  1. Congrats to Austin. Your uncle Seth Greenberg said he'll come to a couple of games next year at halftime yesterday on ESPN.
  2. I remember reading an article that said BD was the largest "township" HS in America in the 1950's. What does that mean? I an not sure if it means county HS or what. Townships generally just represent an area. Also the 1988 BD team that was 14-0 was also #4 in the final USA today poll and loaded with stars like RB Thomas "Tank" Adams and WR Scott McGowen was a beast of a team. The 2001 team is one of my favorites as they finished #4 too nationally. The Banks botched punt (high snap to him) that resulted in an official 115 yard TD due to him running back to the end zone from the 15 yard line still amazes me. And I'll never forget the 99 regional vs Arlington and Mr. Football Derrick Ellis. 1 second on the clock and 5'4" kicker Damon Fine launched a 56 yard field goal to win it. The fans trampled me pretty good and I lost a shoe under the old home field bleachers. Nothing like walking to your car with 1 shoe lol.
  3. Good fair call Temptation. Respect for sure. Times have definitely changed. At that time in 1991 that was a really good 4x100 relay time. The speed clinics and development of athletes has evolved so much. It'll only get better too.
  4. Being an old timer and original on the GID. I remember the 1991 BD team all too well. Temptation said Holman would be a good fullback. DeWayne Hogan was a good fullback at IU and with the Texas Roughnecks. His speed wasn't remotely close to Holman's. BS all the way. Holman was an anchor on the 1991 4x100 relay team that won state in 42.37. He was strong as an ox and had speed to boot. Had he not made some foolish mistakes at MSU under coach George Perles, his career likely would have led to the NFL. See James Banks and mistakes for players who should have played in the NFL. I remember watching BD Kicker Trinity Hines hitting from 70 yards in practice. The national HS record is 68 yards in the winds of Nevada. Dirk Borgognone. QB Chris Ings would have been a D1 treat if he wasn't short. He had a stellar career at Wabash. That team was ahead of it's time with speed and conditioning. A young CSCS in Kevin Vanderbush had them way ahead of the rest of the state in those years. I remember when coach D got the call from ESPN Scholastic Sports America while cooking breakfast for his 4 team captains that they were the 1991 national champions. Hasn't been done since. The 2017 BD team had more D1 talent as have many other teams over the years, but none have held the #1 national spot since BD. Speaks volumes of Coach D and the program built. That put Indiana FB on the map and our state keeps improving and holding their own being a small state with only 1 big city.
  5. They smoked Penn 24-0 to end one of the worst streaks in Indiana as Penn hadn't played any competition in the 89 game winning streak. BD was outplayed and out coached in the 96 title game debacle. One of Coach D's biggest failures. I remember it all too well. BD had 3 IU commits De'Wayne Hogan, Kyle Moffett and Derin Graham. Plus a kicker who could hit from 60+ yards in Western KY grad Jeff Poisel. It was a disaster that night. That was a down year yes, losing to an inferior opponent who had zero business beating them.
  6. Rando here. BD had plenty of down years with Dullaghan between the 91 and 99 titles. The 96 loss to Penn in the 5A title game 1 major example. That should never have happened. They were outplayed and out coached hands down. The 95 team losing Evansville North another example. Coach D's wins and losses speak for themself. Winning titles when you should have is another story. He left at least 2 state titles for their taking and as a heavy favorite both of those years. As far as out of state games, keep them coming, Give me a great game over a yawner vs. Pike or NC. Maybe that'll change in time, but not right now and not soon. There's a reason the top ranked national teams often play multiple out of state games and that is simply to boost their ranking. Winning state is one thing, but being a national power is another. There is great pride in both, why not strive for both?
  7. BD was struggling for wins a few years back. They also played CG in back to back semi states in those tough times. Coach Simmons is a great coach and class act. Coach Tom Allen the same. Neither coach at Purdue or Penn St (IU, Ole Miss) and not be a great coach and leader of young men. Records in HS can oftentimes be pointless in regards to the ability of a great coach. Dullaghan had plenty of down years. Still the only Indiana HS FB coach with a national title to his HS resume. My philosophy for BD playing a national schedule is that you have to do it while the talent is ripe, as it is now. 3 years from now BD could go 3-7. Not now, not while the talent is there. You have to be ready now and play to your level of competition. You have to make a schedule that allows your team the best opportunities to better the team and program. Play the big boys, while your talent is top notch.
