I think Hamilton Southeastern has a better chance of beating Westfield in the tournament than Merrillville does.

I think HSE definitely has a chance. Merrillville is real tough up in the region and is rolling right now. Westfield wouldn’t see Merrillville until semi-state I believe so HSE has first crack. (In sectional I believe) Westfield by no means is a foregone conclusion in 6A North.

AGREED...But FWCS is not 'turfing' a lower level field (Bowser)......

    AGREED.

Now back to the lecture at hand...  As I feel that we are in a vortex that is outside of the Luersfield situation.

    Luers NEEDS turf...no question!

I’m open to Luers getting turf but to be completely honest I love that grass field, I think 9/10 nights it plays fast and is very well taken care of. As I stated previously, over an inch of rain will make even the best grass fields turn into pure slop.

Again, as I said earlier.  the NEIGHBORHOOD will not allow a full on Stadium to be put in place at the Bowser Field location.  Heck, the extended residents weren't in favor of the Layhmeyer Road facility either.  Even capitulating to the neighborhood to construct a Baseball facility off Long Road, they couldn't put in lights.

I am befuddled as to where a full on FB Stadium could/would be constructed...perhaps off Coliseum Blvd.?  (Old Home Depot location...)

But now that brings us to the funding of the construction.  Are you sure that the 'ultra-conservative' FW taxpayers would vote for a tax increase to give Snider a stand alone facility;  When they seem to be content with the current situation on Friday nights sharing a facility with Northrop?

I had no idea that the surrounding neighborhoods wouldn’t sign off on the rebuild. Wow. All I know is is that Snider should have it’s own stadium. I was just talking to a buddy about how Spuller Stadium doesn’t look right with that giant Bruin at midfield.

Where is Snider's turf field? I'm willing to bet that Snider's JV and Freshmen games bring in more revenue than South Side and Wayne varsity games. And we all know which varsity program brings in the most revenue to FWCS. Fascinating.

Snider doesn’t just need a turf field out at Bowser, they need to do what Dwenger did and rebuild the stadium as a whole. Snider should be next and honestly should’ve been first. I do think, however, that FWCS knows that Bowser needs a whole rebuild and may be saving it for last because it will cost the most. Just me spitballing though.

Wayne is getting turf AFTER this season.  The new Superintendent is also fast tracking turf for North and South...so that issue will be eliminated as it pertains to FWCS.

There are all sorts of "rumors" as to why/who offered to fund turf for Luers.  No need to get into that...but as of now, they don't have turf.  But I assure you that prominent former players did offer to fund a turf field.  It just didn't/hasn't happened.

Oh I know they have. I’ve heard it has to do with an ongoing project within the school itself. Maybe there are other reasons idk. That’s great to hear that Wayne, North and South are getting turf. They need it. The grass at South back in the mid 2000’s was mostly dirt and stones lol. Can’t imagine what it’s like now.

OK, Luers field is better than Cathedral and Snider, but not by much.

You clearly have never seen the fields at Fort Wayne North, South or Wayne High schools. All are in MUCH worse shape than Luersfield. Spuller Stadium (Snider,Northrop) was bad before the turf and I’ve heard so many bad stories about Arlingtons field down there for Cathedral.

    See these possibilities.

    North:  Luers, Andrean, Eastside

    South:  Linton-Stockton, Mater Dei

Would not be shocked by any of those 5.  Anyone outside of that group would be somewhere between surprising and shocking depending on who it is.

The Scecina blow out of Monrovia caught my eye.... its right ther w Lintons.... if one gives credence to the transitive properties of fb.... havent looked at how Scecina would match up w Linton yet.... an of course they have a huge game w HC fri...  hmmmm

To both points, I think you can’t overlook Eastbrook or Tipton in the North and as well as Scecina and Heritage Christian in the South. That game this Friday is a big one.

  8. Luers has moved games before due to weather. Only usually happens when there’s a pour down like last week. Fort Wayne got over an inch of rain from Thursday evening into Friday afternoon. It was a mess out there. I’m sure ANY grass surface wouldn’t hold up after an inch of rainfall with 2 top teams like Snider and Luers gettin after it.

