Good for him...the amount of D1 talent on these recent CG teams is pretty remarkable
Carroll (DB) to Cincy
Curry (DL) to anywhere he wants lol
Biddings (DL) to Louisville
Schott (DL) to Michigan State
Jackson (QB) to Tennessee
Evans (Skill) to IU (PWO)
@Groverwho else am I missing? I assume there's a few potential FCS guys on the roster.

Thats great they are in the process of starting a program. Who do they have as the coach starting it off? In that area, I am sure they have a great pool of coaches to choose from. Johnson County Football traditionally, with the addition of Roncalli nearby, produces solid Football teams - CG, Whiteland, Indian Creek, Greenwood & Franklin have shown flashes.
Not sure they've decided yet! Absolutely, lots of good players and coaches in the area!
-
Greenwood Christian Academy is starting a program in the next several years. They're really good across all sports at the 1A level and gives Johnson County kids a private-school alternative to Roncalli.

Evil Czech Brewery in Mishawaka is always a good eat. La Hacienda is really good Mexican food as well. Other Northern Indiana people may be able to chime in more.

Spreads according to John Harrell
Carmel @ Brownsburg (-1)
Ben Davis (-32) @ Tech
LN (-4) @ LC
Columbus North @ CG (-28)
Two super intriguing contests, two snoozer contests.
Predictions:
Bburg: 21 Carmel: 14
Ben Davis: 56 Tech: 7
LC: 21 LN: 17
CG: 42 CN: 14
-
Not surprising to me as well. I watched Zville play Bburg, and the Eagles definitely held their own, especially defensively. The final score was only 19-6.
Price, their RB, is an unreal RB and their OL is a bunch of maulers, led by a Notre Dame recruit.
Other than Zionsville's games against HSE & Westfield (top 5 teams in 6A), they held their own and probably should have beaten FC & Fishers. They're a legit ball-club who will be ready to make another run to LOS.

Great call MICFan34!
Thank you for ignoring my Pike/Bburg prediction, even though it was only 21-0 entering the 4th quarter before the wheels fell off for Pike.
But LC has been a fun team to follow the last 4-5 weeks. Led BD at the half, stifled Carmel for 4 quarters (had 3 INTs), and then somehow pulled off a W against a team they lost to by 35 points earlier in the season.
Either way, a new team gets to say they won a sectional for the first time in a while (LN or LC). LC is looking for their first sectional since 2012 and looking for only their 7th sectional title overall. LN is looking for their first sectional since 1990 and looking for only their 4th sectional title overall. That game is going to be an incredible atmosphere.

Shout out to @MICFan34talk about hitting the nail on the head. He was so accurate I started to worry he might know my fortune!
Rain definitely doesn't lend itself to teams that rely a lot on the pass. Mooresville struggled early in the pass game. They missed a huge opportunity in 3rd qtr down 17-10 and looked to force EC to a 3 and out. Unfortunately a horse collar tackle on a QB sack for a loss which would have made 4th and long ends up giving a first down. EC never looked back.
EC was quick and physical. I honestly was surprised after they saw success running the double wing part of their offense they didn't stick with it the rest of the game. With the rain and they were gaining big chunks. EC was 100% the better running team. Mooresville has a terrific Offense and QB which really showed in the 3rd 4th qtr how quick they can move and score. They really struggled stopping the run (most of the game) and getting going offensively (in the first half). Great game by EC, they should beat Martinsville rather easily.
As for Regional it will be interesting to see who EC plays, Memorial or Northview. Won't be an easy game for the Tigers traveling to Brazil to play a very solid Knights. Both teams will have to play their best (I love these types of games).
Haha! Just a lucky prediction. Like @Lysanderalways says, EC goes underappreciated through the vast majority of the state. Only Roncalli, Chatard, and SE Indiana know how elite EC is year in and year out.
There are going to be some juicy match-ups next week and in the regional, starting with Chatard/Roncalli & Memorial/Northview.
I'm incredibly bullish on Roncalli & their coaching staff, but man, it's hard to beat a really solid Chatard team twice in the same year. You know Doyle has had to have Roncalli-specific periods built into practice these last 4 weeks, due to the nature of Chatard's opponents to end the season. It'll be a dog-fight & I wouldn't be shocked whatsoever to see Chatard pull off the W.

