  1. It seems you would have to have 2 division 1 caliber DBs to man them up in the passing game and commit everyone else to stopping/slowing down the run game? Try to contain Ringer and Brotherton and make Maxwell, Burton, and company beat you? With that being said you still have to set the edge and tackle these boys in space which is very difficult with the way they run the ball. Does New Pal, Leo, or Northwoods have the personnel to do it? I would say not likely but I know little to nothing about their personnel.
  2. Throw the ball, have a running QB, put 9 in the box to slow down Ringer, and double Brotherton.
  3. Does anyone know if there are any bars or restaurants downtown that will show the semi-state games?
  4. I know Ringer had 4 TDs in the first half for East Central. What were the other top performances from around the state?
  5. Word on the street is that someone on L’Burgs staff has some family in Centerville. They spotted STC setting up his camp in some woods near campus this afternoon. Not sure what the bar situation is in Centerville but it looks like the clown is bringing his own party.
  6. It looks like another ho hum week of EIAC Football with a couple exciting storylines surfacing as the week unfolds. This week we look at the greatest coach in each program’s history. Connersville at Rushville looks to be a tale of programs heading in opposite directions. Sparty is coming off a surprising blowout loss to South Dearborn and Rushville just looks to be struggling. It will be a titanic struggle as the great Marty Brennamen would say with Connersville coming out on top 35-14. Best coach in program history….honestly I know little to nothing about either program so we will go to the great Will Inman who is one of only 3 coaches with a winning record in Connersville history with a record of 27-18 in 1954-1959. As for Rushville many would point to Charles Robbins who from 1956-59 ran off an impressive 22-9 record and remains the only coach in program history with a winning record but I am going with Rocky Alspaugh who had the greatest win in program history when the Lions upset the mighty Trojans in 2013. East Central at Batesville has some interesting storylines. Batesville has some deep Trojan ties with their superintendent and new offensive coordinator working together back in the 90s to create an offense that appears to stand the test of time. What’s old is new and that new offense is clicking to the tune of 56 points last week. While the Bulldogs are heading in the right direction unfortunately they run into the Trojan buzz saw this week and get brought back down to earth Trojans 42 Bulldogs 7. Best coaches in program history are easy in this one. For East Central it is the red cowboy wearing, hot Rod Ballart. This could change should Coach Meiners reels in back to back state titles. Coach Heppner tops the list for the Bulldogs with that impressive 148-83 record. Franklin County at Lawrenceburg looks to be a war of attrition. The Wildcats and Tigers will have a pretty impressive group of players in street clothes who many picked to be all-conference performers this summer. As for this week I think the Tigers are a little deeper than the Wildcats which allows them and their big QB1 to bring home a W by the score of 35-14. Look for the Stink Town Clown to be running a muck Friday night with all the homecoming festivities going on. I doubt him or his crew make it out of the bar and across US50 for the game. Greatest coach in conference history is Dick Meador from Lawrenceburg. 2 state titles and revolutionized the game by making strength training an integral part of football offseason programs in the state of Indiana. He also has quite the coaching tree. As for FC Kent Grider is an easy pick. A state finals appearance and a 138-66 record and produced multiple NFL players. South Dearborn at Greensburg The Knights got back on track last week with that big win over Sparty. This week they travel to the Dumpster Fire that is Greensburg with hope of adding more gasoline to that fire. Rand and the boys do just that by lighting up that scoreboard to the tune of 56-7. South Dearborn’s greatest coach and only one with a winning record remains Foster Harris who guided the Knights from 1978-1985 with a record of 38-30. Many have tried since but it seems to be a nearly impossible feat for any coach to have success there. As for Greensburg, it seems that there is a lot of controversy surrounding their current coach and the legacy left by their greatest coach of all time Scott Moore. While at Greensburg Moore ran off an 80-83 record and won 1 of the schools 2 sectional titles. Coach Moore is a respected coach in the area who ran a good program. He is so respected that I hear the students in the Greensburg student section could be heard chanting “we want Moore” Friday night when the Pirates played the Tigers. I am not one to speculate but this could have played a role in the dismissal of an assistant coach this week.
  7. Not looking like a great week for EIAC football. I see all blowouts with the exception of Connersville vs. South Dearborn. This week we dive into who is the best Running Back/Running QB to play at each school. Be sure to vote for your pick. Connersville and Rushville sorry about your luck. You are new to the EIAC and have no football tradition. Connersville @ South Dearborn-This will be the game of the week in the EIAC. I see Connersville pulling off what some would call an upset 28-26. The Knights have not had a lot of historical success so it was tough to find 2 great running backs. It will be a battle of the Mike's. Who was better Mike Manford or Mike Labazzo? East Central @ Franklin County-This was at one time a game of the week statewide but the Wildcats have fallen on difficult times. East Central wins big 62-0. As for the running back discussion we will start with Franklin County....Alex Smith or Kevin Dudley? Both had great Big Ten careers and made it to the NFL. One could argue that these are the best 2 backs to ever lace them up in the conference. East Central has had many great backs over the years Andrew Wolf, Brad Noble, Alex Maxwell but I would say this comes down to Josh Martini or Josh Ringer? Lawrenceburg@Greensburg-It appears that Greensburg is by far the worst team in the conference this year. I think the Tigers get back on track this week after 3 tough weeks. Lawrenceburg wins this one big 42-0. Greensburg has had a few backs but after speaking with a Greensburg historian he seemed 2 center in on two names Trent Black or Derek Karaszia? Lawrenceburg much like East Central has a long list of great backs but 2 names seem to stand out Chris Green or Austin Bowling? Just assuming Chris Green played RB. Rushville @ Batesville-Batesville continues to roll with that old school Trojan Offense 42-14. Rushville I have no idea if you have had 2 great backs in your history so we will leave you out. Batesville during the Coach Hep years was a balanced rushing attack but I am going to throw out Zach Mears or Korey Padgett? If there are others let me know.
