FC - Will hire internal DC or Earl and finish 2nd in the conference next year, ahead of the 2025 team Seeger - Cronk or bust. NV - Three-man race if/when Crabtree leaves soon. Robbie, Joe or Earl PH - Will finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference next year and finish again with a winning record, but unrealistic parents and parental pressure will squeeze Rector hard, despite winning. RP - Sanders becomes the most hated coach in the WRC based simply upon winning and kids transferring there to win. Biggest question for RP in 2026 will be who replaces SP in the sectional. (......... RP OC sitting in his chair smiling at comments about running the spread...... "We only run spread in scout team") SV - Cory will continue to build his young group. His biggest challenge will be keeping them from leaving to RP or TH South Attica - Would love to see Coach Dean stay and build, but I also believe he's good enough and one good offer from going back to South Put or another top school Covington - My 2026 sleeper for the WRC. Skilled kids returning and a favorable schedule to start strong.

2024/25 season they were with Coach Rod. He subsequently left after that season. Similar to Ragan that resigned after a 9-2 season.

I do not know all the details, but they appear to be different situations. Ragan's son is graduating. Yes, they are losing some good kids to graduation, but also have some returning, including the starting QB and should compete near the top of the WRC next year. In the NV situation, Coach Rod found a great opportunity near his home AND NV was losing nearly all of its impact kids.

Hard to tell. The conference was surprisingly pretty young this year with limited impactful seniors graduating. Seeger loses the most with Herden and Ragen on offense and defense, plus some lineman. FC loses Dodson on defense and the majority of their top lineman on offense and defense. RP loses Sanders and Vester. The rest of the conference barely played seniors. 5-6 teams SHOULD better, but I believe it will come down to FC and RP next year with RP running the table. They return 9 starters on a defense that lead 1A in points given up. Both FC and RP had significant injuries in 2025 - FC lost Foxworthy multiple games and RP lost McConnell and Lesniak nearly all the season. The Vester kid had 1300 yards rushing and led the conference and was told he was 3rd string to start the year behind those two. To answer your question - probably. How 2026 plays out will come down to the offseason work and transfers. I saw more kids in letter jackets Friday night at RP watching the game than I've seen at any HS game. I can't imagine all of them were there simply to watch a good game. A couple of them were there to see where they are playing next year and where they fit.

I'll take that bet and raise you..... RP will win the conference again in 2026. FC will be second, followed by PH and SV, who will both be improved.

I made my way to RP for the game Friday. Holy cow, that was the most people I've seen at a 1A game. Two great teams with two totally different styles of play. The game literally game down to a game of inches on a 4th down run and officials calling for the chains to measure. I believe the play of the game was the kickoff that stalled at the 1 and forced RP to start inside their 10 and ultimately a punt and a short field for SP. As a fan, you couldn't ask for a better game to watch - two local top 5 teams going into OT. Ultimately, #23 Benton showed why he was the best player on the field and got the score SP needed to win. From what I was told, SP returns most of their skills group next year and RP returns nearly everyone on offense and defense. Unless SP wins state and moves up, they'll meet again in next year's sectional. SP bumped their schedule this year to play better teams and was told that RP will play Linton week 1 next year. That will be their toughest test before they dog walk the WRC for a second consecutive year.

Mecca Tavern? I'll join this party. Don't know K Allen, but I'm sure we could all split a tenderloin and talk about JH stats. SP @ RP -- I really hope this is a good game. SP has obviously played the tougher schedule, but RP has smashed everyone they've played. Both team had significant injuries with Benton hurting his knee and playing through it and RP losing their two starting RB's at the beginning of the year. One (McConnnell) appears to be back based on Max Preps, but Lesniak hasn't recorded a stat since early season.((Yes Prince, you can still win if good players get injured and use it as an excuse) I think this game comes down to stops on defense and weather. Can RP stop SP a couple times on defense and steal possessions, and can SP make RP punt and not chew the clock with their running game? I'm sure the coaches and players at RP are praying for rain Friday night, as its supposed to rain most of the day. RP 30 SP 24. I'm cheering for the WRC team.