  8. Truth 3-3. Since Bless stepped down, so did Avon. BD won the past 3 with relative ease, all lopsided too. Avon is a very healthy program and is going to get much better and in a relatively quick time. My whole point for BD scheduling up is for the immediate future. Don't wait for teams to get better, worry about "now". I even think Pike and NC will be somewhat better in the next few years. These teams will always want to play BD regardless. For now, if I am BD I find a couple of Cincinnati schools or Cleveland area school to make the team better now. I know they can win state w/o this, but to be the best, play the best. Pretty simple mantra. They throttled Moeller LY near their home turf. I firmly believe IN needs more top notch out of state games. It shows where you stack up nationally, which is a good thing. Happy fourth of July brothers and sisters.
  9. It's hard for me to post often as I travel for work. Anyhow, I agree that BD's Mark Zackery should be an early favorite for Mr. Football. He has put up some impressive offensive stats at WR and his defensive body of work speaks for itself. There are many great candidates this year. I have to believe it's an open year. I recently sent BD Coach Russ Mann a message on X. Telling him to get BD out of the MIC(in football) and follow the leads of CG and Carmel as far as SOS. Get on a much more national schedule where you could play OH schools in place of Pike, Avon and North Central(all scrimmages at this point). It makes sense and with an alumni that is loaded with funds, it wouldn't be hard to pay for the out of state games(maybe 2 a year max). The 300 mile travel radius that now has allowed teams further away like IMG and others come play in or near Indiana, this would further strengthen the team come tournament time. I'd love to see the Giants play St. Edward(Lakewood) or Archbishop Hoban or Cincinnati schools Moeller, St. X, Elder or Colerain who are a short 2 hour bus ride away. My 2 cents for today.
  10. 2024 6A state contenders: BD and Warren based on top tier talent alone are my 2 favorites. CG and Carmel have some nice talent and of course their feeder systems are as strong as always like BD & Warren. Brownsburg, HSE and Fishers have a boatload of talent too. Don't forget Avon, they are building too. Westfield is worth mentioning, but the loss of Gilbert will be felt. Whoever comes out of the North outside of Hamilton County(yes they are North of the geographical center of the state) will not matter as always. Another predict the score for the southern team coming turkey weekend. My next thought is who is gonna be Mr. Football? There are a few defensive standouts and 2 way players who should have a legit shot. It's hard to win as a defensive player, but you have to say that there are some serious major D1 studs out there that can stake their claim from the defensive side. Should make for an interesting season.
  11. Maybe. Use proper grammar dumbass. Some might actually take you serious. You are two walking pieces of s... Enough said there. Show some maturity please. Don't be turds all the time.
  12. Don't continue being a POS either. Facts are facts.
  13. Don't have any children retard. Get your facts together before you call me out. POS.
  14. Don't get me started DAC monger.
  15. Your grammar shows your intelligence. You are clearly a Mensa International member. You two are the 2 biggest retards on here. I don't have kids. Hope your kids have better luck than you 2. Inbreds.
  16. Well we aren't cutting BD's enrollment in half. Poor comparision for someone I thought had more common sense. Don't be a douchebag.
  17. Nobody likes a DB Rodney. Be an adult and post as one. Don't be a worthless POS as you are. Grow up.
  18. And they haven't won much of anything. A few titles in minor sports.
  19. So enrollment is why they are good? Nothing to do with program or feeder system. Same reason BD is horrible at baseball, softball, track, golf, swimming etc. They have 5000 kids. It's about a program and feeder system. It's amazing how some of you think
  20. So socioeconomics is why CG has cracked the code?. So if you are a wealthy school. you can compete at a small school like CG? And yes small school, compared to Carmel and BD. No one wants to say having a program and feeder system is why they are good. If it's Carmel or BD, it's because of numbers, if it's CG it's because of socieoeconomics. Poor excuses folks. It's called programs and feeder systems. Wake up.
  21. Hahahahahahaha. That's too damned funny. I guess enrollment means so much. Homestead would dominate with 5000 kids. Not just swimming, but FB and others. Their programs and feeder systems are just that superior. Pathetic comparison btw. Just short of students or they'd win. My god lol. Homestead is lucky to have won they titles they have. Enough said.
  22. Fort Wayne is zero comparison to Indy FB. All little bitty schools. Not a fair comparison. You beat Warren on a down year and now your schools are national powerhouses. Lol poor comparison.
  23. Here we go again. Enrollment. If you have 4500 kids then why isn't BD good in baseball, softball, track, soccer, golf etc. Explain your argument? Got an answer?
  24. So to your defense, enrollment means zero in the country club sports, just FB and basketball? So big schools being crappy in country club sports is the norm? It's all about wealth and social status? So big schools with a highly reduced lunch rate can't be successful in country club sports? No nostalgia, truth is a hard fact to dispute. It's been done before. Explain why rich schools like Munster, HSE, Fishers and others can't beat Carmel girls swimming. Is it $$$ or the program? Please explain??????? I'm waiting. It's called a program. Those schools have the funds to be as good as they wanna be. Why they aren't?....Program and feeder system.
