For all those who are against Penn and Elkhart joining the DAC for football only, see the above as a shining example of good logic and strong decision making   small schools leading the way

North Decatur was in a football only conference that dissolved. I think the scenarios are very different.

  2. The ACAC is no slouch. Regardless of the class next to the school very good and physical football is played there. A product of the importance placed on football in the greater Fort Wayne area. By the same token, Coach Z is not a loser. And I don't think he will be at Jay. Success might be defined differently than "dominating the conference" for a win starved Jay County. It's a great hire for both Jay County and the competitiveness to their conference as a whole.

  3. Football is important in the places where people make it to be. I was born and raised in Ohio. Despite the quality of football in some places, the importance of football always felt paramount. It's almost unfathomable football wouldn't happen. Having spent my latter high school years, and my entire coaching career here in Indiana I can tell you that my opening statement is very much the same. Football is important in the places where people have made an effort to make it so. As a whole I feel it will be hard to uproot basketball's title as king in Indiana...but football in Indiana is on the rise. The quality of our game is increasing. It's a very exciting thing!

  4. A note for those who don't know. Coaches have limited number of athletes they can nominate for all-state. It can be very difficult to narrow the list down. If your favorite player didn't make the team it can be for a number of reasons that range from being nominated in a LOADED position category, to being on a team with 4-5 other tremendous athletes. It's a difficult thing to do, and the meetings last hours.

Of the teams Cass played this year, SA was the most physical team on the schedule. That includes West Laf, Tipton, Pioneer, Western, etc.. I'm not so sure SA couldn't make a run in 2a this year.

I agree, they're so physical. Our only 2 losses this year were to SA. Best team we've played since '17 Pioneer.

Had a thought this morning about additional masks for football. Maybe it has been discussed, maybe not. Have to think of the eye shields some players wear on their helmet/face masks.
Had anyone (players, coaches, ads, admins, etc) heard about a clear plastic shield that covers the entire face mask?

Somewhat like a full plastic hockey face mask.

Yes actually. We have received emails where they are available for those that would prefer to wear them. They're just a add on. Same rules as a visor, have to be clear if used. Simple piece of plastic exactly like a visor but cover the bottom part of the mask as well.

  7. RPO's aren't a new concept. I've seen them in playbooks as far back as the 70's. Heck, even Bud Wright utilized an RPO 2 years ago against us in the sectional. Why would you not take advantage of an effective scheme? Your lack of football knowledge is very evident. The Bart Curtis and Russ Radtke's of the world still co-exist peacefully among the new wave coaching concepts, and the sky is not falling.

Maybe not, I just hope there will be football.  The governor of Virginia had ordered a stay at home decree until June 10, could we be far behind?

    2 things.

I say not an "if" anymore because I believe 8 man is happening.

A longer stay at home order for Indiana probably won't happen until both Ohio and Illinois do it...It seems we've been more reactive instead of proactive....but that's a different topic for a different forum. I hope we get a season too!

  9. I know that Coach Mosser at Adams Central teaches social studies, as well as being their head track coach. Coach Sehy at Blackford teaches English as well as their head track coach. Coach Hess at Wes-Del teaches Biology. Coach Moser at South Adams teaches business. Coach Wilhelm at Yorktown teaches science. That's just the guys I know, and they all do a fine job. My guess would be that more teach outside of the PE/Health realm than you would think. That being said PE/coaching complement each other well.