Prince - SP played six teams that finished with winning records. It is statistically and historically impossible for FC to have the same record had they played the same schedule as SP. 🤡

6 of their last 7 and their signature win was who? They didn't beat a team that ended the season with a winning record and got drilled by RP and Seeger. Running clock.....

Once again, the Mustangs will finish the season having not beaten a team with a winning record. It will be a running clock vs South Put in two weeks despite the roster of D1 players the Mustangs field on Friday nights.

There's not a D1 player in the WRC this year, last year or on any roster currently. There may be kids with size, but ultimately speed separates athletes at each level and there is not a varsity player on any team with D1 speed for any position in the WRC .

Attica @ SV - I'm still cheering for Attica to get to win #3 this week. I think it's possible, but against a tough opponent in a similar roster position - young and hungry. Both will be fighting for a final win to end the regular season before each moves on to a very tough round 1 sectional draw. Attica 22 SV 14 Covington @ RP - The best part of my week is The Prince's comments and predictions. Far from me to ask the Prince about running up scores when history shows a certain Rockville team coached by The King allowed his Senior QB named Matt King to score 9 TD's in a game against Turkey Run in a 72-0 hammering in 2008. (Source -- Turkey Run vs Rockville | Football | 9/19/2008). Heck, I think even Billy Bettis was on that team too. (Source - Rockville Football Roster (2008-09) - MaxPreps.com). I don't know if RP left their starters in the game or not. Does it matter? PH had 105 yards total offense, 4 fumbles and an interception against RP. No game against even a decent opponent would be close with those stats. And my guess is that RP's JV probably did enter the game and continued the success their varsity had earlier in the game. Their JV throttled Seeger's JV a couple weeks ago by 30 and apparently hasn't lost in a couple years. RP wins big and secures the WRC title. 52-0 Covington gets North Central next week in an very winnable sectional round 1 game. FC @ PH - A battle for WRC's third place finish and then a rematch the next week in Sectionals. FC is rolling and apparently healthy. It will be interesting how the teams play this week knowing they play again the following week with more on the line (Winner gets South Put in the sectional semi-finals). I think FC rolls here two weeks in a row and sets themselves up for sectional rematch vs South Put from 2024's season. Seeger @ NV - Seeger probably got the best draw they could ask for in their loaded sectional. The Patriots will make the sectional finals with a shot to move on to regionals and continue their great season. It hasn't been talked about much, but a win by Seeger and an upset by Covington over RP and the conference title will have co-champs in 2025. Seeger will roll NV in this game and head into sectionals with momentum. NV will get a home game vs RP next week in round 1 of sectionals.

Covington @ Attica- I really want this to be a good game, but it's a tough out for the Ramblers. With 2 wins this season, I believe the Ramblers can get to 3 in the next two weeks vs Covington or SV. Covington brings two of top scoring QB/RB's in the WRC. Both will have a great night and get the Trojans to .500 in the conference. North Vermillion @ FC- FC gets back to .500 with a win over an inferior opponent this week. FC rolls the Falcons in big fashion. 60-6 SV @ Seeger- Seeger has given up 24 points total in the last three games since their game vs RP. This game is a shutout in the making. Seeger rolls at home this week vs SV. 42-0. I believe the Patriots can make some noise in the sectional with the current draw. Its a tough sectional with W. Boone, Southmont and LCC. #8 Panthers @ #10 Woofs- If PH is #10 in the state in 1A based upon the IFCA coaches' poll, we need to take the ability of coaches voting away from them. Based on this, Seeger would be Top 5 in 2A and FC exactly where the preseason Lafayette Courier Journal had them predicted after they play PH next week. If Seeger, who is the second most physical team in the WRC, handled them upfront, RP will do the same. RP takes a top 10 defense into this game giving up less than 7 points a game. Maybe it's just me and my youth that's able to point and click and find data to prove a point. The King is 45-54 in his last 99 games in 10 seasons at FC and Seeger,, 4.5 wins per year. That's a .454 winning percentage. The previous schools from the same time frame (4 years at FC and 6 at Seeger) had a combined record of 35-63 in 10 total seasons prior to The King. That's a winning percentage of .357 or 3.5 wins per year. The Prince is right. When the King takes over a "bad" program, he does get them moving in the right directions and averages 1 more win per year over a 10-year period. Comparably, Coach Sanders took over an RP program that won FOUR games in six years. Since then, he's averaged over 5 wins per year and 8 wins in three of the last four. Continuing, Brian Moore took over a PH program that combined two of the worst (by recent history) schools in the state. Together, Rockville and Turkey Run avg 3 wins per year in the six prior. Moore started the PH program and averaged 8+ wins per year during his four years. Additionally, let's look at Crabtree - the six years prior to him taking over NV, they averaged 5 wins per year. The next six years, he averaged 10+ wins per year and a state title. Stats don't lie and they don't have feelings. And luckily I've just old enough I can pay for the internet to research any and all claims.

