  1. lol go back and rewatch that play. the replay shown in the ihsaatv broadcast showed him stepping out of bounds twice while running down the sideline, neither time as a result of contact I have no dog in this fight so don't care either way but your comments are factually incorrect
  2. Ooof, that Pass Interference call was poor, to put it mildly. Nevermind the fact that the WR took multiple steps out of bound running down the sideline
  3. Does anyone know when the overall Mr. Football results are expected to be announced?
  4. Didn't get home until late and haven't had chance to post until now but I was very impressed with Center Grove's support last night. There were a TON of people in red and they were very loud. I'm obviously happy with the result but almost as happy that my interest in Carmel football is graduating as CG has some crazy athletes and I would want no part of them the next few years. Jackson & Steele are going to be ridiculous next season and my jaw dropped when I saw that #91 was just a sophomore. That dude looks like he could be playing on Saturdays right now!
  5. I do realize that. If any part of my previous post was serious I might have already given it a try.
  6. Have you considered deleting your account? That would certainly raise moral and clean up the board as not every thread would be cluttered with the same inane nonsense, thus promoting more participation?
  7. Yes he was the starter at the beginning of the season before getting hurt a few weeks in. The backup was a sophomore but the offense continued to struggle and they went to Williams in the second half against North Central. Carmel absolutely can not afford to abandon their run game, even if they find themselves down a couple of scores. They've shown they can strike through the air but it's predicated on establishing the run in order to open up high percentage throws to the sidelines and down the seam. It's not potent enough to regularly move the ball up and down the field, especially against a D like Center Grove. On top of that they need to control the clock as much as possible to keep CG's backs off the field.
  8. Are the crews working this weekend randomly assigned their games or is it based on merit?
  9. That's the million dollar question. He was surprisingly sharp against Merrillville but in a notably different role than what we saw him in to start the season. He was able to use his legs (and of course the threat of the 3 running backs) to help open some high percentage throws to the flat/outside and challenge the safeties when they crowded the box. Most importantly he took care of the ball, avoided silly mistakes, and kept them from getting behind the down/distance which is when that offense really struggles. That said, Merrillville is most certainly not Center Grove. Some of the things that came relatively easy Friday (by virtue of Carmel's OL controlling the line of scrimmage) won't be such a given this weekend. If Williams is out again it certainly hurts their chances and the O is a little less dynamic as that's one less big play threat on the field . The OL and running game will have to carry even more of the load and make more than a few plays. If that doesn't work and Quigley is is forced to throw the ball 20+ times it's going to be a long night.
  10. No but they're will to share custody so CG would get Wednesday night's and every other weekend
  11. these same rehashed arguments, which are already taking place in multiple other threads, are so lame and boring so I'm going to post this because it's even slightly game related
  12. It's interesting just how closely these teams mirror each other. I have to think that anyone picking Carmel in this one is doing so for the same exact reasons you listed above. Even their seasons have had very similar trajectories.
  13. Also does anyone know if this is being televised or streamed anywhere? Looks like MICNetwork and WTHR will be showing the Ben Davis/Center Grove game
  14. In large part to the offense finally gaining traction, which in turn took some of the pressure off of the defense and limited their snaps. If injuries force some guys out tomorrow there's a chance that we might see the offense regress back to what it was during the first half of the season.
  15. Are you still involved with officiating in any capacity? I've seen you mention observing crews and didn't know if that was for personal enjoyment or in some kind of evaluator role. Apologies if this has already been established but I didn't see an answer when I did a quick check
  16. Obviously the future potential is there but is even currently the best player on that D?
  17. Is Walton the DE? Did you happen to see them play at all this year? Curious as to what type of offense they run and who (other than Walton) are the players to keep an eye on.
  18. Agree that this could be closer than many are expecting. Also love the It's Always Sunny reference.
  19. Since making the switch at QB I would say yes they're better (but much of that is due to just how bad and ineffective the offense was last year/the first 6 weeks of the season). Christian Williams has brought some much need confidence back to the offense. His speed and athleticism has opened up space for the trio of running backs and he's proven to be a more than capable passer too. He's not going to come out and throw for 300 yards but he's accurate enough 20 yards and in to keep defenses honest and throws a very soft, catchable ball. Since the midseason switch under center, they've been averaging close to 30 points per game despite the starters not playing in the 4th in about half of those games. It's been night and day since he's taken over which is why injuries are such a concern at the moment. They're probably not going to go out and hang 70 on anybody but with their defense that's not really necessary. If they can continue to control the line of scrimmage, protect the ball, chew up yards between the tackles and stay in front of the down/distance they'll be in decent shape. The defense is playing at a similar level to what we saw last year and still the strength of the team . The linebacking corp is possibly the best in the state and has several guys that will be playing at the next level. The run D has been pretty strong as a whole but considering the 3 other teams left it's going to have continue to rise to the occasion.
