    No bad experiences...in your ad you mention "college coaches in attendance"  you are competing with several other "showcases" in Indy, Fort Wayne, Terre Haute to name a few.  I wish you good luck getting those college coaches to attend.  A few weeks ago we attended a combine in Indy because getting verified times/measurements is necessary, and way more important than getting a T shirt and then running around in shorts.  I can tell you U Indy coaches were there and a few Marian...thats it.  Those coaches are compiling a target recruiting list as we speak, but typically won't offer until during or after a kids senior year IF the kid can obviously play at the level.  The dead period ends May 31....I hope and assume colleges are planning to have some camps in June as they have always done pre covid 19.  Take ISU.....for 25.00 bucks you get combine numbers, drills, competition and you meet the coaches.

    another question...during your run of 9-43 how many non varsity kids did you encourage to scratch out 60-110 bucks, drive several hours for an immeasurable experience?.....my guess is none?

    Have you had a bad experience with one of these camps?  I would love to have you come watch ours this spring.  We are selling an opportunity.  What the kids do with the opportunity is up to them, their preparation, and somewhat the gifts that they were born with.  We will have several college staffs in attendance, watching the players.  The best of these players will get noticed because of their play. The others have the opportunity to speak with as many of the coaches as they can.  Try to start a relationship.

    Your game tape argument is not perfect.  Lots of kids get opportunities based on game tape that is seen AFTER they were seen at one of these events.  Freshmen and sophomores come and have an opportunity to get on the radar early, but probably benefit the most from seeing what the competition looks like.  They get a chance to see how high the bar is set.  That is a potentially immeasurable part of these types of events.

    You said a parent can spend $75 and attend three on campus camps, and that may be true, VERY unlikely, but I will play along.  At each of these camps, nearly all of which happen on FCS/FBS campuses (some D-II), they get to meet one college staff.  The parent also has to pay for the trip to each of these camps, so the $ amount is 4-5 times that in the end.  If the kid is D-1 material than great.  However, for our most expensive rate $110 + one time travel expenses, the same kid gets to do the same things in front of coaches from multiple college staffs.  We have had as many as 21 schools represented at our events.

    I get it, you do not like them.  They are not for everyone, but there are thousands of football players in the state of Indiana alone.  These events are just one way for those players to try and separate from the pack and earn an opportunity.

    I think schools will have camps, but there will not be mega showcases this summer on campuses. We are putting on a showcase, and are advertising it as such. I am not sure why the negativity. This is simply another opportunity, and another part of the recruiting process. You focused on the $110 after April first. Rather than the $60 before March 1st, why?

    60 is too high also....a parent can spend 75.00 attending three on campus camps and actually meet college coaches...its a money grab which more power to you...its business.  Unless a frosh/soph is a freak at your "showcase" they get nothing from it.  Upperclassmen are already plugged from game tape.

    I completely understand and agree to some degree with your sentiment.  Showcases have become the norm when it comes to recruiting exposure as they are the best ways to get tangible stats and perform in front of college coaches.  The facts are that we have had MANY college programs represented at our showcases over the last couple of years in December, and every one of these showcases have resulted in players receiving opportunities that they may not have gotten otherwise.  There is no reason for a D1 coach to attend a showcase, as the players they are recruiting do not, by and large, attend them.  Those players attend on campus workouts and showcase camps that they are invited to attend.

    To address the on campus events, the ones that are beneficial are the mega camps, where large numbers of college staffs are represented.  Unfortunately, none of them are going to happen this summer because of Covid and numbers.  UINDY hosted a mega, but the other campuses are hosting team camps and showcase events just like ours, but those schools are watching the athletes that they have invited.

    This is an imperfect system and all we are trying to do is provide kids with opportunities to perform on the field.  Every camp is attended by players and payers.  Some athletes will earn opportunities and some will not.  Our events are geared towards players who may not be D1, but are looking to get in front of DII, DIII, NAIA, and JUCO programs.

    I would be happy to answer any other questions, or address any other concerns.

    Thanks

    I have no questions...you are charging 110.00 after April 1....lets be honest..you and the others like you are getting paid mostly by parents of kids that have no varsity game tape.  D2,3, NAIA don't offer roster spots until a kids senior year after the kid and parents realize D1 offers are few or non existent, which is great because U Indy and Marian pick up stud Indiana players.  "none of them are going to happen this summer"...do you have confirmation that come May/June  area schools are canceling for a second year in a row?

