  1. NV will scrimmage this weekend and they will also go to North Put sometime as well. I'm hearing that a lot of teams have backed out of playing the mighty Panthers and I don't blame them one bit.
  2. RP - Safe to say its a state championship or bust for the Panthers. I think they will easily be the best team in the south. No one in the WRC will be within a running clock in the second half. Can they live up to the hype??? PH - I love what Rector is doing at PH. He's building a program the right way. He had to clean up a bunch of crap when he took over this program and it's only getting better with him leading it. They return a lot of big lineman. Heck they return a lot of everyone. Look for a huge improvement from the Wolves this year. Covington - Another group that will return a lot of upperclassmen. I think Wheeler has this program going in the right direction. The only question is will the kids and the community buy into the football program? Seeger - Cronk returns! I think they lost a lot of players from the 9-2 squad last year. Might be an up and down season this year but they will be rolling by the end of the season and going into next year. FC - Tough loss for the mustangs. Losing the best player in the conference before the season even starts is not a great way for the "hall of famer Jacob Earl" to start his coaching career. It will be a tough season for the Mustangs and I could see them finishing even lower but we'll see what the Mustangs can do. SV - A good young core that will only continue to get better. One of the better athletes in the conference in their qb Shryock. I look for him to have a big season and possibly go for 1000 in both passing and rushing. I just don't think all the pieces are there yet. NV - After a tough season last year and with the departure of Crabtree I think the Falcons will find their new identity and compete in a couple games this year. I don't know Coach Crum at all but I do believe in the athletic director at NV and I know he picked the right guy. NV will be much more competitive this year and I think they are one year away from competing for the top half again. Hinchee is going to be a stud. Attica - Could see them start the year off 2-0 and then it'll be tough. They are similar to NV as they will be in a couple closer games this year. They do return a lot from last years squad so I could see them bumped up even two more spots.
  3. I'm no idiot. I do know that there was not a second round of interviews at NV until after Earl accepted the FC job. The guy NV wanted accepted another job so I don't think it had anything to do with them not being the "best candidate." I don't know coach Crum I wish him the best of luck and I'm sure he will do great things at NV and get the ball rolling again. He has big shoes to fill for the legendary Brian Crabtree
  4. Is Earl to FC confirmed? I haven't seen or heard anything about it?
  5. King leaving (or being forced out) was probably a couple years overdue. I can’t believe he’s going to give it another try at Benton Central. Best of luck to him Crabtree hasn’t left so maybe Earl leaves for FC? Either way wherever he ends up they will get a solid coach Crabtree does not leave for a bigger school Rumor I’m hearing is that Earl has also applied at Seeger and they want to get him bad Kevin Allen is a huge reason for the Panthers success and that will continue for a long time Rector should keep Bettis around to help him with the spread offense because that’s what they need to be running from now on. If they don’t I don’t see rector lasting much longer
  6. I'm not sure who Robbie is but yes they will pass on him for Earl
  7. Earl is at his alma mater and from what I'm hearing he's set to take over the Falcons in the near future.
  8. South Put #3 @ Riverton Parke #5 - What a show down we will have on Friday night! Two of the best teams in 1A going at it for the sectional championship. Both teams dominated their opponents (Yes, @ThePrince your mustangs). These teams are polar opposites when it comes to scheme. The Panthers want to bunch everything up and run the ball down your throats. Whereas the Eagles want to spread you out and do whatever they want. I think this game will come down to defense. I don't think South Put can stay in their 3 man front and I don't think that RP can play press man to man and blitz them the whole night. Either someone is going to prove me wrong or someone is going to have to adapt and change what they do a little bit. I'll take South Put winning 35-28 Post Season Attica - Keep improving and build off this two win season. Dean is doing some good things Covington - Hoping the numbers aren't going to continue to fall off at Covington. Wheeler has done a great job and if he can keep kids coming out Covington will be competitive soon again. Fountain Central - I'm with Donnie of this one. Time for a change for the Mustangs North Vermillion - I'm not sure next year gets much better for the Falcons. Does Crabtree stay this time? Parke Heritage - Best season for the Wolves since Moore left. I only see them getting better too. The junior high dominated the wrc from what I've heard. I've also heard a familiar face has been on those sidelines coaching the junior high. We'll see what the future holds. Riverton Parke - Rumor is that they will be better next year. Looks like they might as well make the 2026 conference banner now. Great things are happening in southern parke county but can they win the big games that count? Seeger - As long as coach Ragan is leading the program they will be in good hands. South Vermillion - Coach Miller has done some good things this year and I only see the young Wildcats getting better next year. Their QB is one of the better athletes in the conference.
