  1. The following items from your order #<redacted> have been shipped: Item Qty Included - 2026-27 Football Officials Manual 1 Included - 2026 Football Rules Book 1 Included - 2026 Football Case Book 1
  2. Where can I get the latest copy of "IHSAA FOOTBALL OFFICIALS MECHANICS AND BEST PRACTICES FOR A CREW OF FIVE"?
  3. https://www.applitrack.com/r8esc/OnlineApp/default.aspx?choosedistrict=true&applitrackclient=37918&category=Athletics%2FActivities
  4. Recently I had a game cancelled due to lack of players caused by injuries. It was cancelled a week prior to the game. There were no openings needed to be covered. But, with the growth of sports like Unified Flag Football and Girls Flag Football, and their tournaments about to start, I'd like to know if the booking I have for a Saturday of one of those is really going to happen. I'd like to know if that particular school really has a JV team this year. How do I find out? I emailed the assigner.
  5. You're right on all of them. Clarification on 3. The only context where the 5 yard run rule is mentioned is in the section about PAT. However the 5 yard run rule applies outside of PAT also. I contacted Chris Shields to get confirmation.
  6. From the pdf rule book (not the NFHS book) Extra Point Try = 1 or 2 1. An opportunity to score 1 point from the 3-yard line or 2 points from the 10-yard line shall be granted to the team scoring a touchdown. • There is a no-run zone within 5 yards of the goal line. You CANNOT run the ball if the ball is lined up within 5 yards of the goal line. • This includes the 1-point extra point attempt • Running the ball is acceptable on a 2-point try, unless a penalty moves the spot of the ball within the 5-yard line. 1 - Is the only no-run zone within 5 yards of the goal line? 2 - There is no no-run zone within 5 yards of the first down lines, correct? 3 - Does that apply only for PAT or for 3rd down with 3 to goal also? 4 - Let's say they go for 1 point. Dead ball foul, 5 yards against the offense. Replay down. Ball is now at the 8 yard line. Can they run?
  7. In 2025 Leo drops playing 4A teams their first two games, one they couldn't beat the previous 2 years, to a couple of 3A teams. It was time for them to start manning up.
  8. Which is a dead end road because I've received zero replies.
  9. I've seen multiple coworkers take their kids from EN to CN to get more playing time. One became QB1 at CN. While I've had friends take their kids from CN to EN (who didn't play football) just to get a better education. These people lived within a couple of blocks of the school.
  10. Found a conference and trying that route...
  11. I didn't ask this question blindly. I did do some research. I went to the NAIA officiating site and got to the point of asking what sport I was interested in and, just like HS, it doesn't look like they break out flag as a separate sport from football. At least when it comes to officiating.
  12. IDK if I want the stress of officiating college Men's football, besides I have too much fun with HS football, but I thought about College Women's flag football. Does one have to be a registered college football official to become registered for college flag? Do I have zero chance of doing flag if I'm not doing Men's football, like, do the Men's officials like to reserve that as offseason income?
  13. So, do you co-op, or do you play 8 man ball? There's always that choice.
  14. How many refs are busy with baseball in the spring? Personally I do football and football only so I wouldn't mind spring flag. I have ref'd flag in South Bend and also Unified so I'm game. If you check the IHSAA list of sports there are more women's sports than men's, since flag.
  15. I thought most of Fort Wayne's training was online.
  16. I live in northern central Noble county (US6 and SR9S). I am, and will remain, a member of the Tri-State Association. Last year they didn't have a bunch of training and I ended up going mainly to Warsaw. What associations do you recommend for a football official and focuses on Steuben, Lagrange, Noble, Dekalb and perhaps Allen, Whitley, Kosciusko and Elkhart counties? I prefer in person training.
  17. Seems like I got an email that it was time to register for the next year after April 1 but I fail to see how at https://www.myihsaa.net/officials/dashboard
  18. Events are already rolling in: https://www.myihsaa.net/events 2025-26 Tri-State Football Certification Clinic, 6/25/2025, Wawasee H.S. Hey, I'm working 8-3 Saturday 2025-02-22 recruiting officials at the state wrestling match. Just happens to be 6 months before they turn on the Friday night lights.
  19. Yeah, if it wasn't for the have to be in the upper class for two years before you can move again it's highly likely they might have jumped again. Adams Central is not a parochial school. Let the other schools have a chance. And AC has the intestinal fortitude to welcome the challenge.
  20. I agree that some of the really small schools sometimes are occasionally gifted with 1 or 2 "once in every 50 years" players. And two years of that kind of success bumps them up and they get stomped for 2 years after they graduate before they move back down. Central Noble girls basketball from a few years back comes to mind. But I really like BTF's comments.
  21. I'm pretty sure they totally realign them. Let's face it, if a team in Evansville needs to go into 4A and a 4A team in the Chicago region moves out you sure aren't going to have that team in Evansville play in a NW sectional. Besides, realignment adds to the guessing fun.
  22. IHSAA now redoes the sectional alignments every year instead of every two years. The success factor points are from the last two years If a team moves up one year, like Adams Central from 1A to 2A, they can't move up to 3A until they've been in 2A for 2 years. Who is on the bubble of moving up for Fall 2025? Predictions? 5A -> 6A: Bloomington South - if they win state Decatur Central - if they win semistate Merrillville - if they win state 4A -> 5A: New Palestine - if they win state 3A -> 4A Heritage Hills - if they win semistate Knox - if they win state 2A - 3A Lafayette CC - if they win state. They already have enough to remain in 2A (they are 1A sized). 1A -> 2A North Judson - if they win state Sheridan - if they win state Who is moving down since they'll have less than 3 points? Indianapolis Cathedral will move down from 6A to 5A. 23. Is the playoff roster still limited to 75 players? (This thread is 3 years old). I just got a roster with 89 players and I was wondering.
  24. I have the answer. Their AD is very conscientious and wanted to ensure he paid us for the game even though it was rained out before the clock ever started. God bless him. Since it was a wee bit of a drive I appreciate it very much. As a first year referee with uniform expense and keeping track of the mileage for games, meetings, etc. This was the one thing which turned the corner from a loss to a profit. IDK if he monitors this forum but I got an email from him within minutes of my original post.
  25. Hate to see the season over but for those of us who have never done a varsity game it pretty much is. Imaging my excitement when I get dinged with an invitation. Only to find out it is for 2024-09-24 and it is 2024-10-30. Yes, I have the year correct. I reckon it has something to do with a game that was rained out one day and rescheduled the next. I never got the invitation so I took a different game which ended up being just a 1/4 mile off my commute from work to home. Apparently the invite was stuck in the system and is now working itself through... Still have my bag in the car, just in case...