  5. you are competing with several other "showcase" camps around the same time....charging a large amount of scratch to attend.  You will see mostly the same kids attend and by doing so they get the head shot photograph followed by a positive twitter mention by some wanna be scout.  Its as buddy system.   A ton of freshman/sophomore will attend and get zero from these "showcases" especially if they have no varsity game tape .  Most of these kids will avoid the combines because they actually capture athletic measurements.  "college coaches attending"....maybe...no D1 can attend not they we would anyway.   Now that this Covid bullshit is going away college camps should be resuming this summer....Sycamores, U Indy, Purdue etc.  is where the time and money should go.

    Probably would have been better to wait until basketball seasons finishes but I went ahead and found out each 6a football schools record for basketball and football combined. Obviously not a power ranking for which school puts out the best team but interesting nonetheless. Combined record is in parentheses and win percentage is to the right, ranked by percentage.

    6A.

    1. Homestead (33-2) .943%
    2. Lafayette Jeff (32-3) .914%
    3. Carmel (29-5) .853%
    4. Westfield (29-6) .829%
    4. Lawrence North (29-6) .829%
    6. Center Grove (26-6) .813%
    7. FW Carroll (23-9) .719%
    8. Warsaw (23-10) .697%
    9. Columbus North (17-8) .680%
    10. Brownsburg (20-10) .667%
    11. Warren Central (22-12) .647%
    12. Elkhart (21-12) .636%
    12. Chesterton (21-12) .636%
    12. Crown Point (14-8) .636%
    15. Merrillville (20-12) .625%
    16. HSE (18-13) .581%
    16. North Central (18-13) .581%
    18. Fishers (17-15) .531%
    18. FW Snider (17-15) .531%
    20. Ben Davis (19-17) .528%
    21. Penn (16-16) .500%
    21. Lake Central (16-16) .500%
    23. Pike (14-17) .452%
    24. Noblesville (13-18) .419%
    25. Arsenal Tech (13-19) .406%
    25. Perry Meridian (13-19) .406%
    27. Lawrence Central (12-19) .387%
    28. Portage (11-21) .344%
    29. Avon (9-19) .321%
    30. Franklin Central (10-22) .313%
    31. Columbus East (9-20) .310%
    32. Southport (7-21) .250%

    If I were to choose a top 3 for quality combined between the 2 sports I would most likely rank it:

    1. Carmel

    2. Center Grove

    3. Westfield (slightly ahead of Lawrence North)

    I can't disagree with your top three....the two money makers and most visible two sports we have...in the past few years Warren is much higher.

    I have raised multiple teenagers. Most "parental sacrifice" in Clinton county is working 60+ hours a week just to keep a roof over your family's head and food on the table.   Fancy schmancy personal trainers and athletic camps are a pipe dream.

    And I pointed out Sheridan <> Carmel when it comes to average family income.

    So you truly believe weekend skill development camps and QB academies are the primary reason that wealthy communities/cities have such (relatively) recent success on the gridiron?  That a Sheridan or Frankfort or Riverton Parke or Logansport or Blackford County or Carroll (Flora) (etc. the list goes on) will never have or be able to sustain football excellence due to primarily socioeconomic factors?

    Pretty much yes.....I do know that four QB's from teams in this years championship games religiously attend a prestigious academy on the northside, but its not just a QB thing.  Speed and agility clinics everywhere...I know that because we go to them.  Former Colt Robert Mathis is training D lineman.  You may not be familiar with the IEFA league buts its no coincidence that all the participating teams are Indy Metro and doughnut counties and you can track the success all the way up to high school.

  9. 10 minutes ago, Muda69 said:

    Ahh, so only "current" success counts. Got it.

    I guess Sheridan and IU basketball fans have something in common.....14 years and counting long time ago, but Sheridan football can get back since the kids have access to all those northside facilities I mentioned.  Maybe this years starting QB can drive south for weekend skill development at the QB academies that were not there 14 years ago....if mom and pop have the scratch to spend?

