Sectional 32 - 2024

Posted by Memorial Athletic department for game parking lots. I thought I would post here for our Southridge friends. I see they have never played Bosse before either. I have seen visitor fans park in "C parking" and have to walk around. Maybe its easy access off of 41, but maybe difficult to get out. I recommend "A parking" and walk down Powell to enter stadium at visitor gate3. I doubt you get there early enough for "B parking" area. There will be a gang of Tiger fans getting ready for the game there. If lots are full, I tend to go north and try to find a spot on the street somewhere. Could be a several blocks away. Think of big game basketball tournaments at Memorial Gymnasium. -

I agree with Fisher/Lindauer comment. Both great playmakers, field vision, and great arms. I think this years overall defensive team speed makes that difference. Lindauer had other receivers, but you knew where he was going most the time. I agree this is a great group of receivers. I found this even more interesting. regular season (neutral field) [2024] Reitz Memorial (Evansville, IN) 28 (81%), [2019] Reitz Memorial (Evansville, IN) 14 (19%) -

Now that we are few weeks past this post and have seen the Memorial games against Reitz, Vincennes, Castle, and MD again, this defense is really good. Especially bending, not breaking with only a couple of exceptions over this season. I would have to give the nod to the 2019 defense though. At this point in the season they had twice as many sacks and 50% more interceptions. Brock Combs and Logan Johnson on the Ends were a constant problem for QB's and the LB's and secondary just sucked up every hurried pass. Long yardage downs for opposing offenses were typically a nightmare. The Castle 3rd quarter this year was an example of not shutting the door a couple times on long yardage and allowing that drive to continue. Castle made some great plays. TFL's are comparable which I take as the defense up front against the run is similar. Offense is much better than 2019. I hate to jump ahead a week, but from what I have seen I think Heritage Hills should be comparable to a Castle game. McCool and Goldsberry very similar with their speed and strength. One difference is I don't recall Castle playing anyone both ways except one goal line play with Patterson. I still say this is the eventual result. -

Are they really not going to stream the Gibson Southern/Heritage Hills game? Everything I see still says TBD. HHQB Club says they are trying to figure out the hoops to jump through for IHSAA game. -

Maxpreps also has it at 7pmCT. More importantly, Heritage Hills High School athletics calendar also has it at 7pm CT. You listed CST, but we our actually CDT right now. -

Just a little more reference for display of what soon could arguably be called the State Championship won at Sectional with the Final Coaches poll for whoever makes it out. -

I would tend to believe the Maxpreps. It did say 7pm previously and was updated to 6:30pm. I think Maxpreps is controlled by school affiliated people. Harrell sometimes lags on the updates and I think 7pm was more of an initial default common start time state wide. -

Memorial fans should be routing for Mt. Vernon over Southridge. With at Mt.Vernon in Round 2, it would then put a HH matchup (or anyone else) at the friendly confines of Enlow Field for the championship. Should want that home field advantage since Memorial is such an underdog. -

This is somewhat laughable in regards to Memorial and Mater Dei for Sectional % and the comparison to Southridge and Gibson Southern. The mechanism that calculated this must value PAC chances somehow and/or home/away impact crazy high. I have watched a lot of Memorial, a little bit of 3 games of Heritage Hills, including the Southridge game, Mater Dei once. Southridge is in the sub 1% group. I think they would have a tough time with Vincennes. It is in high probability, unless something magical happens at the Jewell or Goebel pulls a rabbit out, that it will end up like this below. Memorial at Heritage Hills. If Heritage Hills is able to consistently run the ball, it will be trouble for Memorial. If they have to throw, they will have a hard time winning. -

That would be my guess, or would they try to postpone it to Saturday and have it at the bowl? -
You were right. I don't know if underestimated Jasper or overestimated Castle. Reitz was one tough bobbling catch away from being shutout and could not prevent the running clock.
-
No, Jasper does not. No, Reitz does not.

I would have to agree with the current Coaches poll for seeds. Obviously debatable for the top 2 spots. I would only use Sagarin as loose reference for high school teams due to team management anomalies. Memorial goes 35-0 in first quarter against Bosse and basically finishes the rest of the game with JV and Freshmen players. Wins 42-22 and drops ~8 Sagarin rating points I assume for low margin of victory vs weak opponent. In my opinion, Memorial has its best team since the 2019 & 2018 seasons, with a better defense than both those years. The next 3 weeks should show that more. Considering the current game results, and the history of Memorial having lost only to the eventual state champion every year except 2020 recently in 4A, I give the #1 to Memorial. I think the other teams have to prove they can beat them in 3A with what they have shown so far. It bolds well for anyone coming out of 32. h h -

Don’t know about Mt. V yet, but I would replace 2018 Chatard with 2019 Mooresville. I recollect that Chatard was big names and hype that didn’t pan out on the field in the game I saw. Much like the big plays vs East Central with the Rogers one handed interception with clock winding down that set up the Brougham field goal, the Mooresville plays of Stepto pick 6 with spin move, Quick forced fumble on the KO, Stepto-Pence-Hurley TD in 3 successive plays to get 14-0 lead that was the game difference will be talked about for years. -
I’ve only seen EN vs Hobart. If that is representative, EM gets 2 INT’s minimum. I like EN OL. The key for EM will be to handle the pulling EN linemen and stop the run. If EN runs, it will be long afternoon for EM. There has been only one team score more than 2 touchdowns in regulation on EM starting defense. Eville North with big plays from super fast DMcKinney early in season. EM doesn’t give up the big scoring plays anymore. I didn’t see anything as explosive as what EvilleCentral has. The EM defense will hold. EM offense will get just enough done with most likely scoring help from defense. EM 17 EN 14
