According to Hudl. Culver through 5 games actually gives up more passing yards per game this year then last.

Im sure their pass defense has improved a lot but Judson, SC and WC aren't really threats to throw. Knox threw for almost 180 and Triton threw for over 200.

It'll be interesting to see! Weather is gonna play a factor for both teams!

And?  Culver may be giving up more yards but through 5 games last year they were giving up 40.4 ppg. This year they are giving up only 20.8.

Doesn't matter how many yards they give up if the other team can't score.

Should be an interesting game nonetheless.

i have never been on Harrel''s message board.   Sounds like a thrilling good time :classic_love:

Been on there for years. Never posted anything though. It's a good place to get a little bit of good basketball information if you can weed through all of the Jr. high name calling and I'm better than you are crap that is on there daily.

  3. Caston @ Triton

Nice to see that the numbers are up at Caston. However, Triton will win this with no problem. 42-7

    Knox @ Culver

Knox is good but haven't been overly impressive in their victories over 2 mediocre teams at best. Culver's defense has some major holes. I think Knox will roll into rivalry week 3-0. Redskins win 28-14

    North Judson @ North Newton

Flip a coin in this one. I'll go with the Spartans 28-27

    Winamac @ North White

Warriors finally get some points this week but I think NW will put up a few themselves. Warriors get the W 35-21

    Pioneer @ LaVille

Lot of chatter about this one. Perennial power vs the up and comer. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Yes Pioneer lost but they lost to a pretty good Cass team. LV is looking tough in their wins. I realize Pioneer is "king of the hill" and it sounds like some of the picks are based off of tradition. Last time I looked, tradition never played or won any games. The Lewellens are great athletes and will be tough to stop. LV has some athletes of their own. Both teams have great coaches. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if either team wins this. Pioneer has to lose in the HNAC at some point and I think Laville has the best shot this year. I'll go with the up and comer. LV wins 28-26

I am not sure why CMA was never invited to the NIC to even the numbers

My guess is that CMA doesn't bring a large gate so they aren't really ever considered. Road attendance has improved in football and basketball but only because of recent success. Most years CMA doesn't exactly strike fear into their opponents. In fact, they would be evenly matched most years to Bremen, St. Joe, Marian, Glenn and the SB schools. There are already some nice rivalries with St Joe, Marion and most recently with Bremen. It would be nice to develop more with Jimtown, Glenn and others. It also seems that the powers that be are luke warm on the topic of joining a conference. Not sure why as this would help with scheduling. CMA travels quite far for some games and struggles to schedule others. Maybe with the new AD, things might change.

The nice thing about your idea is that if these schools could form a conference, they wouldn't necessarily lose their competitive advantages come playoff time.

It would seem for Penn to be Independent in Football would be a night mare for them in scheduling, travel, and revenue.

How many schools in Indiana would have an open date after week 2 -3 and want to schedule them

Could you see them scheduling:  Valpo, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Cincy St. X, Moeller, Cleve St. Ed, St Ignatius, + 2 more would be brutal and the distance - not sure there is a solution there.

What would happen if all of the schools less 3-4 SB schools, Elkhart, Penn formed a new conference and added Culver?

Would love to see that happen.

  6. On paper, all of the games should be ho hum.

If Culver hangs on to the ball, they win going away. Culver big over SC

Knox has no problem with Rochester this year. Knox big over Rochester

LV has to focus on the team in front of them. As long as that happens then LV wins. LaVille big over Triton

The HNAC could see it's first 2 mercy rule games this week.

Pioneer makes a statement after week 1. Pioneer mercy rules Winamac

NJ just too much for Caston. Judson mercy rules Caston

Although my irreverent demeanor has been fueled my one rather large iced latte from Peet's Coffee this morning, I do, believe it or not, sports fans, have a pair of big boy pants.  Henceforth, I will offer my picks:

    Warren Central

    Valparaiso

    East Central

    West Lafayette

    Andrean

    Triton

I think you might need a bigger cup of coffee 😁 I don't think Triton will make it out of their Sectional.

Lest we never forget the very politically correct Wabash Apaches!  With that, other PC losers have to go out to the Anderson,Lake Central, Missisnewa, Portage, South Bend St. Joseph's Indians, and no, you're not immune Brebeuf Braves and Calumet Warriors...or even you, South Newton Rebels...

    Clay City Eels.

    Knox Redskins too.

Without knowing specifics it seems that conference is a better fit for Bremen and Glenn at least from a competitive stand point.

That could be. Football would have been very interesting between Bremen and Pioneer, Laville and Knox. Glenn could benefit from some of the competition. Basketball wise, the conference is pretty weak outside of Knox, Laville and Winamac. Glenn and Bremen would definitely bring up the competition level in the conference and probably help them in some sports. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Which schools make up the HNAC currently?

Laville, Triton, Knox, Culver Community, Winamac, Pioneer, North Judson, Caston

Pretty competitive small school conference. Bremen and Glenn would add to that but is that in their best interest? Just curious what other options has Bremen talked about?
