  1. Class of 2022 5-Star top 30 Big man Malik Reneau commits' to Mike Woodson and Hoosiers former FLA Comitt he is teammates with JHS at Montverde Academy in FLA and a 2 time national champion.

This makes IUs class of 2022 ranked 5th in nation and first in the Big 10 . It also provides and insurance policy for the IU front court if TJD decides to stay in the NBA Draft . Many believe is TJD return IU could begin as a top 10 team heading into next season.

Yeah, a defending state champion wanting to move up in class to avoid potential opponents. Right.

I could be way off base sure I find it interesting more than anything . Could careless what the actually reasoning . Could set an interesting precedent with the IHSAA for sure.  Sorry you won't find the confrontation you crave from this site with me have a good one Go orioles

  3. So they are 1A and will move up do to the SF? so instead of going to 2A they are leap frogging to 3A? Interesting begs the question of what a person put in the tweet reply that they attempting to avoid a particular 2A potential sectional opponent? So they see an easy path in Southern 3A rather than 2A?

Makes sense if I were a powerhouse 1A Football team that was moving up to 2A in the northern half of the state I might want to play in a 3A north (If Chatard gets sent South) rather than the 2A North and run into (Luers, Andrean, Eastbrook, and Eastside) .

    interesting twist

  4. Well the roller coaster that is IU Bball continues in the off season.

    Negative

Fife is gone after one year and very weird situation that I can't decide if it is indeed negative might not be but overall the optics just not the best seems he will be off to Butler to join Matta .

Matta leaves again what exactly his role was as the season went on was murky at best BUT players seemed to wish him well (which was absent for Fife) so at the very least he was a guy the team enjoyed having around.

Xavier Johnson who looked to be the true leader and back bone of a potentially talented roster was arrested for speeding in Bloomington so continued off court issues. Seems that it wont jeopardize his spot on the roster plenty of players in the Knight and post eras have had that the question is if the talent outweighs the issues ? right now it seems too .

    Positive:

Coaching staff - Walsh is elevated which seems to be a VERY popular move within the program among players and coaches alike a staple in the program since Archie came. Hunter and Rosemond named associate HCs again Hunter big for Recruiting and Rosemond is a rising star in the coaching game (Rumor is U of L Kenny Paine had zeroed in to bring Rosemond on his staff) .

Speaking of Recruiting - IU making a huge push for 5-Star Florida de-comitt and teammate of JHS at Montverde Academy in FLA Malik Reneau 6-9 PF is the 21st overall prospect in the country seems right now IU is the only planned visit this month .

In addition class of 2023 5-star big man 6-10 C Kwame Evans Jr. announced his final 5 schools . The 2nd overall prospect in the class of 2023 is down to IU , Oregon, Auburn, UK and UCLA . (the twitter sphere of UK fans don't seem optimistic , a visit their recently did not go well ) rumors have said IU and Oregon to be the real front runners .

  5. It can never be easy when it comes to IU basketball forever shrouded in drama its exhausting really. I like many was hoping for 5 or so years of Woodson followed by a lifetime of Fife . UGH .......................

I digress in addition to Lander , Durr in the portal as well IU now one away from having enough scholarships open for the incoming class (Gun, Hood, and banks) . IU seems to be heavy in the mix for a couple of potential front court pieces Ball State Freshman Payton Sparks MAC freshman of the year, also FLA de-committee 5-Star Malik Reneau (teammate of Hood-Schirifio) and IU was heavily involved be FLA commitment .

This was brutal. IU has played a lot of basketball over the last week. St. Mary's is exactly like the teams Butler had that were really good. But there always seemed to be a point where the 3's did not go in for those Butler teams, and they were a different team. I think the same will be the case for this St. Mary's team.

For sure , prep time for a team like that is tough as well , IU always seems to get that hot rom 3 team in the tourney (2016 Sweet 16 vs UNC) oh well I said after the Wyoming win anything else would be a bonus 21-14 and a W in the tourney is exactly the boost this program needed!

Obviously everyone will be hanging on the decision of TJD which wont be made for a while . Also who goes and who stays . the need to get shooters is very obvious but have so scorers coming in (Hood-Schifino and Gunn) plus the portal . This is how the current roster I think shakes out .

    Stays                                                                 Leaves

    Xavier Johnson                                                Trayce Jackson-Davis

    Trey Galloway                                                   Parker Stewart

    Jordan Geromino                                             Luke Duncomb

    Anthony Leal                                                    Kristian Lander

    Miller Kopp                                                       Race Thompson

    Michael Durr

    Rob Phinese

    Tamar Bates

Those 8 guys added in with the 3 incoming leaves 11 scholarship guys Gives you 2 scholarships to use in the portal: IU has reached out to Ball State Freshman Payton Sparks 6'9 MAC freshman of the year from Winchester , IN . a very interesting off season awaits for sure .

A school conference is a voluntary association of schools and athletic directors. Because they are not spending taxpayer money for conference business (each team pays dues or shares costs for trophies, et al, out of athletic department funds that come from ticket sales), their meetings are not required to be open to the public.

Most conferences are public school-only. Some are private-school only (the Circle City Conference being one). A few are a mix of private and charter schools (The Pioneer conference, which is a non-football conference, fits that bill). Some have a mix of both (LCC, for example, is a member of the Hoosier Conference. The Indiana Crossroads has two private schools among its eight teams).

3 (Ritter . Scecina , Lutheran ) Cascade set to leave the conference after next year Park Tutor rejoining or Covenant Christian are among those under consideration. Could be a true 4 / 4 public private split if they join .

