  1. Real shame to see this as a Cougar football fan. It seemed like he was going to be at least a solid answer for at least a few years. Feels like they need to get someone in the role who really wants it and will stick with the team and the players. They need that consistency going into the Mid-State.
  2. Been a while since I’ve posted on here since my son graduated last year, but figured I’d give my 2 cents since I’ll be at the north/south game tonight. North’s won their last 6 straight which is pretty impressive. Last loss was back in week 4 vs South. I was at that one and the offense just couldn’t get much going, defense held up for a half but kinda ran out of gas after that. Looking at the box scores lately though, seems like the offense has really found itself. Qb’s figured it out, even threw it pretty good against 6A Columbus north. South looked real solid the first 8 weeks but seem to have slowed down some. Maybe this’ll light a fire under them, who knows. They’ve got plenty of talent ( from north) so it could go either way. I’ll say another OT thriller like that 2023 north/south game… north 34–28.
  3. Should be, you're the only real 6A team in the conference.
  4. I've been impressed with Martinsville thus far, their comeback against Decatur was something else! Their game against Plainfield to end the season should be one to watch.
  5. The fact that the I think that things like the socioeconomic equality that MCCSC is trying to push and has been trying to push for decades now is just a fact of the county at this point. Things like that just come with living in a town like Bloomington, they're going to try to help underprivileged kids. As far as the exact districting lines nowadays, they don't truly matter since it is very easy to move around schools nowadays. I live about a quarter mile from North and a kid who lived down the street from me was a starting receiver for South last year. The transferring is going to happen and there's clearly nothing we can do to stop it at this point and it has been beneficial for both schools. I don't see much reason in complaining about districting when it is a thing that has been well established for decades that they are trying to even out the playing field on a socioeconomic level. I think the biggest thing going forward is going to just be these schools building culture and having kids who live in whatever district wanting to come and play for the schools. South has had a very winning culture for a long time now, and for years I've cheered for losing North teams which is just now starting to change. I've had friends who I played with when I was in high school reaching out about North football over the last few months which has been very refreshing. Hopefully, we can reach a point where both of these schools are able to equal out their amount of impactful transfers across all sports, but until then it's something we are all going to have to live with.
  6. Luckily North and South were able to get those JV and freshmen games in tonight, always good to see the young guys who are going to lead the program get to compete. The freshmen game was never too close but that JV game ended up being a nail-biter! North was getting everything they wanted through the air because of their fast receivers and South was getting a lot done on the ground. Hopefully tonight was a glimpse into the future of the rivalry.
  7. The high school districting lines have not been substantially changed since 1997 when Jackson Creek was built. The last change at all was in 2005, so if you think that has helped North in the past few years specifically you'd be wrong. Over the last 4 years alone, South has poached 5 players from the North district who went on to play division 1 football, leading to their continued dominance during that period. Had those players stayed where they were supposed to be, North would have been an extremely talented 5A team and South would have been a shell of what they've been. Even this year, there are 2 players on the North team who are transfers from South and only 1 of them even gets significant playing time. Saying that BHSN uses transfers from South to its advantage is the most hypocritical thing I have ever heard in my time as a North fan. If you're going to make excuses, at least use good reasoning. You can find South's stats for the first three games on MaxPreps but I don't expect the stats from the North game being put in for some time since there's such a sharp decrease everywhere except for turnovers.
