My bad, my math was off.  He graduated HS in 1980. So he's 60 years old.  I don't think he wants to retire, but unless there are things beyond his control I agree he may be moving on.  I had heard last year that Danville had 4-5 starters that came from Avon.  And they were state runnerups.  We shall see...

When the class of 2022 were freshman at Avon there were 41 kids on the roster...you are correct 5 starters/contributors went to Danville and 1 to Cathedral and 1 to Ritter.  You can also add roughly 8-10 from that freshman team that simply quit.  That team went 7-2 losing only to Westfield and Brownsburg in very close games.  Last season the 22 class had around 17 kids left and maybe half of those were starters.  You combine arrogance, bad assistant coaches, major talent drop off, and a total avoidance of the middles schools, IEFA team and the youth league and  you get 5-5, 1-9 and likely 0-10 the last three years.  Oh and how about the AD making the freshman players pay gate fees for varsity games.

Yeah your dates are off but I get the point. They were ranked no.1 and were 9-0 heading into sectionals in 2019. Upset by Brownsburg in the 1st game.  Since then...ugh.  Personally I don't know what is different now, but I would think this would be a well sought after position as head coach. But, Bless is only is his early 50's, so if he wants to retire from Avon he needs to right the ship and soon. I love the Avon Marching Black & Gold, but most want to see quality football, the band doesn't need the love!

Bless is in his 60's.....and likely coaching his last six games at Avon

  3. "what could I happen to know about any of this silly recruiting stuff"

this is not a knock on you, but why would you know much about recruiting when all you know is Rensselaer?  Anything above D3 is extremely rare, and we all know D3 doesn't really recruit.  I'm sure the Andrean twitter kid will be just fine.....I wonder back in the mid 90's if the Rensselaer GOAT would have tweeted "while you sleep I workout"?......actually it's probably better he didn't have social media!!

His first offer came after having an impressive in person Camp in Ohio after his Freshman year, not during or after his Sophomore year, JULY 11th, to be exact.   You would know this with just a tad bit of research instead of just looking to find a way to passive agressive call out this particular kid for his twitter presence, which is what almonst every single Power 5 conference recruting cordinators/coaches rely on.    Maybe you know more about this ole recruting thing than all those teams listed in the link.

    Cincinnati Bearcats offer Drayk Bowen

why would I research when some wanna be scrub from Rensselaer is around to correct me?

  5. In the Covid 19 recruiting scenario its amazing these big time schools would offer a sophomore from a 2A school.  Its a classic case of internet/twitter self promotion ....it you don't know what I mean look it up.   This kid checks some boxes but why would an SEC school offer a scholarship valued around 200k to a kid they have never seen in person?  The NFL for years based everything on combine numbers, but many high school kids are getting offers with zero measureables.  I have seen skilled kids offered by schools that run 4.7 40's.

Aside from a few years in the late 70’s-early 80’s when BNL and East had some tussles, has the HHC ever been relevant across the board? I will agree that from it’s inception until probably mid-late 80’s the HHC was better across the board but they’ve never been consistent winner in the tournament, aside from East of course.

HHC blows.....horrible football.....East should get the the hell out pronto

Yes, it’s so simple how did no one know? The teams who can’t get to Lucas Oil just need to work harder. Nothing else should be considered a factor. You’d have a hard time convincing me kids from schools like Merrillville or Jeff want to win any less than CG. Or that they don’t work as hard. CG has many advantages over the bottom 8 of 6a.

do you need a tampon anytime soon?

Great recruiting on the part of OSU.  Understand that all these high caliber recruits have been told how great they are since peewee.  Need to continue to stroke their egos until they sign.

come on Purdue guy....it's Ohio State....an NFL draft producing machine.....hell go to BAMA.....funny some purdue honk getting pissed a kid doesn't want to spend his time in West Laffy

I really get tired of the enrollment argument.  CG played football for 40 years without a whiff of the state finals.  Then we hired Eric Moore who stepped up the entire program.  Not the team -- the program.  The investment in the CG facilities has been largely/partly forced by the varsity's success.  Chicken or the egg, right?  But the bottom line is that CG's enrollment is in the bottom half of 6A.  We could have whined about it but we instead chose to get better.  We joined the MIC when pretty much everybody involved thought we were setting ourselves up to go 0-9 every year.

You can't control your enrollment but you can control how hard you work.

so f#@%*** spot on.........my kid battled CG during border wars and IEFA....won a few and got an ass kicking in a few.....this upcoming season senior season I already know the outcome.....the CG program has kept those kids from moving, transferring etc...their culture is and will be a bitch to overcome for years to come.

    Mr. BigBH,

Our December showcase was attended by the following schools.

    • UIndy
    • Marian
    • St. Francis
    • Olivet Nazerene
    • Lawerence Tech
    • North Central College
    • Olivet (Michigan)
    • Trine
    • Anderson
    • Depauw
    • Franklin
    • Hanover
    • Manchester
    • North Park University

At previous showcases we have also had these other schools attend

    • Mount Union
    • Mt. St. Joseph
    • Kentucky Christian
    • Indiana Wesleyan
    • Kentucky Wesleyan
    • Lindsey Wilson
    • Millikan
    • Hocking College
    • Union College, KY

Our May event is going to be smaller than the showcase that was held in December.  More like 100 players rather than 300.  If there is a nearly equal or even potentially larger turnout of colleges that are in attendance, that means much more opportunity to be seen.