Roncalli really pushed MV around last year and I don’t think he line situation has changed much. Roncalli might actually be better on the line this year and is offensively more diverse.
MV would need their QB to play better. Last year he missed several open receivers when he could have brought MV back into the game.
HHC is still down since New Pal is down.
Oh absolutely. You're spot-on there. There's a reason why Noblesville put up 500+ rushing yards against them
MV QB has been slinging it with the best of the them this year, albeit against a pretty down HHC.
I just think Roncalli's main deficiency is in their pass defense and Chatard & MV are going to exploit it these next two weeks.

Ben Davis: Pick their score Southport: 0
Carmel: 42 Avon: 28
Brownsburg: 17 Pike: 10
LN: 42 NC: 0
Warren: 28 LC: 24
I really think Avon & Pike will push Carmel & Brownsburg through most of the game. And I honestly would not be shocked to see Pike defeat Brownsburg.
NC has unfortunately cashed it in & they are ready for basketball season. LN rolls.
I think the Warren & LC game could be one of the best games of the night! LC has vastly improved each game they've played this year.

Wow, EC. Ok You have first hand knowledge. Watching several of both teams games this year. No argument from me then. I’m putting my wad (dollars)on EC.
If it's as rainy as expected, the edge 100% goes to EC. They can ground & pound, and do a really good job of being physical against the run, defensively.
I think one team that has been under the radar in 4A is Mt. Vernon. They gave up 57 to a unique offense in Noblesville but they've been dominant in the HHC this year. (I know they're ranked 4th in the polls but almost no one is giving them a chance to beat the Royals.) Roncalli struggles mightily against good passing offenses and Mt. Vernon's big-time pass game could give Roncalli fits.

I've watched several EC & Mooresville games this year, and I think EC wins this one by 1 or 2 TD's.
EC forced Roncalli's players to make some incredibly contested catches in the pass game. And EC's offense was wildly impressive compared to years past & hit some major explosive passes on Roncalli as well.
Mooresville's offense is really dang good as well but I think EC forces a key stop or two in the first half, and keeps Mopi at arm's reach throughout the game.
The weather is going to be the ultimate factor though.

I believe Columbus East won 96 consecutive Hoosier Hills games from 2006 until their loss against Seymour this year.
@Olympian06may be able to give more specifics

I read on Facebook that the North Central @ Ben Davis game is being moved to 3:00pm. Can anybody confirm? I get the desire to play before nightfall but 3:00 seems awfully early.
Can confirm. I believe both schools are on their 2-week Fall Break during this time.

“Trap game” LOLOLOLOLOL…. Okay
In 2016, Cathedral (a 6A Sectional winner that year) did lose to a 4-6 Brebeuf team lol.
After having seen both teams, I do think it'll be somewhat competitive for a half and the Irish end up pulling away around the lines of 35-14.

Should just have all the coaches from a regional vote on seeding. Seed it 1-4 and then random draw the other 12 for the matchups.
people get caught up on sectionals but forget that half of the frustration is that some sectionals are loaded and others are rather light. Might as well just break it up into groups of 16 teams
seeding by regional also gives the tournament plenty of variance for year to year matchups.
This is the 1st time I've heard a proposal like this and I absolutely love it. Combine with the sectional you'd play in regionals, and seed it 1-4. New & fun matchups almost every year!