Moore is 2-7 vs Crabtree. Both wins coming from his time at PH. And yes, kudos to Sanders at RP. They've went from everyone's homecoming to 50+ on the roster and consistently winning games at all levels.

Attica vs RP - I read RP hasn't played with their two starting RB's all season and playing with backups at those spots. Confirmed? If so, that's an impressive RB factory they've got in southern Parke County. I'm cheering for Attica in this game to play spoiler and keep it close. Not likely. Give me the Panthers to clock the Ramblers at some point in the game. 48-12 Covington vs Seeger - I wanted to believe in Covington and predicted a win over PH last week. Wrong again. Seeger is the second-best team in the conference and proves it again this week. 42-14 FC vs SV - Hey, I'm not saying data is everything, but the stats said the Herb led FC team was going to lose to a team with a winning record, and they lost. They'll get back on track with a win over a young SV team that took a beating from RP. 30-12 PH vs NV - PH most likely secured a regular season winning record with their win over Covington last week. Great job by Coach Rector to right the ship in Rockville. Maybe this will quiet The King to PH rumors starting to swirl. (I can confirm my sources). PH wins another one before their tough season-ending games with RP and FC. 42-7

North Vermilion @ Attica - Give me the Red Ramblers, if for no other reason than they actually input their stats into Max preps before week 9. 33-14 The Woofs @ The little rubbers - The Woofs need this game badly. A win this week would likely secure them a 5-4 season or at least a chance to get to 5 wins before they finish with RP and FC to end the year..... ouch AND woof!!! Its hard to predict if Covington's record is an indication of their schedule strength, or they are for real. I like Covington's 1-2 punch in their backfield and their ability to score points and don't believe PH can keep up. 34-20 Covington Seeger @ Fountain Central - GAME OF THE WEEK or YEAR in the WRC. I actually think the QB from Seeger could be the best in the conference based on the year he's had. Some could argue it could be QB 1 at Covington, who's stats are outstanding. Hell, I'm sure the RP staff would argue that Little Sanders is the best based on his team's record and how he runs the offense. The former Herbies vs the current Herbies. Coach King has 43 wins between the two schools and only 6 of those are against teams that finished the season with a winning record. FC has a great chance to get him another W this week, and the losing team is behind the 8-ball looking up at the conference standings. My 10-day forecast shows a slight chance of rain Friday in that area. We've also yet to hear from our sources at the National Weather Service to determine if SV has tried to move the game to a new date yet. Battle for the Milk Can? Agree with what Wabash Walley said above - It's easier now to schedule very competitive summer scrimmages than it is to find games in the weeks 1 and 2 slot. Kudos to those schools that can and are willing to do this. As someone mentioned earlier, RP's summer schedule was loaded, and I know Seeger went to Linton as well. Both coaches didn't take on cupcakes but assume both expected to compete at a high level this fall.
