CoachK5 Posted Monday at 08:13 PM Posted Monday at 08:13 PM Anyone going to challenge Penn for the conference title? Week 1 South Bend Adams @ Culver Academy Hammond Bishop Noll @ SB Riley (Jackson Field) South Bend St. Joseph @ Lakeland Hammond Central @ SB Washington (School Field) Mishawaka @ Mishawaka Marian Valparaiso @ Penn LaPorte @ New Prairie Elkhart @ Concord Quote
Coach Lou Posted Tuesday at 12:07 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:07 PM Hearing big things out of Concord camp and some transfers that are helping. That will be a big game with Elkhart and the opening of their new stadiumn. Quote
BLACKGOLD2007 Posted yesterday at 03:36 PM Posted yesterday at 03:36 PM South Bend Adams @ Culver Academy - Culver Academy will be better coached than Adams. Hammond Bishop Noll @ SB Riley (Jackson Field) - Riley is the best team from he South Bend Public Schools by a wide margin, Bishop Noll is not good. South Bend St. Joseph @ Lakeland - St. Joe starts strong in a year they are expected to do well. Hammond Central @ SB Washington (School Field) - Wash game, going with the home team. Mishawaka @ Mishawaka Marian - Mishawaka too big, too much for Marian Valparaiso @ Penn - Penn's O works out some kinks but the D will be firing on all cylinders...28-0 LaPorte @ New Prairie - NP bounce back year....hopefully Elkhart @ Concord - Concord is probably the second or third best team in our area. I expect them to win this game. I don't trust or believe in Elkhart. Quote

npcougar15 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Well NP is improved from last season but are probably still a season away from making noise in the post-season and getting back to where we typically are. I'd say 98% of the ball touches were sophomores and juniors and only 3-4 seniors impacting the game in non-skilled positions. Truth is, last year was going to be a down year regardless of coach so it's nice to see improvement. Defense, more specifically tackling and DB coverage is going to be a challenge this season. As far as the game goes it was a lot closer than the 34-21 final score indicates. it was back and forth all night and at one point 21-21 with 5:00 minutes left in the game with LaPorte facing a 4th&7 at the 50 yard line. They went for it and converted and that was the ball game, if they don't get that first down Cougars likely win the game as the offense was moving the ball all game long. For the second season in a row Reed Raymond from LaPorte basically won the game; that kid is a stud. Season outlook I'd have the cougars hovering around that 5-5 mark and being competitive in most every game outside of Penn & Elkhart. If the stars align we enter sectionals 6-3 and if the ball bounces away from us every chance it gets we limp in at 3-6. Laporte - Loss Northwood - Win (Getting shellacked by Columbia City turned this into a "W") St. Joe - coin flip Adams - Win Elkhart - Loss Riley - Win - competitive game Marian - Win Penn - Loss Washington - Win Quote
