I wonder if any other teams will add an 8 man team. Morristown and Southwestern Shelby seem like prime examples due to Waldron's participation. It really does depend on the school's interest though. I really doubt a basketball powerhouse such as Barr-Reeve would give much thought as their focus is almost exclusively on basketball, but a struggling program like White River Valley could give it a shot.
I'm sure Rossville will also decline to participate in 8-man football.

The murders of Delphi teens Abigail "Abby" Williams and Liberty "Libby" German shook the small Indiana town in 2017 and, as the killings went unsolved for five years, interest in the case spread around the world.
Images of the Monon High Bridge, the Carroll County landmark where the two girls were last seen alive on Feb. 13, 2017, became iconic reminders of an unforgettable and deeply disturbing crime as the community searched for answers to the questions: Who killed the Abby and Libby? And why?
As the investigation lingered, the plight of the girls — and pain and suspicion eating at the close-knit community — resonated far beyond central Indiana. The international media picked up on the story, and the case became a popular topic for true crime podcasts, documentaries and social media speculation, with conspiracy theories and vitriolic hate overtaking sympathy and local concerns.
The attention surrounding the deaths was recently goosed by a bizarre series of events in the criminal case against Richard Allen, the unassuming local pharmacy employee arrested last year for the killings. The legal wrangling has spawned a circus-like atmosphere now threatening to overshadow the memories of the two slain teens and derail Allen's right to a fair trial.
The donnybrook erupted after Allen's court-appointed defense attorneys claimed in September that members of a pagan religion sacrificed the girls during a bloody ritual in the woods ― and police failed to investigate the real killers.
Then, just months before the criminal cases was set to go to trial, a leak of graphic crime scene photos threatened to upend the already high-stakes case. The leak set off a new whirlwind of activity.
A man identified in court documents as being tied to the leak killed himself during the ensuing investigation. The presiding judge removed Allen's defense attorneys, capping off a chaotic October. Then another man was charged in November for his role in the leak.
Now, the case has devolved into a messy legal fight in the state's highest court over Allen's request to reinstate his attorneys ― and calls to remove the judge from the case.
...
Mr. Allen will now have wait at least 2 years, in prison, before he actually gets a chance to try and prove his innocence. A travesty.

I'm not sure the taxpayers would be happy with a new building
Agreed. In the case of of Clinton Central & Clinton Prairie consolidation the two existing campuses would have to be utilized to house the new K-12 student population. Grades 9-12 at one campus, K-5 at the other campus, and 6-8 where it makes the most logistical sense.

I haven’t had a downvote lately. This should change that. I noticed Mudas hasn’t listed his favorite LCC memories yet. I swear to God he hasn’t.
Be my guest, Donnie.

That's not what I said nor what I inferred. Inactivity is inactivity, regardless of the reason. I also included the line in that same post "In essence, the state/IHSAA doesn't have to delve into the reasons, and frankly it shouldn't make a difference to them anyway for sports-related reasons, and so it protects the privacy of the kids/families and respects the dignity of the kids in not having to "tell" or "defend" their position." Incidentally, reading is never a negative way to spend ones time; no matter what the topic.
IMHO that depends on the manga being consumed, especially concerning younger teens. I take it you haven't sufficiently investigated the types of manga out on the market.

Not sure of the inference there,
That reading manga is a "negative" way to spend one's time. While hanging out at a local church is a positive way to spend one's time.

Much like the success factor, this won't work because the kids aren't there for long. Your examples in soccer still have dominant teams. Recruiting will only get worse and intentional losses will come.
So Indiana High School football currently don't have dominant, or upper echelon, teams?

I've said for awhile now that Clinton Central and Prairie should consolidate. While I'm not in favor of the government forcing this, I think it would make sense for both schools.
Just consolidate administrations or actually consolidate the schools?

I know schools like Sheridan have absolutely no interest in this terrible idea. We have ZERO desire to consolidate with Hamilton Heights, and even less desire to be absorbed into Westfield.
Indiana Chamber of Commerce needs to find something else to talk about.
Consolidate with the Clinton Central School Corporation (819 K-12 per IDOE). Build a new school complex in Terhune or Kirklin.
Actually if the Indiana legislature gets tough again about school consolidation I can see see Clinton county going from 4 school corps to 2, with a Clinton Central/Clinton Prairie/Rossville 3-for-1 dealio a possibility.

QuoteFaith Christian announced last Friday it would be transitioning its 8-man football team to 11-man next season. The Crusaders have games scheduled in 2024 after finishing 1-5 during its lone 8-man season in 2023.
A new p/p threat has emerged in the Lafayette metro area. Who will they steal away from the likes of Jeff, Harrison, McCutchen, the River Rats, etc.?

Good post. I agree that the success factor doesn't make any sense in it's current form. I've been saying that since it's inception. The talented kids get the trophy at the lower level, and the less talented kids get the bump up. The best solution I've seen so far is to bump up a team based on how many of it's players come from outside their normal pipeline. I've always been an advocate for having a multiplier for private schools. I also don't think a team should get bumped if they didn't win a state championship...........Adams Central. They didn't get their win at the 1A level, now they don't get to get their win at the 2A level. Makes no sense at all.
The only part of your post that is inaccurate, and it's the second time you've mentioned it, is the ability of a high school team to beat some college teams. Maybe you don't really believe that and you're just using it as context to prove your point. Outside of magnet schools like the IMG, it would never happen. A D3 program with 19-22 year old kids would beat Indiana's best high school team by multiple scores.
The best solution is for the IHSAA to go to a true system of promotion/relegation, and take enrollment entirely out of it's classification system.

Come on, are you serious? You do know ALL coaches (paid or volunteer) have to be rostered with the IHSAA and accredited? You can go look up the IHSAA By-Laws 7-1.4.
No, since I have never coached at the IHSAA level I did not know that. Thank you for the information, I will peruse those various required courses.

So now your issue is that private schools find a larger number of people to volunteer their time to act as coaches for the high school team?
What kind of Youth Protection Training are these cadres of volunteer coaches required to take?

We may need a "word of the day" topic to help keep us all up to speed. Just funnin.

Indiana allocated $901,000,000 for IDEA grants in 2020. The money is used to assist students with disabilities in Indiana public schools as needed. They’re required to allocate at least the same amount each proceeding year.
Lutheran’s operating budget is about 2 million.
Nice attempt at moving the goalposts, Whitehat.
No, your original question was, and I quote:
QuoteHow much in subsidies and grants does a ~3A public school get solely for these programs?
Name one 3A public school that received $901 million in IDEA grants in 2020. I'll wait.

I’d estimate it’s more than Lutheran’s entire annual operating budget.
As shown in the excellent information FarmerFran just provided your estimate is probably way, way off.
Can you please share what Indianapolis Lutheran's entire annual operating budget is?

I get making a joke about this question but it's a legitimate question. Why is enrollment down at these schools? Is it public schools in the area are a better option than they used to be? Some of these are saying their building can hold 850 but are only at 600. That's a huge disparity.
The enrollment is down at all 3 of our county schools and surrounding counties. It's not because they're enrolling at private schools, as there are none in the area. It's because there are fewer school age people in the county due to many jobs no longer being in the county.
Covid was the impetus for many parents to realize that "traditional school", be it run by the government or a private/parochial entity, may not be the best environment for their children's education. Hence the drop in traditional school enrollment across the nation:
