  1. New Week 2 Thread started titled - WRC Week 2
  2. Week 2 thread. Let’s get started. Attica vs Tri-County: The Ramblers will be an interesting team this year. In addition to Coach Good resigning, this group is down to about 18 players. After multiple years of success with players like Harmeson, Little, and Sheridan, is this the team that takes the plunge after losing maybe the best lineman in the conference in Hargan and two great athletes in Douglas and Kirkpatrick. My guess is yes. But not this week. The Ramblers get in the win column 20-14 Seeger vs Twin Lakes: A new scheduled game further proving that the fighting Herbies will take on a teams - any time, any place and any where. Under the shadow the hall of famer that always cast over Seeger mountain, Team King returns nearly all their offense and will be as physical as any team in the league. Back from a Covid vacation, the Fighting (Don’t call me New England) Patriots start their march to a great season with high expectations. Patriots 50 Tri-County - 0 Parke Heritage vs Covington: Rumor has it that PH has T-minus 2 years to get their return on investment on Coach Moore Highly paid hall of famers are hard to come by and expectations continue to rise The fans are fickle in Rockville and the talent stream is lacking behind this group of athletes So many questions are to be answered and most important will be how many passes will they throw when leading by more than 30? Can the offense win games in poor weather? The sectional is winnable if they can, but the wrath of Crabtree and his quarters still lurk. Its obvious what Covington wants to do. Wide open, full spread, call plays at the line X’s and O’s are great, but you must have the Joe’s Unfortunately, the Trojans lost maybe the best athlete in the conference and a stud MLB on defense. Virtually reality is cool, but it’s not beating the Wolves PH 55 Trojans 13 South Vermillion vs North Vermillion: I’ve written is once and I’ll write it again, the Wildcats have won one sectional game since 2010. It’s cool to be the big fish on the small pond and cooler to start 22 D1 athletes, but does the regular season matter for the Wildcats at this point? This is all about the march to the playoffs and that path goes through Western Boone. All we can ask at this point is to keep the studs off the kickoff team, keep them healthy and limit group texting to coaches complaining about other coaches. The matchup against the Falcons provides quite the intrigue given their peers from the north lost their QB, RB, top WR’s and top tackler. But when has that ever impacted Team Crabtree? Never. The falcons keep it close with a new philosophy and look on offense, but drop their second street to the Wildcats SV 30 NV 20 Riverton Parke - No game. So the Panthers got an Under Armor sponsor? Wow. Team Sanders will do their best to build on a 3 win season last year. Some say the only thing their coach will win is a bench press contest. Not so fast my friend. Despite the loss of the older Hazzard who led the team in offense and tackling, the Panthers get a little older with a large junior group and benefit from a weaker conference and schedule No game this week for the Panthers due to Covid,......again. This time it was their opponent who couldn’t play. Until then, the Panthers are still a mystery team and sit atop the conference standings with zero losses Fountain Central - (No game) I’m not paid consultant, but I’d be more than happy to be a free one from time to time. If only potential coaches would reach out and ask about jobs before accepting them, huh? My first question would be - “Did Herb or the Hall of Famer recently coach them?” “Yes!” “And they recently left for another school?” “Yes..?” “Run. Run as fast as you can or have a lot of patience and sign a 10 year contract because the well is dry” Coach Hall takes another step in year 3 with his midline/option offense and 3-4 defense, but to no avail. I’m predicting another rough season for the Mustangs is ahead. But much like the Panthers, they continue to be a mystery team and undefeated until we see them play.
  3. ??? Twin Lakes had Cloverdale this upcoming Friday.
  4. With all that D1 talent, will anyone be able to stop them? The big fish in the small WRC pond has only won one sectional game since 2010. The pressure is on at SV.
  5. I’m not sure who wasn’t playing, but from the pics and video I saw, they were running the single wing offense. In full context, I don’t know what the score was or the situations either but they’ve ran it in the past and from what I know, they have the players and size to be successful at ground and pound this year.
  6. Before we move on to football conversation, if it is confirmed that PH canceled for this reason, then will they be canceling any games in the future in which they “out man” the other team. Truly, if the health, safety and injuries are the reason for canceling, then I’m sure the same though process goes into the wellness of lesser and inferior teams on their schedule, right? This is actually a fun conversation because a little Max Preps research would show the Franklin County football isn’t a top tier program. They just aren’t North Central, Eastern Green, Covington, RP, FC and Cloverdale.... 😕 In regards big games and rivals, I think this weekend’s NV/SV game will tell us a lot about how the conference could play out this year. Also, I think the sleeper team or one that many don’t know about is Seeger. Unfortunately, they most likely won’t play PH and play in the Western Boone sectional, along with SV.
  7. Attica 24 - Tri-County - 13. The Ramblers continue to run the same offense and defense from past seasons. Familiarity helps the young Attica team beat a bad non-conference opponent. PH 52 - Covington 13 The HOFer runs up the score on an inferior opponent. Because,...well... why wouldn’t you continue throwing your 23rd middle screen of the game while up 40 in the 3rd quarter. The Trojans played hard last week but the new offense and virtual reality QB software won’t help much in this game Seeger - The fighting Herbies caught the ‘rona bug in their school and were shut down again this week. SV 24 NV 14. The South Vermillion D1’s push the Falcons to their second straight loss. The Falcons haven’t lost two straight since the split back veer was popular. RP - Still undefeated and searching for a game. I bet their coach would play anyone at this point. He’d probably even travel to Franklin County to play a game.
  8. 1. I watched the SV/Covington game. There is talent in S. Vermillion county. I don’t believe there is any D1 talent as some would suggest on this page, but it’s as much talent as Barrett has had during his time there. Before they gun for a state title, they better set their eyes on winning a sectional game or two first. And pray they don’t draw Western Boone early. If NV is as big upfront as many say, SV will have a hard time stopping their run as they had some issues early defending Covington’s heavy package. 2. Attica scored on two kick returns and one long pass after an onside kick recovery. Can they sustain drives and score like the old Coach Good teams in the past with limited skill and lack of line play? 3. RP will get 3-5 wins this year simply due to better talent and a conference that’s rolled over in skill for many teams. If,......they get games scheduled and stay out of trouble. 4. PH “rested” or canceled the game after their coach found out they were traveling to a 3A school that the AD scheduled. They will be an intriguing team to watch and unlike many Moore teams, this group will rely on 1-2 players. It will be interesting to see how the health of 1-2 guys can impact them. (and yes, you are correct But I’ll hold to my $5 bet and still believe that is the God’s align the schools to play with an opening in the schedule for both, PH still declines the game. Seeger is too big and too physical to play if it’s not required) Week 2. Let’s go!!
  9. 1. How will SV and their roster of D1 talent compete against the single wing and large OL of NV? 2. With a limited roster, can Attica continue to find ways to score points? 3. Will RP get a chance to play a game after the rescheduled Benton Central game was canceled? 4. How will Covington and their new coach respond this week with with a game against PH? 5. Will PH’s offense score like the 2019 team? Do they have the size to stop some of the more physical teams later on in their schedule? ($5 bet they don’t reschedule Seeger. Anyone?)
