Wabash River Conference Week 2
KDumbwitty replied to Donnie Baker's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Attica at Tri County - An injured and depleted Attica team gets a W at Tri-County to push them into conference play next week. Attica 20 TC 6 Covington at Englewoods - Everyone time I see Englewood, I think a team from Compton, CA has come to Indiana. Covington by a million. stat padder.... They are a true beneficiary of a light schedule to start the season. Cov 50 Engelwood ("Up to no good" -- TuPac California Love) 18 Fountain Central at Crawfordsville - I saw the highlight of the end of last week's game vs Southmont. What a heartbreaker. Coach Earl will have to wait another week to get his first win. Crawfordsville 22 FC 12 Paris, Il. at North Vermillions. I don't know much about either team. This is NV's chance to snag a win before a tough next couple weeks. I don't think it happens. Paris 34 NV 22 Seegers at Benton Central: The Patriots will open up the field and toss the ball all night. Maybe even get a D1 TE to submit his transfer papers... Seeger 48 BC 6 South Vermillions at Sullivan - Curious to see the SV's please stand up, please stand up (Hey, its a 90's rap theme week for me). I know nothing about North Knox, but Sullivan ran for 300+ and had 17 TFL's. I think the Purple Golden Arrows put up 50 (Cent) on the Wildcats and dominate up front. Sullivan 50 SV 30 West Vigos at The Woofs: The Woofs nearly pulled off a big win last week vs Crawfordsville just before a late interception near the endzone. Coach Rector opened up the offense and I'm sure the fanbase was doing cartwheels. I look for a repeat only the Woofs get the W PH 30 WV 13 Riverton Parkes at Tri on Saturday. - Is RP that good or is Linton down this year? Checking RP's stats, you see some common names like McConnell and Collom but have zero clue who the others that are showing up. Where do they get all these guys?? Tri does have an all-state back who's a stud. Can the Panther's contain him or are they overconfident from last week? I think Tri's speed and all-state back humble the Panthers before conference season starts and get the W. Tri 35 RP 30 -
Wabash River Conference Week 1

Two quick items: 1. When did Benton Central or Delphi join the WRC? 2. If BC has a D1 talent, he should transfer to LCC, Jeff or Seeger immediately. -
Wabash River Conference Week 1
KDumbwitty replied to Donnie Baker's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Happy to be back and playing meaning football again. Two weeks of non-conference games will give us a good indication of where teams stand. Some coaches/AD's take the path of playing extremely competitive teams and others find wins and/or competitive games for their programs and neither are wrong for doing it. Attica at Faith Christian - Great matchup for both teams. I'll take Attica in a close one. 20-14. BTW- Check out Coach Dean's podcast. Great listen. Carroll at Seeger - I would love to see this matchup later in the season. But I think Carroll has the advantage simply because of Seeger's new coach and system. Carroll 42-20 Covington at Tri County - I really hope this is the last year of this series. If Covington wants to take the next step, they have to play up. Trojans in a blowout 51-0 Crawfordsville at Parke Heritage - This is probably the toughest game to pick all week as I don't know much about C-ville. The Wolves are the sleeper of the WRC and I'm sticking to my guns. PH over C-Ville 26-20 North Central at North Vermillion - I was told NC has under 20 players this year. Any truth to that? Regardless, they will have the best player on the field. NC wins 35-12 Riverton Parke - Linton at Rose Hulman - I would have love to of seen this match-up last week at the Jamboree but wasn't able to make it. I'm sure both team were vanilla, but would have been nice to see how they match-up. Big and Physical vs Tradition and discipline. I'll take the Panthers 28-20 Southmont at Fountain Central - Regardless of injuries to the Mustangs, Coach Earl will have to wait another week for his first win. 42-6 Southmont West Vigo at South Vermillion - I don't think the Vikings have the athletes to keep up with SV for 4 quarters. The Wildcats defend their 7-7 title in their opener. 35-21 -
Quick scroll thru twitter this evening. It appears the local NC T-Birds Barstool account is taking issue with the RP offense. The football world needs more of this, IMO. "Let's talk sh*t about a team that clocked us last year and pray we don't draw them again in sectionals". Please tell me they play in the regular season...??NC - RP.pdf