  9. Seeger @ Lewis Cass - I think this game will be close. Seeger fell apart in the second half last week but I don't see that happening this week. They will play hard and compete the whole game. Coach Ragan is a great coach and has done a fantastic job with this team. Seeger wins 28-26 South Put @ FC - Sorry Prince but this one won't be close. Herb is a great coach and has done some awesome things in the WRC but this game won't be one of them. South Put wins 54-12 North Central @ RP - The Panthers didn't play their best game last Friday. I'm wondering if maybe they rested some of their starters again but a win is a win and it was also by 40. I guess I just have higher expectations for the Panthers. I truly think they are the best team in 1A and will roll this week. Panthers win this one 52-14. Should be an awesome sectional championship. Does anyone know where the game will be played?
  10. LCC @ Seeger - Seeger takes care of business. Down year for LCC and Seeger is playing great ball. Should be a great round two ball game next for them. Seeger 38-12 Sullivan @ South Vermillion - The Wildcats lose this game but have a good young group to build on for the future. I don't think SV is too far out from being able to compete again. Sullivan wins 52-12 Attica @ South Put - Great season Attica. Huge improvements this year from the Ramblers and I only see them getting better. South Put is the front runner for the state title in most people eyes (not mine). South Put wins by as much as they want. PH @ FC - Surely Herb won't mess this up. I've heard that PH was up 6-0 early and Fountain Central kept turning the ball over. I do think that The Mustangs will do what they need to do and win this game. FC wins 48-8 Sadly for @ThePrince the Mustangs season only has one more week. My question to Prince would be is it time for your kin to ride into the sunset? Covington @ North Central - This should be the game of the week. I think there will be a lot of points scored. Covington has played a tougher schedule. North Central's best win is against 2-7 South Spencer... Covington wins this one by two scores. Covington 38-20 RP @ NV - This one was close for the first half last time these teams faced. It was 21-3 at halftime and NV had multiple chances in the red zone but did not convert. It will not be remotely close this time. The Panthers are on a mission and as I previously stated that some see South Put as the favorite I see Riverton Parke as the favorite. They are going to run the ball down everyones throats straight to Indy. In class 1A Riverton has the best offense and defense statistically and they will show it during this playoff run. Panthers by as much as they want.
  11. I’m not sure what polls you’re looking at. Riverton parke is #3 and parke heritage is #35 in the Sagarin Ratings
  12. @ThePrince When is the last time Herb has won a conference title? Or any game with meaning to it? Asking for a friend.
  13. I agree with you. That's why I said "hype" Nobody in the WRC is going to compete with RP. I've seen them play twice now and I think they're the best team in 1A. No one is more aggressive on both side of the ball like they are
  14. Only one game with any "hype" around it. Covington @ Attica - Covington is going to be healthy at the right time this year. They'll have everyone back for sectionals and is a team that has potential to ruin some teams seasons. North Vermillion @ Fountain Central - The Mustangs win big this week. I believe someone stated Herb only beats teams with losing records... That theory continues this week. South Vermillion @ Seeger - Seeger wins big and they might as well start prepping for Southmont in their sectional. Game of the week Riverton Parke @ Parke Heritage - This is the only game on paper that could be a good one.. but I know the Panthers will come out aggressive and rolling. Getting to play your county rival always has the potential to be a good one. RP will show why they are one of the top teams in 1A. I don't see anyone stopping them anytime soon. I'm thinking a straight shot to the oil can. Sectional draw is Sunday and the only thing I'm hopping for this that RP and South Put are on opposite sides. That game would be a classic if it was for the sectional championship.
  15. Attica @ RP - RP by as much as they want as they continue their dominance. Looking towards the first undefeated season ever in Panther football. I really think this is the best football team the conference has seen since probably the North Vermillion team that won state. Hoping for a big post season run out of the Panthers this year! Covington @ Seeger - Seeger will win out the rest of the season and possibly mercy rule everyone. Healthy or not Covington won't be able to hang. Seeger wins 52-12 FC @ SV - This game will be closer than what you would think. Rumor is FC is battling the injury bug as well... Maybe that's the reasoning for the butt kicking last week or FC just isn't as good as we thought they were? The Mustangs win this one but it's close for at least a half or maybe three quarters. FC 35 SV 21 PH @ NV - I also heard NV only dressed 13 kids. Crabtree know how to make those kids tough so I'm sure they will be fine. Wolves win big 42-6 The Wolves will move to 5-2 this week and 4-1 in the WRC. They look to face a very tough RP team next week where a win would shake up the WRC standings some
  16. NV @ Attica - Battle for last place. I don't see a lot of points being scored in this one. Attica will play harder and double their win total. Attica 20 NV 13 PH @ Covington - I saw Covington is 4-1 for the first time in 35 years. I don't think they will have a problem with the Wolves. PH will be hungry after the loss to Seeger last week but it won't be enough. Covington wins 32-20 Seeger @ FC - Battle for second place. I have also heard that Foxworthy played last week. I don't think it matters because FC is just better upfront and defensively than Seeger is. FC wins 35-20 SV @ RP - After the slow start against the Falcons last week I think the Panthers will come out rolling. I heard they sat several starters just to rest last week. The are the #1 team in the state for a reason. Sanders and company will take out their anger from the game that was rained out year. Panther win 72-6
  17. What more do you want from the Panthers? They've beat the brakes off of everyone they have played. They can't change who they play good or bad the Panthers are the real deal and I see them making a late playoff push this year.