I have no problem if you do not like the showcase system.  It might not be for you.  But it does work for some kids and all we are doing, as I have said before, is providing an opportunity.  Not one athlete has ever been forced to attend.

I will post the names of the schools that I have gotten confirmation from for the INDY spring showcase on May 1st.

By the way, My name is Eric Schnur.  I put it in my tag so that people know who I am.  My record is 9-43, but for me it is just a reminder that things don't always turn out the way you intended.  It is motivation to be better today and in the future.  It does not define me, my last name does.  I took a job that NO ONE else wanted, and I did it at a time when I was not fully prepared for what came along with it.  I poured my heart into that job, and resigned when I felt I was out of potntial answers for the questons that were popping up.  You said you, don't give a damn about me," but you are the one that looked me up.  When I say college coaches are on sight, I mean that. We have never hosted a showcase that did not have at least ten.  We have had as many as 21 at a single event.  You should talk to some college coaches about who they recruit and when they start looking at them.  I think that you might find your perception to be a bit off.

    Thank you,

    Coach Schnur

You seem to have some fascination with yourself and me you looking you up.....are you really that stupid?  If I am scratching out 60-110 for my kid to attend your show why would I not look you up?  I want to know who is providing instruction to my kid?  what are your qualifications?  Tom Allen, Brohm, U Indy etc.....we get that....bro you are scrub....sorry to say that its fact.....if you can make a few bucks on the side go for it we all have bills to pay.  Personally my family situation your crap show is not needed because the direct communication with college colleges has been happening for a while.....I just can't resist f$&@*** with you.

I am sorry that you believe that I have done something wrong.  I contact EVERY college at the FCS level and below in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky multiple times.  I apologize to no one for my record as a head coach, it is the result of mistakes I made plus circumstances that I was not prepared to deal with at that point in my career.  I have not only had kids that played on my teams come to the camps, I have driven players around the mid-west to events like the U-Indy Mega camp, Lindenwood Mega camp, Best of the Midwest, as well as indy showcase events at both Indiana and Purdue to hopefully help to get them opportunities to play in college.  Every year of my tenure at Bosse, we had at least one player get an opportunity to leave Evansville and move on to play football in college.  So throw your shade, it is fine, my record is what it is.  We have had at least ten colleges represented at every one of our events over the last few years.  I am peddling nothing but facts.  Thank you for researching me, I find it flattering that you care about me so much.  I do not have to defend myself, and will not be responding again.  We run an event that is designed to help those who want to be helped.  It costs money to run and my time is worth something as well.  No one has ever been forced to attend one of these events.

Thank you coach!  I appreciate your support and knowing that there are good folks out here fighting to get their kids every chance possible to be successful later in life!

so is it 21 or 10?  your words not mine?

I have quite a bit of real world experience handling blow hards, what are you talking about?

"handling blow hards"....if you have some experience with your own kid or others when it comes to college football recruiting, showcase camps, combines, campus game day visits etc....I'm sure my 9-43 friend could use the advice on selling it more in the final crunch time weeks.....my man and his "coaches" either make some decent scratch or they don't.....clock is ticking

  13. nothing has changed....Covid 19 has altered the recruiting landscape....Hudl game film is all college recruiters have to go with right now.  I can tell you the Brownsburg DB who is no longer at Brownsburg is slower than turtle.  Curry on tape is a badass but tell me about his 40 time?  Why would a major university offer scholarship valued around 250k to a kid that has no valid measurables or even visited the campus?

It is to early to put a list together, with all of them playing currently.  I have been corresponding via email regularly, and will begin making phone calls to each school starting the Monday we come back from Spring Break.  I will post a list in this thread of all the schools that have confirmed on May 1st.  This is shaping up to be a smaller event, our numbers look to be in the 100-125 range for total attendance.

too bad you have retired from responding, but I call BS on you having an accurate list on schools attending.  Let me repeat...a recent well known Indy area combine had three colleges attend....U Indy, Marion and Hanover.  This event will bitch slap anything you are putting together....fact!  Thats  obvious because you took a dump on your own event  by saying "smaller event".   As I said above earlier.....you wipe out D1......all other D2, D3 and NAIA don't give a damn until a kids senior year but you keep telling kids that are either pre pubescent or stand no chance playing beyond high school to my "college exposure camp" because "college recruiters on site".....with the college camps opening up in June.....why would a parent sign up for your scam when ISU, BSU, U indy....to name just a few are ready roll come 6/1?

D!ck?.....bro you can call me a dick....I D#n't really care.....I just asked a question and the record is.....well just that...maybe you should break the balls of the newspaper writer?

Oh and another thing....I didn't say showcases are a waste of time... I said my man is peddling "college recruiters on-site"...that is speculation and basically a bullshit sales job to get kids to attend.  Maybe 9-43 will actually list those college coaches that have confirmed, and will attend just like U Indy mega camp did that he referenced above?

My guess is you know nothing about the dynamics of where coach has worked or the kid's lives he has changed.  This comment was a total D!ck move.  Congrats.  So you think exposure events are a waste of time, that's fair, but the comment above was clearly intended to throw unnecessary shade at a good dude.

According to a new report from CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd, The NCAA Football Oversight Committee is on track to recommend later this week that the dead period transition to a "quiet period" come June 1, meaning that college football programs could once again host recruits on campus and conduct camps.