Good to hear about NV. Take this for what it's worth. I got this text over the weekend: "RP looked a little more human against Sheridan than some expected. Both top-10 teams. Didn't look like they dominated from start to finish. They also got waxed by SV at the Rose-Hulman 7-on-7." What's really caught my attention is how quiet social media has been about RP this summer. Almost too quiet. Last summer it seemed like all the talk was about finally beating SP. This summer...nothing. Does Coach Tenderloin have the team everyone thinks he does? Or are we under some kind of Tenderloin Media Moratorium? 😂

Who is the NV QB this year? I'm curious what they are doing now after being running the spread/zone the last 15-20 years. Any updates on PH's summer scrimmages or RP? Apparently, RP was at the North Put scrimmage with Sheridan and going to North Davies soon. I'd love to know how those went against Sheridan and ND bc both are state-ranked. Lastly, a great interview with Jake Salts on Hoosier Prep Gridiron today. Its nice to see the WRC getting some love from them.
-
Out of curiosity, any reports from schools and scrimmages held? How are numbers for teams? Seeger went to North Put for a scrimmage PH hosted FC SV won the Wabash Valley 7v7 Covington and FC will scrimmage WV, Faith Christian and Frankfort next week Any others? Updates on other schools? Its been quiet at NV and RP this summer.

Simply because I'm an IT guy, I thought it would be appropriate to copy and paste this message about into ChatGPT. Here's the response: Result 33 of 466 words were first-person references. Approximately 7.1% of all words were I, me, my, or other first-person references. That is a fairly high level of self-reference for a post that is ostensibly discussing a football conference/team situation, as much of the discussion is centered on the poster's own experiences, opinions, and role.------- I've seen the best coaches in the conference coach, win state and/or consistently win. The one item they all have in common is a humble approach. Moore, Crabtree and recently Sanders - from what I've seen all humble, quiet guys who talk about their team and never themselves, if they talk at all. I don't know if Billy Bettis yells too much. Don't know the guy other than hear-say. I will agree that he types too much and has exceeded his word count limit without donating $30. And yes, watch out for the Patriots!!!

1. Riverton Parke - Preseason #1 or 2 in multiple state rankings. Week 1 vs Linton will be a must-see and a test for the Tenderloins. Rumor is the Panthers have 60+ on their roster this season. Every male in the school must be playing for a chance to play on Thanksgiving. With South Put moved up, can the Panthers finally get over the hump AND do it without their graduated QB and all-state safety? 2. Parke Heritage - I believe they return more starters than any other team in the conference. Did Billy move up to HS to run his dominant JH offense or is he still operating the sidelines in middle school? They will push for 2nd place in the conference and probably start the year 4-0 before they will see Seeger. Was last year's Top 10 ranking legit or not? This is the year we will know. 3. Seeger - Maybe the biggest question mark of the year. New skilled kids, lots of contributing seniors lost, but a new (and predictably better) coaching staff. Based on Laf Jeff's offense, will we see Seeger toss the ball around this year with Saltz? Week 1 vs Carroll is another great matchup in week 1 for the WRC. Then off to The King's Benton Central squad in Week 2 before they start conference. Week 4, 5 and 6 will be a stretch of games that could make or break the Patriots this season. 4. Fountain Central - WRC Hall of Famer Jacob Earl takes the reigns from The King. Its hard not to cheer for Coach Earl after a few disappointing seasons for the Mustangs. They'll probably have the best QB (Foxworthy) and one of the top athletes (Batchlor) in the conference and a top safety in Willoughby on defense. Again, another WRC with a tough week 1 opponent as FC plays Southmont to start the year. 5. South Vermillion - They could have been the WRC's youngest team last year and got a few wins. Has the Barrett effect worn off now or is it truly Miller Time for the Wildcats? And how many transfers will they lose to TH South or RP this year? 6. Covington - Three games to start the year again in 2026 could all be wins for the young Trojans. The challenge is what happens after those three games. They return their QB and RB and that is nearly all their offense from last year. Covington is the sleeper of the conference if they can win 2-3 games in weeks 4-10. 7. Attica - Best facilities in the conference. Coach Dean returns nearly his entire team on both sides of the ball. Is this the year Attica turns the tables and picks up some wins, maybe even a sectional win, assuming they don't draw SP again (not possible, but that wasn't cool....) 8. North Vermillion - The falcons are currently in the middle of an 11 game losing streak with opening games against an improved North Central squad and Paris. Hopefully their new coach can increase the roster numbers and push to be competitive this season in a weak WRC. I'm not mad about any coaching changes and making my $30 donation today. Thanks Donnie!