  18. Attica @ FC - Fountain Central has the potential to win out the rest of the season and with the weapons they have that's exactly what I think they will do. FC wins by as much as they want. RP @ NV - The number 1 Sagarin rated Panthers come into North Vermillion and win by as much as they want. This Panthers team might be the biggest and toughest team the WRC has seen since those Seeger teams in the early 2000. Some bad blood between these two teams.. could get ugly before halftime. Hats off to Sanders and all the work he and his staff have put into that program to turn it around. Games of the week Seeger @ PH - I don't know what to think about Seeger. The only team they've played was RP last week and they got thumped. Could be because RP is that good or that Seeger is not as good as what we thought. I think it's a mixture of both. Parke Heritage has played well this season but they have also played no competition. I'll take Parke Hertiage winning in a close one 28-20 SV @ Covington - Both teams aren't great but they have some good athletes to make up for it. Rumor is that the Covington qb went out last week. If that's the case that's a tough loss for them. He's a heck of an athlete. South Vermillion's qb is also one of the better athletes in the conference. I'll take the home team. Covington wins 35-20
  19. Looks like I'm a little late to the party... Attica @ PH - It's amazing how much better and consistent you can be when your head coach is around. I'm not too surprised by their early success. Attica will play hard and make the Wovles struggle at times. PH 42-6 NV @ SV - Football is not looking good in Vermillion County for the first time in a long time. Both teams have struggled early on this year. I'll take the home team. SV wins 28-12 FC @ Covington - with all the hype in Fountain County this summer it might be time to ride off into the sunset... In all seriousness Herb does a good job with his teams......... Covington is going to stay undefeated and keep riding that high.. Covington 35-14 Seeger @ RP - Anyone who is discrediting RP doesn't know football. Sanders has done a great job flipping that program around. Ragan has also done a solid job at Seeger. I can see this being close for the first half. The second half will be all RP. They are too big, too fast and too physical. RP wins 38-20
  20. Cloverdale @ RP - RP will go undefeated this season. They will win this one by as much as they want and set the tone for the whole season. 60-0 RP Culver @ Attica - The rumor is that Attica is much improved. I'm thinking they start the year off strong winning the first game in at least three years 20-6 FC @ Southmont - Southmont lost a lot of dude the past two year. I think this is the year FC gets their first week 1 win in a while. FC 35 - 21 NV @ North Central - Crabtree's return has Northern Vermillion County excited. They graduated too much talent last year. North Central is still building and I love what their head coach is doing there. Should be a good one. I'll take NV 21-14 PH @ Cville - I haven't heard much about PH this summer. Is their head coach back yet? Cville just isn't a football school. I'll take PH 26-14 Seeger @ LCC - LCC will be too much for a much improved Seeger team. LCC wins 42-20 SV @ West Vigo - SV will not be as bad as people think. SV wins 21-6 Tri County @ Covington - Covington will have low numbers but will play hard. Both of these teams lost a lot last year. Low scoring close game. Covington wins 14-7
  21. I think its pretty simple this year 1. RP - Too much to handle and too physical. I believe they will dominate every WRC team this year. They may only pass the ball 20 times all season but that's all they will need to do. Smash mouth football in Panther County this year! 2. FC - Big gap between them and RP. @KAllen this will NOT be a "must see" game. RP will have running clock at halftime. Look for a similar score as last year. 3. Seeger - With everyone they have returning I could see them putting up a fight with FC and end up being #2 4. NV - Only because Crabtree is back. They lost a lot of talent but he'll have them ready to play 5. SV - Coach Miller will figure things out. He's a great guy and I'm hearing that SV is happy to have hired him 6. PH - If they could get some of the basketball athletes out they would be dangerous. 7. Covington - Sounds like a number issue in Covington. After losing a solid senior class it might be rough for a couple years 8. Attica - Hopefully they can keep some games closer this year but I think they are still one year away
  22. Could not agree with you more! They do not play a tough schedule at all. That doesn't mean they aren't tough because they are very good. I believe this game comes down to a couple things... can RP match SP's physicality and can RP control the clock like they did last week (minus the turnovers). Seeing the Panthers play in person twice now I think they will be able to do both of those things.
  23. I saw a post saying that SV is paying for the students if they go to the game and they are bringing multiple "fan buses." That can truly have an impact on the game. Both teams should have great crowds tonight and I'm excited for some round 2 match ups!
  24. From what I was hearing is that the school is making him sit out two games..