    Medium income for Sheridan:  https://datausa.io/profile/geo/sheridan-in

    Medium income for Carmel:  https://datausa.io/profile/geo/carmel-in/

    Yes, Sheridan is located in the wealthiest county in Indiana,  but that wealth doesn't translate to Adams township in the far northwest corner of Hamilton county.  Nor does it translate to Marion township in Boone county, the other township which attends Sheridan schools:  https://censusreporter.org/profiles/06000US1801146854-marion-township-boone-county-in/

    Sheridan has not won state since  2007 so not sure why you are singly focused on them...other than the coach not sure they are relevant anymore....my original point was a county such as Bartholomew with thriving industry is a major reason both Columbus schools are ranked top 10 every year, and the withering counties around them will continue to struggle.  Another example Floyd Central.....families with money have migrated to the area from Louisvlle....back in the day FC was HHC bottom feeder looking up at current bottom feeders JC and Madison.  Obviously the wealthier donut counties along with Indy metro the dominate football programs.  Year round access to private coaches, speed/agility facilities...youth programs such IEFA and FBU those aren't available in the more rural counties.

  11. 1 hour ago, Muda69 said:

    Hmm, I don't recall "thriving industry"  in Marion and Adams townships during the period where Sheridan was dominating 1A football.

    Sheridan is located in the wealthiest county in Indiana....twenty five miles from Indy....not sure about those townships but I can assume many Sheridan residents commute to Indy, Carmel etc for employment....fast forward to today Sheridan has many football/speed/athletic performance facilities to attend if they are willing to pay for the kids sessions....they are not cheap.

  12. follow the money...counties with thriving industry will produce better athletics programs including superior football teams and better developed football players.  Take Bartholomew County....if you combined the best players from Jackson, Jennings, Jefferson and Scott Counties to play against Columbus East and North teams..both Bartholomew schools beat the piss out of them with ease.

    I was reading thru and commenting in the Jay County thread, when I began to think about the struggles and challenges that county schools must face.

    When I think of an Indiana county school, I think first of the following :

    * Vast stretches of farm land

    * Dark 2 way roads.

    * Long bus trips

    * Scheduling challenges

    * Logistics issues

    * Poor practice attendance

    The list goes on and on.  Without a city or town identity, is it difficult for these county schools to develop a sense of local school pride?

    I may be way off here, but these are the thoughts that cross my mind, being a city/suburban dwellar.

    Brown

    Crawford

    Franklin

    Jay

    Switzerland

    Tri

    Union

    Add Jennings County to the list....new turf and upgrades not sure it will matter?

    Homestead was bored to tears on that bus ride down to Indy en route to playing a 1-9 team. It showed on the field. The following week they outplayed the HCC's best team, Carmel, for a half without their best player on offense. You central Indiana guys will bring that game up for years.

    That's not true. Per capita, Fort Wayne puts more players in the NFL than Indy.........it's a statistical fact.

    "bored to tears"...bro you are a clown...Noblesville and Carmel beat there ass and yes central Indy will beat your ass "for a half" and years beyond..."bored to tears"...still funny as shit....several bus rides since ended with ass kickings so "bored to tears" not working

    Disagree. You’ll have a hard time convincing anyone that the HCC has a “lack of defense.” 2 years ago HCC bottom feeder and 1-9 Noblesville took the SAC’s top dawg and undefeated team in Homestead to overtime in sectionals. I think there is a fairly decent gap between the talent level in the SAC and the HCC. HCC has better programs and better players all across the board. Sadly there has not been many matchups between the 2 conferences in the past 5 years. But reputation doesn’t mean a darn thing, everything is settled on the field and there is enough evidence to say the HCC is superior.

    My man be careful the Noblesville defenders will be coming for you very soon.

  16. 5. Football and Track

    Center Grove is the model for the 21st Century High School Football Program in Indiana, and for the country as well.  The connection between the football and track programs is huge.  Northern staffs should look for ways to strengthen their relationship with their respective track programs.  Having one HC run both programs is a clear winning formula at CG.

    Spot on here DT....I will add most of the athletic skill kids in the Indy area do not consider track anymore since 7 on 7 has become the must thing to do.  The bigger school track teams will sprinkle in weekend travel meets which will conflict with the 7 on 7 travel schedule.  Back in the day the lineman threw the shot/disk and skilled kids ran sprints....those days are on life support.
