy. Ask woody Hayes, Brian Moore, or Herb King if winning a conference title Is a success if you don’t win a sectional.

    good grief.

does Sv stand a chance in the sectional? Who are they in with?

South Vermillion's toughest opponent in their 2A sectional will likely be Western Boone....I don't see any other team stopping them this year but the Stars.

This may be specific to 4A and below but after closely watching area programs over the past 10 years it seems to me that what you are in middle school is what you'll be in HS.  Success breeds success.  If you're winning in middle school kids want to be a part of that ... so they stick with it and... those who aren't playing start to play.  Area kids who aren't winning want to be a part of that so when 9th grade rolls around ... and if they have a choice... they migrate.  I've seen coaching changes hurt a program.  But i can't think of situation where a coaching change has turned a bottom dweller into a solid program in less than 3 years (enough time to turn 8th graders into Juniors).  If i'm wrong please site an example.  If not, it would seem...

    1. Coaches should be looking primarily at the MS level when they take over a program.

    2. if your program is solid you better be investing heavily in youth and MS or you won't be solid for long.

    3. Winning is important in MS.  I'm not saying it is the same as HS, but, you still have to play to win the game.

To me there are 2 good examples in South Vermillion (2A) who turned it around in 3 years and also at Mount Vernon (Fortville) (4A) who has only needed 2-3 to become the top dog.

South Vermillion left the WIC a few years ago. They weren't very competitive in football in the WIC. Not sure about the other sports. I know they competed pretty well in boys basketball and baseball. I assume they left the WIC to join the WRC because of the compeititon. They should easily dominate the WRC. They are the biggest school by a lot.

SV should think about rejoining the WIC now that it has a BIg School/Small School split.....I think it is going to be a good thing...it is still a good mix of 3 different levels of schools who have all been competitive in differing sports (not just football)

I can see your point. But honestly believe those coaches above put a lot of time and heart in the kids while they are there. Like most people in any job you do your best to make moves that better your life and career. If they can have success and move on that’s is what most of us do. Doesn’t mean we don’t have respect or love for our former players or co workers. We just make smart business moves.
Also I wouldn’t just look at the coaches, look at the schools and school boards that are chasing those coaches. If an awesome offer comes up you have to take a look at it and see if it’s a good fit for you and your family.

Just hearsay after last year but heard Crabtree was willing to look else where, but his wife and kids wanted to stay. If that’s the case. Good for him putting the wants and needs of his family first.
Did King leave on his own or was he being pushed out? Same thing with Barrett? Did he chose Sv to be closer to family. I’m not sure just asking the question.

I’m know nothing about Twin Lakes, but I think Seeger was expecting a tough game. Not sure if  it was planned to be that lopsided

Barrett left NP to be closer to family....the family had just lost their son to cancer the previous year...

    My predictions:

Brown County at Cloverdale ©, 7 pm- BC wins by 28

Greencastle at West Vigo ©, 7 pm GC wins by 10

Indian Creek at Owen Valley ©, 7 pm IC wins by  28

Washington at Edgewood, 7 pm EDG wins by 21

North Putnam at South Putnam ©, 7 pm SP wins by 21

Sullivan at Northview ©, 7 pm NV wins by 6

South Putnam looks to be the front runner for WIC small school and contender for Sec, Reg, and SS.

Big school WIC is up for grabs. My prediction is winner of Sullivan and Northview will win it but IC could sneak in there too.

    BC wins by 35

WV pulls off an upset here - Vikings by 8

    IC wins by 40

    EDG wins by 12

NP gains a little more confidence but will fall to SP by 14

    NV by 12

Indian Creek will pull away from the pack to win the Big School WIC championship

SP is the early favorite on the WIC Small School - especially if they keep their O rolling

Paoli is looking for a varsity football game for this coming Friday.  We are supposed to be at home this Friday August 28th.  We are wanting to find a game if possible.  We would really like to play Friday night but would consider a Saturday game.  If you are interested please contact Paoli Athletic Director Darek Newkirk at newkirk@paoli.k12.in.us or 812-528-4253.

It's a long way, but Seeger needs an opponent for Friday last I heard

    1 Andrean

    2 WeBo

    3 Eastbrook

    4 Mater Dei

    5 Rensselaer

    6 Luers

    7 Boone Grove

    8 Scecina

    9 Pioneer

    10 Linton

I would agree with these except WeBo would move down to #7 with Scecina jumping into the #6 spot and Pioneer the #8 while dropping Boone Grove to #9.....(the south won't rise again this year either...at least in the playoffs if they happen)

You're being modest and I appreciate that!  One thing we learned about WeBo last year is that you guys come out and dominate the beginning of the game....it's hard for a team to recover from being down 4-5 TD's at halftime!  I think your stat of 38 pts per game paints a picture of the WeBo varsity offense being explosive and the varsit D stuffing people....while the 12 points per game means the JV offense is learning and getting experience while the JV defense closes the game out....  I listened to what Coach Pelley said after last week's victory and he eluded to this.

Guess I was prophetic in my post huh?

Western Boone is an EXCELLENT defensive team...it sets up their offense perfectly!

I wouldn't say "they are nothing like they were last year..."   Still have some pretty good players... The D isn't giving up many points... Running Game is probably better this year... Haven't had to throw the ball as much doesn't mean they can't.....
