Taking a poll. Vote Yea or Nay
My overall stance is that it is not a good idea. Although there are exceptions to every rule, it is almost impossible for a parent to be unbiased in their treatment or assessment of their own child. Either too critical or alternatively view the performance through rose colored glasses. Even if somehow you're able to remain objective, the optics are bad and leave yourself and team open to criticism.
Youth - Yea - in most cases dads are needed at this level as you don't get a ton of people volunteering to coach 3-6th graders.
MS - Nay- not a good idea if you have alternatives
HS - Nay - not a good idea if you have alternatives
There are a bunch of variables:
1. Qualification of the coach - better be rock solid.
2. Player's talent - As the player's talent level goes down, the number of questions goes up.
3. team performance - If you go 10-0 there will be questions but they won't be very loud. If you go 1-9 look out.

Looks like C v H is the only game that will get much attention this week. C by 3
how is Concordia looking this year? Much improved over last year?

That should be a good one. I swear to God it will be. Might decide 2A North. Looks like Madder Days is getting ready for a run in the south.
The amount of pioneer ball washing in gid is a little over the top. Still #1 in the gid 2A poll? They are a good 2A team but they will not represent the North this year... got beat by New Haven who will finish middle of the pack in the NE8 best case. Saw the film... good but not elite.

How is Luers this season? I've not followed the North in 2A.
They’re ok but not the Luers of old. Will be v surprised if the make it out of sectional with Fairfield And Bremen in their way

I'm more concerned with Lcc's lack of quality reps ... as Tri West, Guerin, Rensey cancelled... Tipton half strenght.. then bowing out in the post season due to covid. Either way.. its alot to overcome for the Knights.... not sure they're up to it..... Agree.. overall.... the Lutherns r in the drivers seat at this point.... in the north... its SA..
southwood may challenge in the north. 3 rivers and acac offer equally weak conference schedules so it’s difficult gauge.

Lutheran is at a different level. If AC is serious about making a run they need to follow Lutheran’s lead and take the opportunity this week to play a decent team instead of beating up on ACAC.
Credit also to bluffton for scheduling a good game this week

Not sure if he's out for the year or what the status is. The game turned once he went down. AC had started to run and control the game. Once he went out the offense stalled and basically was just giving the ball to Heyerly. It went very conservatively as if the Jets shut it down completely to fight another day. I do think SA would win a rematch this time if it occurs due to the weapons they have. However, they probably will be ranked #1, but neither SA or AC played well enough to be a top 3 team this past Friday. Some would say officiating, but SA had way too many penalties and undisciplined football. AC just doesn't have a strong enough defense with all the youth in key spots. The offense still is one dimensional against tough opponents. I'm also concerned with SA's run defense. It was much better in the 2nd half, but then again the Jets went ultra vanilla without Currie then. Monroe Central had a lot of success the week before as well. They(SA) also had some offensive line issues in the first half (due to injury I believe). Lutheran lost in 20T to a 4A school as well that looked to be stronger than any ACAC team. I still put Lutheran as the team to beat after watching AC & SA all season. Don't get me wrong, I want an Adams County school to win it all, but they aren't playing to that level yet. I'm curious as to how well LCC will be. They seem to have COVID issues going on there. If they return a lot from last year, then I think they would be the 1A North favorite until SA gets their issues fixed.

Touching of the kick by an R player behind the LOS is ignored, like it never happened. If R touches the kick beyond the LOS, and K recovers it, it’s a 1st and 10 for K at the spot of recovery. Anytime R is first to touch a scrimmage kick beyond the LOS, the team in possession at the end of the down is going to have 1st and 10.
Thanks for the explanation.

Score one for the good guys.
So does the call change if the dlineman had been beyond the LOS? Does the call change had the ball been recovered beyond the LOS?

Inquiring minds want to know.
Sounds like they got it right. R ball at the spot if the recovery.

Did the defensive player touch the kick beyond the line of scrimmage? If he did, and the ball hadn’t been first touched beyond the LOS by a K player, whoever has the ball at the end of the down is going to be able to keep it, 1st & 10. If the ball wasn’t beyond when touched, it’s dead there where recovered by the K player.
It was 4th down. Went back and watched film and it was very close but I would say that the Dlineman was slightly behind the LOS when attempting to field the punt. The ball was recovered by K team behind the LOS.
46 minutes ago, Bobref said:If the kick is recovered by R anywhere on the field, it belongs to R. In this scenario, if the ball is not touched by R beyond the LOS, then it depends what down it was when kicked. If it’s 4th down, and the recovery is behind the LOS it’s going to be R’s ball regardless who recovers, because the line to gain was not made. If it wasn’t 4th down, if K recovers behind the LOS, it’s K’s ball and the down counts. These all assume a recovery, but no advance.

