Highly….unlikely.
They are not shy about wanting to become the next Carmel.
In Westfield's case, more likely a Freshman Center, such as Carmel and Zionsville have. I've heard that the HSE split in 2006 caused division in the community and that Westfield wants to avoid that. Then again, I've heard from someone that should know that the current super wants a second high school. I suppose time will tell.

Any chance you know where Westfield's future enrollment is projected? I'm seeing a lot of the rural areas in the western portion of their district (north and south of 32) rapidly being developed.
I don't know about the enrollment. The high school just went through another renovation and addition which was completed prior to last school year. It's built out as much as it can be. There is talk of a freshman center being built to relieve the student population at the high school. For sure there is another middle school already approved, as well as an 7th elementary school.
As for future Westfield population, it was around 50K after the last census in 2020. It's already nearing 60K now, and with new housing permits already issued, is expected to be close to 80K by the end of this decade. That is really the number that officials want as a max. There is already a push back on issuing any major new housing projects.

Could very well be. We'd all be naive to think that a head coach is a one man show in any sport. I guess we'll know the answer in a few years. I could name a few programs (but I don't care to) who had great coaches leave the program, but the next man up didn't maintain the same level of play.
For now, I'll just stick to "kudos to Coach Gilbert for building one of the top 'pound for pound' programs in the state." And "good luck to the new coach."
From the Indy Star article link at the top of this thread. This pretty much answers the question about the former assistant now head coach:
The plan is already in place for Gilbert’s replacement. Josh Miracle, an assistant for Gilbert the past 13 years, will take over for Gilbert. Miracle has been the associate head coach and defensive coordinator for the past decade and was named the Frank Broyles Award winner for the top assistant in Indiana last season.

Not really a surprise to the locals here. Coach Gilbert ran for Westfield mayor last year, but lost to current mayor Scott Willis in the May Republican primary. With Coach Miracle taking over, a long time Gilbert assistant, the program is in good hands.

Should’ve been the entire HCC. HCC schools did not want to vote CG or Carmel in. This is what it would have looked like if a 9 game schedule would have been voted on.
The HCC did not want another schedule against all conference teams. They had that back when the three Lafayette schools, pre Franklin Central, were in the conference.

Westfield has another "cupcake" schedule :)
Opening game at Center Grove
Week 2 home against Carmel
Then that always easy HCC schedule

Agreed! Plus I love those late daylight hours in the summer.

Warren Central got bonked hard from being the 3rd largest to 8th largest. Never thought I would see the day or year
Has their enrollment considerably dropped, or are they the "victim" of other schools like Avon having huge increases. I wonder where all of those new people now in the Avon district came from.

As part of a renovation and addition Westfield High School, which was completed several years ago, a new weight room was built, along with a renovation of the gym. A new aquatic center was also built as part of a partnership with the new Westfield YMCA. Currently 10 new outdoor tennis courts are under construction. Growing school districts need to keep up their facilities.

Muda. Muuuuuuda. Just jet setting around living the private school lyfeee. Just glad the we P/Ps can minimize and capitalize on all the poor Public schools.
I just drove by Carmel's new indoor practice facility on my way down US-31, but I almost missed it because their 15,000 seat stadium clouded my view.
Since Cathedral is getting evicted from our grass IPS rental (and substandard stadium by Center Grove's thermometer among others), we're searching for a new home field. Maybe Frankfort will host us??
In the meantime, we'll take any and all public players that want to play for the imperialistic private school. Free tuition and no academic standards for all incoming football players.
I know your joking, but that $9.5 million construction you see next to the stadium at Carmel is an indoor center for the band. They are also constructing a $43 million addition/renovation to the existing natatorium, so that they can continue to recruit the state's top girls swimmers. Lord knows, some other school may someday win the girls state swimming championship. Or perhaps hey are jealous of Westfield's new natatorium that opened two years ago. :)

Westfield and Sheridan had the second longest streak in Indiana from 1923-2004. Westfield dropped them after that season after joining the HCC and wanting to pick up larger opponents. Sheridan has always been 1A, while Westfield went from 1A - 4A in 2004. Bud Wright was so PO"d about this that in that last game in 2004, at Westfield, he put a 53-7 beating on the Rocks. This was after Westfield had won the last four straight years, very unusual, since Sheridan had dominated the series, especially when the two schools were similar in size.

There's a few school right underneath Warren Central that are catching up in enrollment. No one is catching Carmel or Ben Davis anytime soon.
Unless they would split into two high schools. As for Carmel, you can bet you're life savings that will never happen. A guy I knew who used to be one of the higher ups in that system told me they will keep adding freshmen/senior centers and whatever to avoid a second high school. The main reason - SPORTS! Imagine if the HSE District had not done this. Both HSE and Fishers High Schools have over 3,000 enrollment. So a 6-7,000 enrollment high school.

The Indy Star high school sports columnist just this week did an anonymous poll of some central Indiana high school coaches on what were they biggest issues facing Indiana high school basketball. The top concerns that probably would be mentioned if these were football coaches were, in no particular order: Shortage of officials, Unrealistic parents, recruiting and transfers.

Snider vs Mishawaka was the 5A title game.
East Central vs NorthWood was the 4A title game.

Luers vs Eastside/Bluffton/LCC was the 2A title game.
Lutheran vs Adams Central was the 1A title game.
You're probably correct with this group. This seems to happen most years, where there are a bunch of great early round games involving the eventual class champions, then at the state finals, a bunch of duds.

Just to clarify. The IHSAA (all though plenty of idiotic decisions) has nothing to do with the cost of ticket fees. The ticket fees are handled by Ticketmaster. Because the games are being played at Lucas Oil Stadium any tickets not bought at the stadium have to go through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster has the market cornered on ticket sales and since they have arms twisted by using only them, they make sure to "sweep the leg" while they are at it. They also have Gainbridge Fieldhouse and do the same thing. Doesn't matter what event Ticketmaster will "sweep the leg" with processing and convenience fees.
Ticketmaster is evil charging almost as much in total fees as the actual ticket cost. But this is their MO, has been for some time. Try going to a concert and see how much you'll pay in fees. They have that market cornered. Years back there was a class action lawsuit against Ticketmaster. I don't recall the reason, but they lost and were made to give anyone that purchased tickets through them going back into the '90 access to free or discounted shows. I went to a couple, of course not prine seats, but were free. Also, most of the ones on the list when it came out were concerts that many were not interested in seeing. Now, with the Taylor Swift and Drake ticket debacles, there are two more class action lawsuits against them. Obviously they don't give a rats behind.

Out of curiosity...with Chatard moving up to 4A. Will they move back to the South...or stay in the North?
Also out of curiosity, what's the best that Chatard has done when they were in 4A? It seems like they are there for the two year period, then drop back to 3A, where they dominate. So is there that much difference between 3A and 4A? Just asking.

Yes, Westfield is a solid team, no doubt in the world. Your point is duly noted. I just think Ben Davis is too solid all the way around and will win by three to four scores. Again, I could be wrong, just my opinion
I think it depends on how CP handles the atmosphere at the beginning. In 2020, Westfield was sort of awe struck, and CG had been there before. The next year, Westfield took an early lead and that really was big in them almost pulling off the upset. Now if CP is in awe of their surroundings and of BD just being BD, then your prediction could well be correct.

I still remember during the debate over whether or not basketball should go to class, and if so, how many classes, etc. Former Indy Star sports writer Bill Benner, ending a column after it was decided to go to a four class tournament, said "the sound you are hearing are the private schools adding on to their trophy cases" :)
