The guys up front, on both sides of the ball. The O-line has been outstanding for Ellison (my worry here would be his size in the cold, hard hits in this cold feels a little different). I wish I had 1st half stats from some of the CP games but watching them control the line of scrimmage against Merrillville (2 outstanding RB's, held to less than 20yds) Valpo, and Chesterton who are all run heavy teams makes me lean towards the same outcome tonight.

I think he would have rather had the first down to run out the clock than the 3pts. Brewer made from 40+ earlier in the year, so that would have been a chip shot.

Last night we saw what we expected, right? CP dominated up front and Carroll exposed the secondary. If Carroll receivers have better hands that game might have had a different outcome. I was impressed with Sullivan's arm, he was throwing 50+ through the air during warm-ups and a couple bombs that receiver's should have caught during the game. They did run that sideline pattern one too many times when it turned into a pick-6. With that being said is there any team that's left with the same pass attack? I'll go back and watch the Westfield game this weekend but nobody has been able to run against CP all season, so you better be able to throw the ball if you want to have a chance. Two weeks left boys, keep up the great 6a talk. I enjoy reading everyone's opinions, before the game based off what you all were saying I gathered that CP was a 17pt favorite... So from what I've read on this... CP had a Home/Away series scheduled with Chicago Taft to help raise money for Leukemia (Both Coach Buzz & Taft Principal had Leukemia and leaned on each other to get through it) after CP beat them so bad in year 1 Taft broke the contract and CP had to find an opponent to fill the week 2 spot... Problem is most schedules are made 2+ years in advanced... Arizona basically played CP week 0. Like I mentioned previously, hopefully a Chicago team is on the schedule for next year.

The end results were the same.. CP has a couple stats that are pretty incredible this year even for playing a north schedule... 11 games, 11 running clocks... A team usually had an off game somewhere even if they didn't lose it would be a closer score but it hasn't happened. When was the last time Penn had a running clock against them? Most of the games this season the running clocks were the entire second half. Their defense is smothering opponents and they have the offense to roll along. They have still only allowed 3 TD's by the first team defense all season. It's been incredible to watch and can't wait to see how they handle Carroll's pass attack.

I can respect that, unfortunately those (2) 5A schools are better competition than the 6A counterparts in our conference (Portage & Lake Central) so that's all there is to judge off of up here. I hope next year's week 2 opponent is an early challenge. Maybe they need to cross into Illinois and play a Lincolnway or Mt. Carmel. The JV team played Marist during week 2 (varsity played Arizona), maybe that was a preview of 2025.

More so I see the talk of "if they played an Indy schedule they'd only be 5-4", which might be the case but I can't wait to find out how we do stack up. I believe the defense is greatly improved from last year which is crazy considering some of the talent they lost. Our offense hasn't skipped a beat either, if beating Merrillville and Valpo weren't statement games who/when will be the first real test? Is it tonight vs Penn? would it be next round (if they do beat Penn) vs a Carroll/FWS or not until a Westfield in Semi's?

This might not age well but...... Chesterton over Valpo. Regular season game came down to OT and a philly-special 2pt conversion to win it. Chesterton RB didn't play last week vs Michigan City, if he's back this has potential.

Polls and forums keep us talking high school football during the week, I enjoy the dialog and hope to be driving home to a +28 point CP win. Go Dogs!!

Just to keep the conversation going...... With CP's "weak" strength of schedule going into this game, IF they were to roll Penn by their typical 41-7 or 35-0 do they start to gain respect in some of the polls or is Penn another "weak" opponent? What needs to happen for an "ok, yeah they're legit" response after this game? Is it 7:30 yet!?!?

As a CP fan I would have to say turnovers will be the key to this game. CP starting defense has only allowed 3 touchdowns all season, all other points came after they were pulled. I know the strength of schedule is low but they have just smothered other offenses all year. If Penn is one dimensional its going to be tough for them to score so they will need to limit the CP offense by getting turnovers. As a fan I hope this game is as entertaining as last year's but by reading this forum and other outlets it might be business as usual for CP, either way, is it Friday yet?!

Determining Home Team Classes 2A, 4A, 6A Sectional final game non-host, if applicable, or odd sectional number. Carroll will be home for their sectional final, CP will be away. So, CP would get Home for regional in that scenario.
