  1. Jeffersonville earned the #4 spot with their 20-14 win at Seymour. The toughest part was choosing which team was #5. I put Seymour at #5 because they got down to the 7 yard line before falling just short on the last play against Jeffersonville. I know Lutheran has been an excellent team in 1A and 2A over the last decade, but a school the size of New Albany shouldn't lose to a school the size of Lutheran by 42 points. It feels like football is just something to do to pass the time at New Albany until basketball season starts.
  2. 1. Floyd Central 2. Bedford North Lawrence 3. Columbus East 4. Jeffersonville 5. Seymour 6. New Albany Floyd Central is easily the best team in the Hoosier Hills Conference and will blow out every team in conference play this season.
  3. BIG prove it game for North Side on Friday vs. Northrop. Probably the best game in the Fort Wayne area on Friday.
  4. For what it's worth I fully expect Carroll to crush Homestead twice this season. Once in the regular season and once in the tournament.
  5. 1. Brownsburg 2. Westfield 3. Warren Central 4. Carmel 5. Center Grove 6. Carroll 7. Lawrence North 8. Chatard 9. Penn 10. Crown Point 11. Avon 12. Ben Davis 13. East Central 14. New Palestine 15. Bloomington South 16. Zionsville 17. Merrillville 18. Cathedral 19. Fort Wayne Dwenger 20. Roncalli 21. Lawrence Central 22. Hamilton SE 23. Franklin Central 24. Decatur Central 25. Floyd Central
  6. I saw that Blitz on outsidethehuddle.net doesn't even have Homestead in the top 10 of his Area Power Poll. That is an egregious of a mistake as I've seen in any poll put out so far this season.
  7. 1. Carroll 2. Dwenger 3. Homestead 4. East Noble 5. Snider 6. Northrop 7. North Side 8. Leo 9. Columbia City 10. Eastside 11. Adams Central 12. DeKalb 13. Luers 14. Huntington North 15. Bluffton
  8. Homestead beat Noblesville last season, plus Noblesville lost every conference game by at least 21 points last season.
  9. I've got Chatard #1 and East Central #2 in 4A. It will be a hell of a battle between these two teams when they play each other in the Semi-State.
  10. Westfield defeats Carmel 38-34. Center Grove defeats Carroll 42-17. Avon defeats Ben Davis 22-12.
  11. Westfield 21, Carmel 14 at halftime
  12. Northrop at North Side is going to be a massive game for both teams in week 3.
  13. Bedford North Lawrence Columbus North Jeffersonville Lutheran Floyd Central
  14. Gibson Southern has been a very good program for a number of years. It's early in the season, so there's plenty of opportunity for them to move up the rankings. Gibson Southern plays Heritage Hills head to head in week 6, so that will take care of itself. So don't get your panties in a bunch just because someone with no influence on the real polls or Gibson Southern's win/loss record has your favorite team lower in a set a rankings then you would have them.
  15. 1. Carroll 2. Dwenger 3. Homestead 4. East Noble 5. Snider 6. Northrop 7. Leo 8. Columbia City 9. Adams Central 10. North Side
  16. I'll give this top 10 list a shot: 1. Memorial 2. Castle 3. North 4. Reitz 5. Heritage Hills 6. Gibson Southern 7. Mater Dei 8. Jasper 9. North Posey 10. Boonville
  17. Logansport Valparaiso South Bend St. Joseph Goshen Penn Mishawaka Marian NorthWood Warren Central
  18. Andrean Center Grove Decatur Central East Noble Eastbrook over Concordia Dwenger North Side Warsaw South Bend St. Joseph Homestead
  19. North should be higher on this list. They only lost to Castle by 3 points and drove down to the 1 yard line with 15 seconds left before they fumbled and Castle recovered.
  20. Tri-West Castle Central Memorial Jasper
  21. They're a talented team, probably in the top 20 in the state. However, With the brutal MIC schedule they play they probably finish 4-5. I think they beat Zionsville, Pike, and North Central, and lose to Lawrence North, Warren Central, Center Grove, Ben Davis, and Carmel. Jeffersonville is an easy opponent for LC to play, but you've got to celebrate every win you can get when you're projected to lose more games than you win, especially with the margin of victory LC had.
  22. I'm just glad that New Palestine successfully represented our state and beat that team from Illinois. The weight room culture at New Pal is very strong.
  23. 1. Brownsburg 2. Westfield 3. Carmel 4. Warren Central 5. Center Grove 6. Carroll 7. New Palestine 8. Lawrence North 9. Chatard 10. Penn 11. Crown Point 12. Ben Davis 13. Avon 14. Merrillville 15. Cathedral 16. Lawrence Central 17. Zionsville 18. Franklin Central 19. Bloomington South 20. East Central 21. Hamilton SE 22. Fishers 23. Decatur Central 24. Fort Wayne Dwenger 25. Roncalli
  24. Completely shocked that New Albany beat Providence. Congrats to the Bulldogs!