Lunardi Said on DD show they needed 3 wins anyway they could get them OR 2 wins IF one of them is at Purdue. they have 2 of them . end of the day they have a chance beat Purdue on the road and your in 100% I think it would even be a big enough win to get them out of the first 4 . Now I in no way shape or form think they are going to win at Mackey . So 2 in the Big Ten Tourney would get them to Dayton to the first 4 , but losing 8 out 10 or 11 not gonna get you in.

Last night sucked , but at the end of the day I believe IU got out coached . Steve Pickell is a HELL of a bball coach , and I'm not saying Mike Woodson isn't , but Pickell though they could match up man on man vs IU and they couldn't Trayce torched them. He didn't panic he had plan B and IU couldn't adjust all the credit in the world to Rutgers. Move on hope for the best expect the worst in a week and half thats the last 5 years in a nutshell

Man never thought the Selection committee was reading my post on Gridiron Digest before locking themselves in their hotel in Carmel 😉. As a married man this feeling of being "Right" I think its called is a brand new. Better not get used to it HAHA.

Biggest check mark as been hit my Mike Woodson in year 1 get IU back in the Tourney awesome feeling and I consider year 1 a massive success in the direction of the program but I'd be remiss if I Didn't mention priority now becomes sustained success What does that look like ? For me as a logical IU fan its hearing their names called every year in the middle of March seeded 1-12 doesn't matter playing Tues, Wed, Thurs, or Fri . In the Midwest, East, South, or West I don't care from there ? You never know its March Madness after all.

  9. myself and a handful of the boys in class had it on , on our phones last 2 min I told them we have to turn it off as class started because it would be good karma ! It worked but then my principal walks in a couple min later and said "You weren't watching it !?!?" well now the policy  haha

Who died and made you "Classification expert!?!?"

-I kid I kid....at least someone is trying to come up with something that makes sense.

I still find it hard to believe that a 517 number places us in the 3A enrollment, when in years past we've been up in the 530s and still been 2A.

Oh well, time to get to work.

I don't really see why you guys or WeBo should be upset about being in 3A . with Brebruf moving up and Chatard possibly staying up in 4A. 3A becomes a wide open field IMO , whereas 2A Mater Dei , Luers, and Andrean will all be pretty loaded this year

  12. 32 minutes ago, Punttheball said:

Would Andrean qualify for a bump because of SF?  They just won a state title.  It would be very messed up in my opinion if Pioneer stays up because of success points and Andrean stays in 2A because of enrollment.

They earned 5 points the last 2 years , its 6 pts to move up . However only requires two points to remain up , Pioneer earned 4 with regional title in 2020

Another tough loss for IU tonight.....and another blown lead. Crazy thing is that Rutgers, much like Minnesota, starts hitting EVERYTHING late. a 60% free throw shooter nails 2 and looks like a 90% shooter doing it. Ron Harper Jr. is just unreal. It is difficult to keep track of who has them as one of the last four in or the first four out. I think they are out at this point. Does a win against Purdue get them in? or do they need a win or two in the conference tournament? I think the latter.

One thing the IHSAA could do, since there's one bumped-to 4A (Chatard), 3A (WeBo) and 2A (LCC) school in this situation and by my count 317 football-playing schools.

Put those three in their current classes for this year, so 4A would have 64 schools and the others 63 each. If they get their two points, they stay up for next year. If they don't, they drop back down next year. Design the sectionals so they can drop back with little disruption (e.g., Chatard move into WeBo's sectional, WeBo into LCC's, create a 7-team sectional in 1A where LCC would go).

Be careful your interjecting logic into the situation and we just can't have that  .................... 🤪

Had me until the last line.

You don’t involve some thing that ofyou don’t abolish some thing that has been going on for decades due to an isolated incident like this one.

if you’re not man enough to get through the post game handshake line without incident, perhaps you’re in the wrong profession.

Needs context.  He called a TO to get his subs in.  Not nearly the same thing.

Also want it known that despite being a Michigan fan, I completely acknowledge Howard was in the wrong on this and as a leader of young men has to do better.

vs Gard calling a timeout to get his subs organized and not have a turnover? That seems pretty close to the same thing (teaching / experience for kids who don't get to play much) .

Dakich made a rare good point yesterday and that's coach your team the way you want to coach them. This season in HS football we were playing a team on their senior night they were up early in the 4th 31-0 , in the redzone they threw a TD pass to a senior WR so he could get a TD pass. they win 37-0 . I initially thought this was a classless move but at the end of the day their coach wanted that for that player .

Would I have made that decision if I were a HC ? Probably not but then again I'm not the HC of that team in that situation. Maybe I might have the opportunity to give it back one day ? At the end of the day If you don't like getting your A** beat don't get your A** beat .

No action from the schools themselves?

Also official word was that the schools and Big 10 worked together to come up with punishment for both programs and Gard was not suspended a game just fined 10k . Also nothing for Krabbienholff who clearly instigated the situation needs to also be suspended it worse IMO , assistants should have 1 job in that situation is to protect the players clearly NOT what he was doing

but of course the Big10 is a laughing stock in so many areas why not this too ?

UM was down 15 points with 15 seconds left in the game.  Pressing wasn't going to win them the game.   That what makes it a bit unusual, if not a bit  asshole-ish, move by Mr. Howard to me.

Not only that but Howard called a timeout with 55 sec left in the game vs IU up nearly 20 pts. 🤔.
