from_the_sidelines007 Posted October 26, 2025 Posted October 26, 2025 Greetings GID! Interpretation Question... Team A has ball and play clock (South end zone) facing 'A' quarterback is running down ... At 3 seconds left on play clock back judge tosses flag and blows whistle. Problem was, clock on the opposite end of field (north end zone) that Back Judge was facing had run down to 00 on play clock. Ultimately Both play clocks reading two different amounts of time. 'A' was penalized 5 yards. Is this a delay penalty? Is this a replay? Seems like this is a correctible error due to a clock malfunction. Appreciate the feedback. Officials ultimately decided to turn play clocks off for remainder of game. As always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 Quote

The delay flag was warranted, but it was definitely a bad look, as the one play clock was “sticking” for 3-4 seconds after it should have started. We agreed afterward that picking up that flag might have been a better choice. Quote
from_the_sidelines007 Posted October 26, 2025 Author Posted October 26, 2025 Thanks for the response. Picking up the flag is the right call in this rule interpretation. Quarterback had one piece of information and back judge had a different piece of information. As always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 Quote
