  1. Any updates on the Falcon's scrimmage tonight? Apparently, their numbers are up this year with the new staff. Would love to see them competing again at a high level. Did anyone attend that can give an update?
  2. Out of curiosity, any reports from schools and scrimmages held? How are numbers for teams? Seeger went to North Put for a scrimmage PH hosted FC SV won the Wabash Valley 7v7 Covington and FC will scrimmage WV, Faith Christian and Frankfort next week Any others? Updates on other schools? Its been quiet at NV and RP this summer.
  3. Coach Rod was 1-1 against Tenderloins and 0-1 against Barrett at SV, correct?
  4. Who was the last 3-5A coach that came to the WRC?
  5. Simply because I'm an IT guy, I thought it would be appropriate to copy and paste this message about into ChatGPT. Here's the response: Result 33 of 466 words were first-person references. Approximately 7.1% of all words were I, me, my, or other first-person references. That is a fairly high level of self-reference for a post that is ostensibly discussing a football conference/team situation, as much of the discussion is centered on the poster's own experiences, opinions, and role.------- I've seen the best coaches in the conference coach, win state and/or consistently win. The one item they all have in common is a humble approach. Moore, Crabtree and recently Sanders - from what I've seen all humble, quiet guys who talk about their team and never themselves, if they talk at all. I don't know if Billy Bettis yells too much. Don't know the guy other than hear-say. I will agree that he types too much and has exceeded his word count limit without donating $30. And yes, watch out for the Patriots!!!
  6. 1. Riverton Parke - Preseason #1 or 2 in multiple state rankings. Week 1 vs Linton will be a must-see and a test for the Tenderloins. Rumor is the Panthers have 60+ on their roster this season. Every male in the school must be playing for a chance to play on Thanksgiving. With South Put moved up, can the Panthers finally get over the hump AND do it without their graduated QB and all-state safety? 2. Parke Heritage - I believe they return more starters than any other team in the conference. Did Billy move up to HS to run his dominant JH offense or is he still operating the sidelines in middle school? They will push for 2nd place in the conference and probably start the year 4-0 before they will see Seeger. Was last year's Top 10 ranking legit or not? This is the year we will know. 3. Seeger - Maybe the biggest question mark of the year. New skilled kids, lots of contributing seniors lost, but a new (and predictably better) coaching staff. Based on Laf Jeff's offense, will we see Seeger toss the ball around this year with Saltz? Week 1 vs Carroll is another great matchup in week 1 for the WRC. Then off to The King's Benton Central squad in Week 2 before they start conference. Week 4, 5 and 6 will be a stretch of games that could make or break the Patriots this season. 4. Fountain Central - WRC Hall of Famer Jacob Earl takes the reigns from The King. Its hard not to cheer for Coach Earl after a few disappointing seasons for the Mustangs. They'll probably have the best QB (Foxworthy) and one of the top athletes (Batchlor) in the conference and a top safety in Willoughby on defense. Again, another WRC with a tough week 1 opponent as FC plays Southmont to start the year. 5. South Vermillion - They could have been the WRC's youngest team last year and got a few wins. Has the Barrett effect worn off now or is it truly Miller Time for the Wildcats? And how many transfers will they lose to TH South or RP this year? 6. Covington - Three games to start the year again in 2026 could all be wins for the young Trojans. The challenge is what happens after those three games. They return their QB and RB and that is nearly all their offense from last year. Covington is the sleeper of the conference if they can win 2-3 games in weeks 4-10. 7. Attica - Best facilities in the conference. Coach Dean returns nearly his entire team on both sides of the ball. Is this the year Attica turns the tables and picks up some wins, maybe even a sectional win, assuming they don't draw SP again (not possible, but that wasn't cool....) 8. North Vermillion - The falcons are currently in the middle of an 11 game losing streak with opening games against an improved North Central squad and Paris. Hopefully their new coach can increase the roster numbers and push to be competitive this season in a weak WRC. I'm not mad about any coaching changes and making my $30 donation today. Thanks Donnie!
  7. I have zero knowledge of Coach Crum, but I trust NV's AD to make the right hires. His track record in multiple sports and the hires he's made speak for themselves. Even his last hire following Crabtree's first departure finished 9-2. For a small 1A, they have outstanding facilities and a supportive administration. Based upon this forum, the current WRC is the worst conference in history of organized football. That's a perfect scenario for Coach Crum.
  8. The Patriots lose quite a few seniors who filled a lot of stats on offense and defense. They do return their QB. The "hope" is our new coach can bring back some of the athletes in the building. I know, I know, hope is a terrible strategy. Reality says that RP only lost two starters on defense and three on offense. They are the team to beat, but I do believe PH will compete at the top and so will Seeger under Cronk.
  9. I'm just here for the comments. 🍿🍿 That said, I'm intrigued by an all-Parke County school. Aside from basketball, you could argue that RP has better programs in nearly all sports. Heck, even their wrestling program has become very competitive in the last few years. (I have no clue about track or XC). 2026 Patriots are my sleeper to upset RP for the conference championship. The conference title returns to the northern part of the WRC this year and we don't need The King, The Prince, or B Bettis to make it happen. That's not a rumor, that's a spoiler.
  10. Beat a team that finishes with a winning record and finish above .500. That would be a great start to filling his shoes.
  11. Team Sport Success Totals 2025-26.xlsx 6 points over two years to bump. 3 points to stay. Hence, Lutheran is staying in 2A.
