I thought re-classification would be in 2022? I understood Carmel would be in Sectional 5 for 2 seasons before going back to the north?

Nope reclassification took place last year. Because of Elkhart consolidation, they got put in 6A for one season, which then forced Zionsville to bump down to 5A, and Carmel talking their place in the South sectional w/Avon, Bburg, and Pike.

I disagree, strongly.  There is no way that you can look at WC and not see that that program has slipped competitively over the past 5 years.

Warren will always win more than they lose because they have solid numbers and good athletes.  What they are missing are the elite level athletes that used to separate the program from other high level programs in the state.  They also dont have the depth in coaching that they had during their glory years 10 to 15 years ago.

WC has produced 1 Big Ten caliber football player in the last 5 years, David Bell.

They used to have several on the same team.

Most would agree that both LN and Pike are improving.  I did not infer that either have passed WC and BD.  Both however have the potential to do so, like North Central is in the process of doing now.

BD in the last 6 years:

    Daylan Carnell (SR)-Committed to Mizzou

Keylen Davis (JR)-Multiple Big10 and SEC Offers

    Delbert Mimms (2019)- NC State

    Dawand Jones (2019)-Ohio State

    Broc Thompson (2018)- Marshall

    Elijah Ball (2018)- Purdue

    Jonny Adams (2018)--Cal

    Reese Taylor (2018)-IU

    LeShaun Minor (2017) IU

    Pompey Coleman (2017)- Mizzou

    Chris Evans (2016)-Michigan

Stori Emerson (2016) Miami of OH

Asmar Bilal (2015) ND, just got activated to the Chargers Roster

If that's a downturn in talent, I think 99.5% schools in Indiana would take this.

  3. Center Grove: 21   Ben Davis: 14

    Warren: 13    LC: 0

    LN: 42       NC: 38

    Pike: 24     Carmel: 21

I think BD has finally turned the corner. Their QB threw for 350 and rushed for over 100 yds against a solid Pike Team. Think they make this a competitive game against CG.

Warren's defensive is legit. Did they find a new spark with moving their TE to QB? Maybe enough to score a few points and hold a struggling LC team.

LN's performance against LC was an aberration due to being a rivalry game. North Central was in a shoot-out with a good HSE team. See the same thing happening again this week against LN. Who can get a stop late in the game?

Pike is a quality squad and think they can get the running game rolling against a Carmel team that is still trying to find its identity, offensively and defensively.

  4. CG wins a low-scoring affair. Their defense is legit with two book-end DEs. Is Cathedral THAT good to put up 44 on a solid Carmel D?

BD cleans up their mistakes from their past two games and gets a much-needed win against a solid Pike squad.

NC wins by 2-3 TDs. The inexperience of the Warriors will show in the first few games and then progressively get better as the season goes on.

LN puts up whatever # they want offensively and routs their rival.

One would hope with the new CDC update that was released today, that this type of complete overreaction will end soon.

If schools are actually paying attention that is.

Exactly, one would hope! Just crazy to me how each county is so drastically different with their Covid-restrictions when it comes down to a positive test on a team.

The Mid-State, and SIAC, are probably the two best 4A-5A conferences in the state...Add two power programs in Mt. Vernon/New Pal OR BSouth/BNorth, it'd only make their competitive profile even more impressive!

Hoping Coach Spinks and Indian Creek can pull of the W against the Woodmen this Friday.

  6. Hearing lots of good things on the Southside about the Roncalli Football Team (SJW strikes again) and the new regime under Coach Rodenberg. Bringing some Roncalli legends into the fold as part of the coaching staff and a blue-collar mentality that has been lacking (1 state championship in the last 15 years).

Chatard, to me, has been the best Catholic school program in the last 20 years. The Cathedral Swarm may come at me for this but Chatard having 500-ish students should not compete with their 4A-6A schedule, yet they keep reloading and competing with schools that have 2x-4x their enrollment. Cathedral has their pick of Indianapolis while Chatard pulls their kids primarily from the North Archdiocese. Their gritty mentality, cultivated by Dilley, Lorenzano, and Doyle, should be the gold-standard for football programs punching above their weight class.

  7. This nickname change has been about two years in the making. I'm hearing that the Roncalli Rams is the #1 replacement for Rebels and there's already mock-ups of the new nickname.

And "Rebel03" is absolutely correct... Quite a bit of Confederate imagery was at Roncalli in the 80s and 90s, with a few images of Robbie "The Confederate General" still in classrooms throughout the school in 2020. Even though the Confederate imagery was outlawed in the 90s, some Roncalli students kept the association of being on the South of Indy and the Confederacy Rebels.

If only Roncalli put their time and energy to more important issues that are plaguing the school, but apparently being PC is more important....

On Twitter, we're going to start a virtual tournament (fan vote) to find out who is Indiana's Best HS Football Team the last 20 years (since 2000). Comment who should be in the field of 16 teams.
Any 03-06 Warren? 17 Ben Davis? 01 Ben Davis? 07 Reitz? 00 Heritage Hills? 02 Chatard?

18 Warren? George, Romeir, and Bell, were pretty special.

Any dominant New Pal teams we wanna throw in there as well?

Any of the 2010-2013 Cathedral teams?

    2018 West Lafayette?

2014 RC team (earn some brownie points w/Coach Nowlin and Meeks.)

    2009-2011 LCC teams?

Some of y'all would be able to give better insight than I.

  9. Here's another fun topic that can distract us from what's going around us. But who is the BEST team in Indiana HS Football History?

Ben Davis Twitter account posted a thread of their 1991 Team, who ended up as National Champs. https://twitter.com/BenDavisFB/status/1243172114724786179

It might be fun to talk about the best teams by individual class as well (1A-6A)

Is there a dividing line at some level of ball where you can or can't be a full time class room teacher?

Example: 2A you can, but 5A you can't?

I think it may depend on what your opponents do...It's going to be hard to make my HC a full-time teacher AND be successful as a football coach if none of the HC's I play against are full-time teachers.