Punt is partially blocked and goes straight up to around the line of scrimmage. A defensive lineman attempts to field the punt but muffs the catch and the ball is loose. Recovered by the kicking team. Whose ball?

Knights knocks off 2nd straight ranked 4A team East Noble. Come on GID pollers... show us some love next week.

The trend is not downward in many places. Over 50% of the new cases are 40 and under. This is going to get more serious as we move along n the season

Agree. Once we're within 2 weeks of sectional I really think coaches need to start taking a hard look at who they REALLY need out there. Put your 3 deep chart together and ride with those players. The bigger your team, the more likely COVID will take you out instead of an opponent.
Would be horrible for seniors to have to forfeit due to the 3rd string punter testing positive.

He has been great. Was incredible as a player. Young guy similar to Mosier when he started at SA. He will get guys out which is the hardest part. I like listening to him on Saturday morning radio. We have so much untapped talent at Bellmont and I think he will get them out.
Seems to be a solid hire. Starts with MS imo. Have to get those kids playing. Heard they’re playing 8 man due to numbers. Not a good sign.

So can junior high coaches
junior high is the key imo. U have to strike a balance. U have to maintain numbers (as best u can), continue to teach, have fun AND u have to get some Wins. I’ve seen MS programs with 75 kids out. EVERYONE got to play.... ALOT. Got thumped every week. Athletes got sick of it and quit playing... the rest didn’t stick with it either cause all the athletes quit. took 5 years to rebuild.

Yes, I thought losing Stutzman was the biggest reason. Like you said, instead of two vertical threats it was one, thus allowing more attention to Miller. Although, I think Cook's speed could help this year. The biggest impact will be the AC defensive end position as no one has matched Voirol's output. Collier has shut down his side of the line, but the youth hasn't on the other. This is the make it or break it year for South Adams in my opinion. AC has some good juniors and freshmen, but I'm curious to see when this years freshmen class becomes juniors & seniors. They have some talent and had been 2 deep for most positions if they all stick with it. They will have a few 8th graders with talent and another talented 7th grade class joining them. I would rate the freshmen as the better class of the 3, but the 7th grade isn't far behind when comparing each at each stage. The 8th graders may not be as talented as the grades around them, but they bring that grit and determination factor that is needed. Though in a few years after those grades, I'm going to have to briefly support the Starfires for a bit due to family.

If pioneer stays #1 in 2A then Ud think the team that thrashed New Haven would get a little love in the 3A poll?

Struggling to defend the pass is not a recipe for success vs SA. Going with same score as Reg season last yr 14-42 stars

Some really good thoughts.
1. Back to back classes is huge. 3-4 in a row and ur starting to talk powerhouse not just a solid program.
2. O’Shea was the first name that came to my mind as well. LCC dropped off quite a bit immediately after his departure and he’s done a great job at N.C. but it’s 6a so I wasn’t sure how pertinent my post was to that class.
3. Weights and nutrition are icing on the cake once u have the athletes interested and involved. Which is a biggest hurdle for many programs across the state. If u don’t get the athletes to play then it doesn’t matter what u feed ur team.

I don't think so. There are plenty of arguments for not playing the most difficult SoS, such as if you have relatively small roster, you want your best players to rest/not risk injury as much. I've seen it first-hand and have concluded at 3A and below SoS means little if anything, when you have players well-coached and capable athletically of getting you through the tournament. Philosophies may differ, but Monday-Tuesday practice was almost always more physically demanding than any game I played in -- same for mental toughness (mistakes) from two-a-days until Weeks 14 and 15.
ETA: To clarify 3A and below, that is assuming programs have larger rosters in 4A and above. I know there are always exceptions, but generally that holds true and roster size hasn't prevented success in the lower classes. Your best athlete getting injured because they have to play four quarters, two-ways (or more) can prevent success.
Last time i watched Eastbrook play there was about 80 kids on the field warming up.

To me there are 2 good examples in South Vermillion (2A) who turned it around in 3 years and also at Mount Vernon (Fortville) (4A) who has only needed 2-3 to become the top dog.
SV is a pretty good example ... seems like they’re on solid ground as of last year. Mount Vernon seems to have been a good program with one bad year so not as good of an example imo but I’m not real familiar with the teams or area...just going by records on JH

Based on Saragin and Greensburg v Bluffton game it looks like twin-lakes is on par with the Tigers ... Bluffton was down by a couple scores early but came back to win.
