Wabash River Conference Pre Season Thread

Here you go, Willyum. ChatGPT WRC games of the week: (intake no credit for the copy and paste) WRC Game of the Week 🏈 Riverton Parke vs. Linton-Stockton (Non-conference) The best opening-week game involving a WRC school. Excellent measuring stick for both programs. 🏈 Seeger at Benton Central One perennial contenders with playoff aspirations and one school looking to rebound with a new HOF Coach . This should be one of the better pure football games before conference races heat up. 🏈 Parke Heritage at South Vermillion A good early conference matchup between two teams looking to climb the standings. 🏈 Riverton Parke vs. Seeger One of the premier conference games every season. Physical, well-coached football. 🏈 Covington at Parke Heritage Big rivalry feel and likely important for the middle of the WRC race. 🏈 Seeger at Fountain Central Historically one of the conference's most competitive matchups. 🏈 North Vermillion at Fountain Central A matchup that often has conference and sectional implications. 🏈 Parke Heritage at Riverton Parke Parke County bragging rights. Always one of the biggest crowds in the WRC. 🏈 Riverton Parke vs. Covington A strong candidate to decide the conference championship if both teams take care of business during the season. -

lol. Wilyum - you got input into ChatGPT. Wow, you are famous! Hell, I may input “give me the Billy Bettis offense” in ChatGPT and see what it spits out. First - buy a visor. Second - Stop huddling. Third - stop yelling so much. -

I would assume this is being done to push kids to PH and move them to 2A, all while solidifying RP in 1A for many years to come. And based on state law, the AD that is retained is based on tenure, education and licensing. —— Can you imagine Coach Sanders, the double wing offense and tenderloins running the Parke County football program? It’s stuff they make dreams of. Billy, you can run the youth program. We will give you a playbook with one formation and 5 bases plays to learn. Once mastered, we will build upon it. -

Panthers sat their QB and multiple starters who were banged up. 528 yards rushing for the second team backfield isn’t too bad. Should both SP and RP win Friday, the game will be at RP. -
Wabash River Conference Week 8

Covington @ Attica - on paper this game belongs to Covington, but I’m going with Coach Dean. Both schools have done admirably in their “rebuilds” this year, but Dean is my guy. Give him another year or two and the administration to take the reins off and Attica will be competing every week 20-16 NV @ FC - Not much to say about this It is what it is. FC over NV 55-0 RP @ PH - I’m torn. My kids go to PH and I wear RP on Friday nights. But since they don’t play football, I’ll take the Panthers in the top 10 battle. 42-14 SV @ Seeger - Seeger is too big, too physical and too experienced. Seeger wins creating a battle for third in the conference next week between #10 PH Wolves and Herb’s Mustangs. -

lol. Thanks Billy. All mostly true statements, maybe. I would add “advocate and registered lobbyist to securing NIL deals for high school athletes in Indiana” in your description. I’ve coached at multiple schools and multiple offenses and I do love the double wing. Easy to teach at the youth level and expand upon in higher grades, doesn’t require studs at any specific position to be effective, and it’s a great “defense”. More than anything, it’s a (recruiting) mindset for the marketing campaign about to hit Parke and Vermillion county. 🙂 -

You just be working off of the old census. Montezuma now leads the Wabash valley with 1.3 strays per registered voter. Go Aztecs. -

Nah, they would went to watch the FC/Southmont game to scout the Mustangs and not jeopardized their JV’s three year winning streak. The good news is the moms got some great shopping in at the Edinburgh Outlet mall. Back to Library class. -
Wabash River Conference Week 5
KAllen replied to Donnie Baker's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Coach Marshall - I believe it’s pretty widely known RP had a two year home/home with North Put this year in week 2 and next but NP canceled late due to their new conference. The only 1A/2A/3A open dates for week two were Edinburgh or at Lake Station on central time on a Friday night. It could have been Saturday, but those are reserved for SV on raining Friday nights, so RP took the Edinburgh game. Truth be told, the Edinburgh game was offered to PH to swap for WV in week two and declined. Hope this helps build your case for a “solid” year. And don’t call me Surely. -
Wabash River Conference Week 4