WRC 2026 way too early thread.

I have zero knowledge of Coach Crum, but I trust NV's AD to make the right hires. His track record in multiple sports and the hires he's made speak for themselves. Even his last hire following Crabtree's first departure finished 9-2. For a small 1A, they have outstanding facilities and a supportive administration. Based upon this forum, the current WRC is the worst conference in history of organized football. That's a perfect scenario for Coach Crum. -

The Patriots lose quite a few seniors who filled a lot of stats on offense and defense. They do return their QB. The "hope" is our new coach can bring back some of the athletes in the building. I know, I know, hope is a terrible strategy. Reality says that RP only lost two starters on defense and three on offense. They are the team to beat, but I do believe PH will compete at the top and so will Seeger under Cronk. -

I'm just here for the comments. 🍿🍿 That said, I'm intrigued by an all-Parke County school. Aside from basketball, you could argue that RP has better programs in nearly all sports. Heck, even their wrestling program has become very competitive in the last few years. (I have no clue about track or XC). 2026 Patriots are my sleeper to upset RP for the conference championship. The conference title returns to the northern part of the WRC this year and we don't need The King, The Prince, or B Bettis to make it happen. That's not a rumor, that's a spoiler. -

Beat a team that finishes with a winning record and finish above .500. That would be a great start to filling his shoes. -

Not gonna lie, I don't know B Bettis, but I googled him. (Get it..? I win... google me). Sounds like he knows offense. Could be a good FC hire. Shoot, maybe he could take the PH program when they run their coach out. Billy Bettis is associated with Parke Heritage High School, where he is mentioned in discussions about the school's athletic events and community activities. For more detailed information, you can refer to the discussions on the Indiana High School Football Forum, which include updates on games and community events related to Parke Heritage. FC - Will hire internal DC or Earl and finish 2nd in the conference next year, ahead of the 2025 team Seeger - Cronk or bust. NV - Three-man race if/when Crabtree leaves soon. Robbie, Joe or Earl PH - Will finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference next year and finish again with a winning record, but unrealistic parents and parental pressure will squeeze Rector hard, despite winning. RP - Sanders becomes the most hated coach in the WRC based simply upon winning and kids transferring there to win. Biggest question for RP in 2026 will be who replaces SP in the sectional. (......... RP OC sitting in his chair smiling at comments about running the spread...... "We only run spread in scout team") SV - Cory will continue to build his young group. His biggest challenge will be keeping them from leaving to RP or TH South Attica - Would love to see Coach Dean stay and build, but I also believe he's good enough and one good offer from going back to South Put or another top school Covington - My 2026 sleeper for the WRC. Skilled kids returning and a favorable schedule to start strong. -

Yes sir. That 7 points they put up in the 4th quarter down 45-0 was schemed to perfection. -

2024/25 season they were with Coach Rod. He subsequently left after that season. Similar to Ragan that resigned after a 9-2 season. -

I do not know all the details, but they appear to be different situations. Ragan's son is graduating. Yes, they are losing some good kids to graduation, but also have some returning, including the starting QB and should compete near the top of the WRC next year. In the NV situation, Coach Rod found a great opportunity near his home AND NV was losing nearly all of its impact kids.
