  1. Adjusted for inflation the Bears want to spend more than 4.5x what it cost to build Lucas Oil Stadium, just for perspective.

And unless my eyes deceive me, it doesn’t include the cost of parking lots 😂

  2. The IHSAA works for the member schools.

The Executive staff of the IHSAA runs the organization on a daily basis.

That staff answers to the executive committee which is made up of roughly 20 members from across the state. The ExCom is made up of administrators at local districts who speak on behalf  the remainder of the members representing a variety of size, geography, and type of school. They are elected at varying intervals by the member schools. And they in turn decide on hiring and firing of Executive Staff.

The IHSAA does not take its cues from any coaching organizations, but they have shown the willingness to have conversations. In order to enact change you need to have a majority of the executive committee and executive staff on board, as they have proven to attempt to work together on concerns.

  3. I’m a massive supporter of the IFCA and I applaud their effort to implement this change. Being that I am no longer an active participant in the organization, I’ll use this avenue to make my suggestion.

From afar, like most legislative initiatives, a middle ground likely has the best chance of passage.

    So here is my suggestion

Seed only #1 and # 2 of each Sectional, therefore guaranteeing you have no 1 v 2 matchups regardless of the total number of teams in the sectional. Then blind draw the rest. This allows for the chance of a ‘new season’ mentality for teams that have struggled.

A middle ground approach that answers both points held by the different supporters.

And that goes to show not all multi-class tournaments are superior to their single class counterpart.

    Happy now?

But the original posters complaint wasn’t over which system is better, only that it wasn’t somehow accurate to call smaller schools a state champ.

Why would anyone from Carmel, Ben Davis, Warren Central, or Center Grove complain? They win all the championships. Three of them happen to be the three largest schools in the state. I mean, the three largest schools owning most of the state championships isn't just coincidence.  I'd say that at least half the teams in 6A have a legitimate gripe. Is what it is.......6A has been and always will be an unlevel playing field.

The original poster wasn’t complaining about the disparity in 6A, only their frustration that smaller schools get awarded terms for their victories.

There isn't one.  Just like Washington DC.

Another question that fits, Is Ben Davis claiming the other 5 champions are not really champions?

I’ve found the people that complain about such things don’t come from the good programs fan bases, they come from big school fans who are annoyed they routinely get knocked out of the tourney early while smaller schools get to make deeper runs. What they really often want is the chance to beat up some schools 1/4 of their size and make the third round of an all in tourney and thump their chests about coming in 124th in the state, rather than 17th in their class.

  6. What problem are you trying to solve here?

Is Lutheran walking around claiming they’d take down Ben Davis?

Id assume all reasonable people can make a distinction between being the best in the state among peers.

If your goal is semantics you need to add ‘high school’ to your state champion tag, otherwise Notre Dame might end up having a beef with Ben Davis.

Yes, joining the Hoosier Heartland Conference would IMHO be the optimal choice for FHS. But we always don't get our optimal choice in life,  do we Mr. Gallogly?  I'll take this compromise as a small win, maybe a stepping stone to something later.  And you can continue with your gotcha attempts.

So now you’re good with it…got it

  8. Muda you’ve been screaming for over a decade that Frankfort should leave the Sagamore, and now that they have you are complaining about that. After 20 years of listening to you I think it might actually be possible that you just like to complain, and that you dont actually care about the issues you rage against. 😜

  9. He is 72 so I get it. But damn. You could always count on his clubs setting the bar. Bama made college football better. Interesting to see who fills that void in college football. And who will replace him at Bama, tough tough situation.

So I conducted an interesting experiment here.  My hypothesis appears to be correct.  The construct is that the P/P faithful will argue tooth and nail that enrollment is the only measure needed to fairly slot schools into classification for HS football.  They have lamented time after time here that there aren't any P/P advantages in high school football.  Then, interestingly, when presented with the prospect that once a public get's big enough the advantages dissipate, they will pivot and argue that P/Ps always have an advantage at any level of HS football.  There is an interesting dichotomy here, not sure if it is more Freudian or Sabater.  It appears they need to have it both ways.  I mean "need" in the most literal sense.

Every school has strengths and weaknesses. Some more of one than the other.  No two private schools are the same, just as no two public schools are the same.

There is a long list of factors that lead to success. No question private schools have a higher winning percentage in the postseason than what you’d expect based on quantity. But it might be because the average private school is better suited to check off factors on that list.  That doesn’t equate however to all private schools excelling simply because of their p/p designation, and it also doesn’t prohibit public schools from achieving those standards based on their designation.

The trick is to see what the good public and good private schools have in common and compare it to what the struggling public and private schools have in common.

  11. It’s pretty obvious if you watch the wider version that the white hat makes eye contact with 70 running on and the white hat even points at 70

70 said he didn’t report. I believe that to be true.  68 also said he said one single word “report” I also believe this to be true.

but the timing here is where we can see plausibly what happens.  70 runs on like he had other times directly at the white hat instead of the huddle (this is important) the white hat sees him, jumps the gun and begins to go tell the cowboys when 68 and 58 impede his path. 68 says “report” and the white hat likely thought “yeah I already know buddy I see 70 coming in” and didn’t process that 68 was reporting himself.  White hat continues on his path and informs cowboys of 70.
