With the rosters that Seeger and RP have and the limited seniors on each, the light is flickering.

Yes. The Hall of Famer is 14-20 in his 3.5 years at FC. This is after a 29-33 record at Seeger in 6 seasons there. He's 43-53 in his last 10 seasons and 64-63 since his last 9-win season. Overall, he's 203-166 in 35 seasons as a head coach at North Put, South Decatur, Rockville, Seeger and FC. Give him credit -- He's won 3 sectionals, two regionals and a semi-state. (State final vs Sheridan. Nick Zachary punted, kicked, ran, passed, defended, punt returned, and kick returned vs 11 Rox players to victory). His time at Rockville was outstanding, but outside of that, his other four stops are barely .500 or below. You'd have to be his relative to defend his last several years vs the mystique of The King. Give me a program to build and win at and choice of a local WRC coach and I'm taking B. Moore, B. Crabtree, G. Barrett, B. Sanders, Ryan Good, and Travis Brown over the Hall of Famer. Now, if you want your kids in the local media getting great PR, pre-season awards and a push for post-season awards, Herb is your man. No one does it better and yes, it's part of today's environment. Kids love it.

Lots of unnamed sources unwilling to confirm player transfers until school officially starts. Social media is abuzz with stories and predictions recently from statewide football media. Transfers that can be confirmed are coaches -- Earl to NV, Petrillo to FC.

Happy to see this thread get started. There's lots to talk about in the WRC and much of it isn't about the players on the field next year, rather who graduated, which coaches left (and came back) and the impact of athletes leaving based on the new transfer policy starting June 1st. Graduated Players: The impact of players graduating will be seen immediately in the conference starting with Garzolini (3100 passing yards) and Dawson, both who have committed to play D3 football and will do well. Foxworthy and Sanders will lead the returning QB's, but lead in completely different ways. Foxworthy will throw more and Herb is not afraid to pull the trigger and run him as needed and often. Sanders will lead the run-heavy RP offense as a game manager and make very little mistakes. Eight of the top 10 rushers have graduated, lead by Moore (1700) at covinginton and Price (1400) at RP. Other large contributing losses include Botner and Dawson at NV, Price at RP and Rolison/Graves at PR Its easier to say that SV will lose the best WR's in the conference than to list anyone else. Garzolini three for 3151 yards and every one of them went to a senior (Wallace, Weir, Coleman, Shryrock and Hill). I think their water boy had more receiving yards than 50% of the conference. Coaches: Coach Barrett leaving will have the most impact on the conference, not only due to the large graduating class at SV, but it's hard to replace the run he's had the last 8+ years. His staff is seasoned and their tenure with him makes a difference. The new transfer policy will most likely benefit Coach Barrett at THS more than any coach in the WRC. Although it is believed that the prior link rule supersedes the June 1st rule, so no SV players will follow him unless they change residency. Replacing Coach B at SV is Cory Miller. Although relatively young compared to his peers in the conference, Coach Miller brings with him knowledge of the college game based on his experience playing at Wabash and St Mary's. How will he respond and follow-up the best team in school history last year? Who will his staff be? Will his age be an advantage or lack of experience create growing pains? And lastly, does SV flip the script on the passing offence and become more balanced or do they keep rolling and let the ball fly? Good luck to Coach Miller - Wabash Always Fights Crabtree returns to NV. Hell, they even made him a hype video and hired Matthew McConaughey to narrate it. The boosters at NV must be printing money to make that happen. Regardless, let's not forget what Coach Rodriquez did last year with a group that most thought would be middle of the pack in the WRC. Their only conference loss was to SV. I was able to attend the NV/RP sectional game and wow, was it good. Literally down to a blocked FG for the win to end the game. Coach Crabtree will most likely reclaim his old staff and compete as the expected level at NV following a 9-2 during his one-year retirement. Transfers: Only rumors and whispers at this point. Let's talk after June 1st. Preseason standings prediction: Riverton Parke -- Too big. Too physical and too many athletes in the current group of kids. Fountain Central -- Maybe the best QB in the conference, but can they protect him and stop RP's offense Seeger -- Good group of juniors and some added coaches to the staff will help significantly North Vermillion -- Wise man once told me that you can have all the X's and O's, but you must still have the Jimmy's and Joe's. Give them a couple years to reload Parke Heritage -- I really like a couple of their lineman. Great wrestlers and strong, athletic kids. Will they have to the skilled kids to push in the top 1/2 of the conf? Covington -- Similar to SV, they lose their QB, top two rushers and top 3 WRs and 4 of 5 of their starting OL. Their JH numbers haven't been promising the last 3 years. Let's hope Coach Wheeler can regain better numbers and repeat last season's successes. Attica - It wasn't long ago Coach Ryan good was beating the likes of Coach Moore at PH and Coach Crabtree at NV in sectional games. The ebb's and flows of 1A football have shown no better example than at Attica in the last 10 years. With several freshmen playing last year, let's hope Coach Dean can grab some wins in 2025.