    LINTON-Stockton vs Andrean

The Miners are on a mission!!!

    Seriously?  Or just TROLLING?

That take isn’t necessarily trolling. I picked this same exact matchup in another thread and we very well could see it. Andrean could very well represent the North. Linton is a very physical football team and they have great chemistry. That Rd 2 game against Mater Dei is a big one though.

2A North ....  Ain't no joke.   Do not assume that I am counting Eastbrook (or a Region team) out of the mix....

It’s a true gauntlet. You have #1 Luers #2 Eastbrook #3 Andrean #6 Eastside and #8 Tipton that are all REALLY good ball clubs. Eastbrook and Tipton potential matchup in their sectional final and then of course the Luers/Eastside rubber match. Andrean seems to have a clear path to semi state but I don’t count out the Panthers of Pioneer and their run game. However it shakes out, 2A North will be well represented.

Sir Hale #2 may have a LOT to say about that.  Luers is a multi-dimensional threat.

He spoke to me after the Snider game, and I truly believe that he is on a PERSONAL mission .... ground-wise.

He is an impressive football player and  I agree they are a multi-dimensional threat. However, as @x-star pointed out, they did seem to struggle in inclement weather conditions. If a team like Eastbrook who runs almost every snap catches them on a night like that, they could be in for a game.

I thought the Semi-State would determine which school from the North would face the South at Lucas Oil for the Final. Has that changed? I see LCC could represent the South in 2A. Help me out here. Looks like its true and if so lets remap the whole tournament.

They are! They are in Sectional 37 with Monrovia and Speedway. That’s a pretty solid sectional for LCC honestly. I do expect them to come out of it still but I do see it being competitive.

Looks like someone is taking up the slack of ol' Panama Hat from back in your playing days !

The Miners are undefeated and on a mission. Andrean has played one of the toughest schedules up in the region. Luers definitely has a great opportunity to get to State this year, I just feel it’s one of the more tougher roads.

Eastside played us tough last year. They have a good team again this year. Can't overlook the blazers should we both make it to the sectional final.

Eastside is a very tough football team. If they were to meet again, Luers will definitely be in for a dogfight ✊🏼

In 2A South I’m sold on the Miners of Linton-Stockton!! Man are they impressive!

Nahhh..I still remember the bell ringing for coach k as a player..it can be done..the Achilles heal for the panthers is their pass d which the younger Lyndsay will surely dissect with his gameplan..if it rains n the pigskin gets slippery then maybe...just maybe..sni high can pull this one out..

Also think the bruins will give the saints all they can handle..I'm a cyo guy though and want to stay in the bishop's good graces..

Chargers pull away in the 3rd and the archers just need to remain healthy

Those ‘00 and ‘01 Luers SAC Title teams were definitely not the norm. In ‘00 they shut out Snider @Spuller 14-0. The LAST time any team shut Snider out at Spuller. That ‘01 team I’d say is second only to ‘04 Snider as the best the city has seen the last 25 years.

Lol, not buying what you are selling. If Luers can be Carroll and Homestead, they can beat Snider. It'll go to the wire.

Homestead and Carroll were better matchups for Luers. Snider isn’t. Snider has the best front 7 in the SAC which is gonna give Carson Clark problems. Then on defense, the weakness of the Luers defense id the front 7. KJ Tippmann ran for 186 yds on that front, I envision Snider running for much much more. Not to mention Luers is a 2A school. Everyone knows small schools can’t compete and win the SAC 😎😏

What ever happend to Komets3001? I miss him calling out sandbagging Luers Fans.😁

Not sure how that’s sandbagging? I’m just not ready to anoint them as state champions like many others are. Yes they have a good team coming back but they also are losing key players at key positions and also aren’t very big size wise. Also, I’m considering the possibility of injuries (Sir Hale went down this past year and some others). Realistically speaking, a 4-5 regular season isn’t far fetched and we all know that in the playoffs nothing is a garunteed, especially in 2A North.