  12. @ Crawfordsville 2022 @ RP 2017 Both rookie head coaches. Both 3 win teams in each of those seasons
  13. Not gonna lie, I don't know B Bettis, but I googled him. (Get it..? I win... google me). Sounds like he knows offense. Could be a good FC hire. Shoot, maybe he could take the PH program when they run their coach out. Billy Bettis is associated with Parke Heritage High School, where he is mentioned in discussions about the school's athletic events and community activities. For more detailed information, you can refer to the discussions on the Indiana High School Football Forum, which include updates on games and community events related to Parke Heritage. 14. FC - Will hire internal DC or Earl and finish 2nd in the conference next year, ahead of the 2025 team Seeger - Cronk or bust. NV - Three-man race if/when Crabtree leaves soon. Robbie, Joe or Earl PH - Will finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference next year and finish again with a winning record, but unrealistic parents and parental pressure will squeeze Rector hard, despite winning. RP - Sanders becomes the most hated coach in the WRC based simply upon winning and kids transferring there to win. Biggest question for RP in 2026 will be who replaces SP in the sectional. (......... RP OC sitting in his chair smiling at comments about running the spread...... "We only run spread in scout team") SV - Cory will continue to build his young group. His biggest challenge will be keeping them from leaving to RP or TH South Attica - Would love to see Coach Dean stay and build, but I also believe he's good enough and one good offer from going back to South Put or another top school Covington - My 2026 sleeper for the WRC. Skilled kids returning and a favorable schedule to start strong.
  15. Yes sir. That 7 points they put up in the 4th quarter down 45-0 was schemed to perfection.
  16. 2024/25 season they were with Coach Rod. He subsequently left after that season. Similar to Ragan that resigned after a 9-2 season.
  17. I do not know all the details, but they appear to be different situations. Ragan's son is graduating. Yes, they are losing some good kids to graduation, but also have some returning, including the starting QB and should compete near the top of the WRC next year. In the NV situation, Coach Rod found a great opportunity near his home AND NV was losing nearly all of its impact kids.
  18. Hard to tell. The conference was surprisingly pretty young this year with limited impactful seniors graduating. Seeger loses the most with Herden and Ragen on offense and defense, plus some lineman. FC loses Dodson on defense and the majority of their top lineman on offense and defense. RP loses Sanders and Vester. The rest of the conference barely played seniors. 5-6 teams SHOULD better, but I believe it will come down to FC and RP next year with RP running the table. They return 9 starters on a defense that lead 1A in points given up. Both FC and RP had significant injuries in 2025 - FC lost Foxworthy multiple games and RP lost McConnell and Lesniak nearly all the season. The Vester kid had 1300 yards rushing and led the conference and was told he was 3rd string to start the year behind those two. To answer your question - probably. How 2026 plays out will come down to the offseason work and transfers. I saw more kids in letter jackets Friday night at RP watching the game than I've seen at any HS game. I can't imagine all of them were there simply to watch a good game. A couple of them were there to see where they are playing next year and where they fit.
  19. I'll take that bet and raise you..... RP will win the conference again in 2026. FC will be second, followed by PH and SV, who will both be improved.
  20. I made my way to RP for the game Friday. Holy cow, that was the most people I've seen at a 1A game. Two great teams with two totally different styles of play. The game literally game down to a game of inches on a 4th down run and officials calling for the chains to measure. I believe the play of the game was the kickoff that stalled at the 1 and forced RP to start inside their 10 and ultimately a punt and a short field for SP. As a fan, you couldn't ask for a better game to watch - two local top 5 teams going into OT. Ultimately, #23 Benton showed why he was the best player on the field and got the score SP needed to win. From what I was told, SP returns most of their skills group next year and RP returns nearly everyone on offense and defense. Unless SP wins state and moves up, they'll meet again in next year's sectional. SP bumped their schedule this year to play better teams and was told that RP will play Linton week 1 next year. That will be their toughest test before they dog walk the WRC for a second consecutive year.
  21. Mecca Tavern? I'll join this party. Don't know K Allen, but I'm sure we could all split a tenderloin and talk about JH stats. SP @ RP -- I really hope this is a good game. SP has obviously played the tougher schedule, but RP has smashed everyone they've played. Both team had significant injuries with Benton hurting his knee and playing through it and RP losing their two starting RB's at the beginning of the year. One (McConnnell) appears to be back based on Max Preps, but Lesniak hasn't recorded a stat since early season.((Yes Prince, you can still win if good players get injured and use it as an excuse) I think this game comes down to stops on defense and weather. Can RP stop SP a couple times on defense and steal possessions, and can SP make RP punt and not chew the clock with their running game? I'm sure the coaches and players at RP are praying for rain Friday night, as its supposed to rain most of the day. RP 30 SP 24. I'm cheering for the WRC team.
  22. Mecca Tavern? I'll join this party. Don't know K Allen, but I'm sure we could all split a tenderloin. SP @ RP --
  23. Prince - SP played six teams that finished with winning records. It is statistically and historically impossible for FC to have the same record had they played the same schedule as SP. 🤡
  24. 6 of their last 7 and their signature win was who? They didn't beat a team that ended the season with a winning record and got drilled by RP and Seeger. Running clock.....
  25. Once again, the Mustangs will finish the season having not beaten a team with a winning record. It will be a running clock vs South Put in two weeks despite the roster of D1 players the Mustangs field on Friday nights.