Holy cow! It’s only Wednesday and we are on page 2!! Happy to see the page back and Donnie leading the charge. Seeger @ RP - A great early season game. I’m never one to pick against the Panthers. The two teams met this summer at a controlled scrimmage. I’ll go with the home field advantage. Panthers by 12. 32-20 NV @ SV - Coach Cory gets another W at home vs the Falcons. 22-20 FC @ Covington - I believe strength of schedule is normally a non-factor in the early season, but it comes into play here. 0-3 FC gets on the board. The FC defense is too tough and beats 3-0 Covington. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the Willoughby kid and the way he plays safety. And Wemer kid is a big DT that’s hard to move. They’ll control Covington’s offense. Attica @ PH - Coach Dean vs Coach Rector. A battle of the two kindest coaches in the WRC IMO. Just great dudes. I give the edge to PH as I believe C. Burgess will be the best player on the field this night and cause issues on the edge for Attica. it’s great having this forum back. Good luck to everyone and stay healthy. -

Wabash River Conference 2025 Outlook
KAllen replied to Donnie Baker's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Predictions: Riverton Parke – I’ll admit it, I’m bias. I pick them to win every game. Senior QB, every OL starter returning and a move-in or two that could help them up front. Yes, they lost Price, but they’ve also had an all-state RB in two of the last three years. The next man up at RP is McConnell, Lesniak and Vester (finished 2nd in the state in kick return avg). 52 players on the roster gives them the ability to play several players one way. Fountain Central – Circle week 3 vs RP as a “must-see” game. Last year’s game ended 46-6, but don’t expect that in 2025. FC had some of their big boys at the WRC weightlifting contest this year and were impressive. With losing seasons in 3 of the last 4 years, I see FC rebounding and competing with RP for the WRC crown. Seeger – Last year’s sophomore class will continue to grow and compete for the top 3 in the conference. Like RP and FC, they return nearly every player on their roster, making them another favorite to place in the top 3 in the conference. South Vermillion – I’ll give Cory and the Wildcats over the Falcons only because both of his parents are from Montezuma and RP grads. With a bloodline like that, he always gets the tie. With that said, he will have to replace an entire set of skilled kids and a couple starting OL that represented nearly his entire offense in yards/TD’s. North Vermillion – Its hard not to appreciate the work that Coach Rodriquez did with the 2024 Falcons on the field. 9-1 in the conference and a tough loss to RP in the sectional capped a great season. Coach Crabtree will build around Martin and Griffen. NV will be a tough out again in 2024. Parke Heritage – Coach V brought some great looking kids to the WRC weight context. I personally think the Burgess kid will be one of the top DE’s in the conference this year. Great wrestler, strong and great head on his shoulders. Their OL will be much improved, but do they have the skilled kids to put points on the scoreboard this season? Covington -- Hopefully Coach Wheeler gets the numbers he needs to continue rebuilding the Trojans. Just a couple years ago, the Trojans were 8-2 and competing for the conference championship. Attica -- Attica will improve this season simply by their freshman and sophomores gaining experience the hard way. They have 3-4 games on the schedule that are winnable this season. Here’s to hoping they knock down a few W’s. -

Welcome back, Donnie. Can’t wait for your preseason forecast. Lots to talk about regarding coaching changes, transfers to and from, graduation losses and upcoming players to spotlight. In my best Bart Scott, “can’t wait”!! -

Same with the Seegers and RP only has 3 that truly play. All three should be better next year and at the top of the conference -

I’ll be more curious to see if the table runs stop after this year. Unless they start over with another round of THN kids, they lose a lot of talent and Seeger, FC and RP have very talented sophomores that will play significant minutes next year. -

SV’s schedule ranked 251st in the state as their pre-conference schedule was West Vigo (3A school ranked 230th of 314 schools in state overall) and Sullivan (lost to WV). I think Dennis Green said it best… -

Donnie - The parade was in Clinton last week. Remember, that win over NP was the biggest win in school history. btw - I Facebook friended you and no response. 😞 Even though I disagree with your assessment of the RP/SP game, we can still be friends. And I’ll say it to your face.