Always is. As a follower of 6A and 5a football mainly, I miss the days of 8 team sectionals. The draw was always so exciting to see. Always had chances of new matchups and different schools traveling to different places. You just don't get that anymore. It is the same teams and same sectionals year in and year ou.
Agreed. At least in 6A North, there can be at least some intrigue. Who wins Sectional 4 (HSE, Westfield, Fishers, Noblesville) and Sectional 3 (Warsaw, Homestead, Carroll)?
Sectional 1 & 2 have heavy favorites with Merrillville & Chesterton, but maybe Penn & Laf Jeff can cause a massive upset?
South 6A is so predictable & boring. There's two sectionals with two-team races: Sectional 5: Carmel & Bburg & Sectional 7: LN & WC. BD & CG will easily win their sectionals.

I don't recall anyone from the region stating that they would beat Center Grove or Cathedral. From what I'm gathering, they'd be happy with just an appearance at state. Even if they do believe they can beat the Indy schools, there's nothing wrong with a little bit of enthusiasm. I guarantee if Snider makes it to state, they'll be there to win it, not just show up and lay down.
I totally mis-read that, long week lol.
Absolutely! I 100% hope they do. I really hope a DAC school breaks through to LOS, need ALL corners of the state represented Thanksgiving Weekend.

I will also add, that DAC/Region fans are feeling very optimistic that this is our year to get past the HCC or the Ft.Wayne rep. As we get deeper into the playoffs, maybe our chest will get more puffy up here and not be so scared of playing the already crowned state champs.
For you Region fans, what makes you think that a DAC team would beat CG or Cathedral, when other loaded 6A teams haven't beaten those two programs in 1.5 years? If other elite Indy area programs can't beat CG or Cathedral, I have a hard time believing a DAC team could do it.

I could see a major conference restructure happen in the next few years (and not just the SAG)... The million dollar question, is who will start the domino effect?
Center Grove & Carmel going to the HCC very soon....Trickle down effect from there.

I think the MIC has a clear advantage at #1 (we will likely get to see it play out at Lucas Oil Stadium if I had to bet right now).
The HCC's 2-4 can play with the MIC's 2-4 and have on many occasions.
I honestly think the bottom three in the HCC are superior to the bottom three in the MIC. Hell, Avon is last in the HCC right now and LN needed a drive in the final minute to beat them. And LN is probably the MIC's 5th best team.
Surely someone will come in here and tell me that I am wrong and act offended though. The MIC slappies hate reality.
MIC slappy but you're absolutely correct. I honestly think the HCC, top to bottom, is vastly better than the MIC, top to bottom. I would argue only Westfield & Brownsburg could play with the top 4 of the MIC; I don't see HSE, FC, Zville, or Fishers playing close against the top 4 of the MIC.
HCC Power Rankings (Can definitely re-arrange 4-6)
1. Westfield
2. Brownsburg
3. HSE
4. FC
5. Zionsville
6. Fishers
7. Noblesville
8. Avon
MIC Power Rankings
1. CG
2. Carmel
3. WC
4. Ben Davis
5. LN
6. LC
7. Pike
8. NC

How good are the tournament chances looking for Mishawaka, Concord, Northwood, Northridge, and Warsaw? I figure those 5 teams would be able to make a good amount of noise come October & November.

To be fair, it was a Roncalli fan who started the post.
Cathedral may not have their own home field on campus, but they ought to rename Roncalli's stadium "Cathedral South" as the Irish haven't lost there since 05.
May be a Roncalli fan but it's a CG parent 👀

Very random, but just an observation I made recently. First, I want to preface that I hope there are some viewers/guests to this thread that would consider creating an account to provide their own thoughts and opinions on the NLC. I say that because outside of a handful of users making posts, this thread is CRICKETS! However... even though there are few posting, this thread still gets a lot of views! Check this out. As of me writing this post:

I am definitely one of those people who loves checking out the NLC but not adding anything to this thread. I'll definitely start contributing in these next few weeks.
I'm an Indy guy but I do have some connections in the Michiana area and I think the NLC is an incredibly underrated conference state-wide.