  8. Another exciting week of EIAC Football. Game of the week this week is Batesville at South Dearborn in a winner take all for the small school crown. We also take a look at best pre and post game watering holes for the home teams. Batesville at South Dearborn- South Dearborn is a "Soft" team. They seem to struggle against anyone with a physical style of play. I think Batesville brings the 1990s Trojan Offense down to Aurora and takes it to the Knights. Batesville 35 South Dearborn 14 in the title tilt. Best pre and post game watering hole Third and Main but its pretty pricey. Moeller at East Central-Big Moe travels to St. Leon for a slobber knocker. Probably one of the best games in the Tri-State area this week. The question is will the Trojans be at full strength? Either way it will still be the Ringer vs. Marshall show. I am going to take the upset here. Trojans 35 Moeller 34 with Ringer making his case for Mr. Football. Best pre and post game watering hole....St Leon Tavern slightly over the St. Leon Skyline. How many other Skylines serve beer? Greensburg at Connersville-Snooze fest here. Nothing like a pillow fight in what some call the "Armpit of America". Who would have thought that Coach Anderson and Coach Ralph would have the same record through 2 weeks at 0-2. Does coach Anderson get his first victory for the Blue Dragons this week? I don't think so. Connersville takes it 28-21. Best pre and post game watering hole Pizza King. Lawrenceburg at Milan-Two teams still looking to get out of first gear. Both run versions of the wing t and both struggled last week on offense. I will give the slight edge to the Tigers here. Lawrenceburg 28 Milan 10. Best pre and post game watering hole....Milan American Legion. Rushville at Franklin County-Franklin County continues to roll without QB1 and gets another victory over the mighty Lions. Franklin County 21 Rushville 14. Best pre and post game watering hole....Pioneer Restaurant and Lounge slightly over Pizza Pete and Dairy Cottage.
  9. Last week was a tough week for the EIAC. Batesville and East Central came out firing but it appears everyone else was stuck in first gear. Biggest disappointment of week 1 goes to the Blue Dragons of Greensburg being slayed by the Golden Bears. Most impressive week 1 performance goes to the Bulldogs of Batesville with their impressive win over The Creek. This week we dive into the world of predictor tools. Here are the projections for this week’s EIAC Matchups according to the CalPreps Predictor Tool. Franklin County (Brookville, IN) 28 (81%), [2023] Connersville (IN) 14 (19%)-I disagree. CalPreps doesn’t have access to the injury report and the Wildcats are banged up. I will take Connersville by 14. Greenfield-Central (Greenfield, IN) 48 (>99%), [2023] Greensburg (IN) 6 (<1%)-Agree with the outcome but not the score. Greenfield-Central may have 48 by halftime. The only way they don’t score more is if coach rests his starters in the second half. East Central (St. Leon, IN) 62 (>99%), [2023] Harrison [William Henry] (Harrison, OH) 0 (<1%)-What used too be a great rivalry has turned into a pretty 1 sided affair. When was the last time Harrison won or made a game of it? The score will depend on how long Coach Meiners lets the boys play. With a legit Mr. Football Candidate I say let Ringer and the boys play into the 4th quarter. Lawrenceburg (IN) 48 (>99%), [2023] Taylor (Cleves, OH) 0 (<1%)-Once again I agree with the outcome but not the score. The Yellow Jackets are a scrappy team and no way they let the Tigers score 48 on their home field. I’m thinking something more along the lines of 36-6. South Dearborn (Aurora, IN) 28 (81%), [2023] Madison (IN) 14 (19%)-What happened to the Knights? The up and coming program in Southeast Indiana appears to have been a one year wonder. Madison puts up a fight but the Knights get back on track with a 21-18 victory over the Cubs. Batesville (IN) 28 (81%), [2023] Milan (IN) 14 (19%)-Batesville is my pick to win the small school division and Milan looks to be very young. The Milan Wing-T Spinner Hybrid is not yet the well oiled machine that Batesville was when they were running it. I will take Batesville 42-7. Shelbyville (IN) 31 (58%), [2023] Rushville (IN) 28 (42%)-Shelbyville continues to roll under their new leadership and Rushville is struggling to make parts of the Lawrenceburg offense their own. Maybe they can call coach Manford next week and he can get them coached up on that Tiger Sweep Play. Shelbyville 42 Rushville 14.
  10. Connersville at Richmond East Central at Lawrenceburg Franklin County at New Castle Indian Creek at Batesville Rushville at Milan Shelbyville at Greensburg South Dearborn at Jennings County Who do you think comes out on top in these matchups? Off the cuff the 3 matchups that look most interesting to me: 1. East Central at Lawrenceburg- 4a Defending State Champs and Preseason 4a #1 vs 3a State Runner Up and Preseason 3a #2. East Central returns a ton and Lawrenceburg not so much. Look for EC and Mr. Football Candidate Josh Ringer to take it to the Tigers a little bit in this one. 2. Indian Creek at Batesville- 3rd meeting in less than a year. They split their meetings last year. Batesville Under Center Ground & Pound v. Indian Creek's Air Raid. Batesville controls the game and pulls away in the 4th quarter. 3. Shelbyville at Greensburg-The Blue Dragons, I mean Pirates get the Wes Anderson era off to a fast start with a big win riding an impressive running back and that New Pal clone zone running game to a big week one victory.
  11. It is pretty clear that EC is the overwhelming favorite in the EIAC Big School Division. I am just trying to get a little intel on the EIAC Small School defending champs. Maybe they can give the Trojans a game?
  12. 3rd meeting in less than a year. Will it look any different? What does each team have coming back?
